I live in a city about an hour and a half from my parents. I mooch off their streaming services. Got a screen today saying "you've marked your account as traveling too many times", so can only watch HBO on my phone now.

I'm not ridiculous in saying it's awful watching movies and long shows on a tiny phone screen, right? Wanted to watch The Long Walk this evening and also start Lanterns this week but I guess my plans have changed.

Thought of getting the Blood Meridian or The Road audiobooks on audible for drives to and from work, or listening to on work breaks.

But with with how McCarthy writes and his lack of punctuation and how his work visually stands out from other works, I worried it'd miss the point and I should just stick to physical books from him.

I've been listening to Jar of Flies on my 30 minute walks, start to finish. Perfect album.

Idk, I'm 27 and to me growing up this was just "music my mom listens to" because she was a grunge teen in the 90s, a lot of Nine Inch Nails and Alice in Chains, but after experiencing life for years and actually listening to the words and messages the songs are saying, I get it now. Life changing.

It makes me feel not so alone, like I'm not totally isolated.

Buddy of mine and I are getting back into street fighter, so we're good on fighting games. He kinda wants me to get back into Legends of Runeterra but I don't really play that one anymore since support for PvP stopped and it's focusing more on PvE. I kinda want to get a game I could get into that isn't just a game only the two of us play, if that makes sense.

preferably versus but co-op is on the table, we just want something that can be improved on or takes a form of mastery. He likes chess, for example, I'm not a huge fan of chess.

As for co-op games he said he's good for 2-3 player teams, so he's not looking for something like Marvel Rivals or any sort of big team shooter thing

And he wants to be able to play it and learn on his own time and get better for when we do play together. Like he practices a lot of Street Fighter on his own so he's improved when we face each other.

TLDR: 1-3 player skill based game that's not a fighting game

I finally understand how Trent feels in his music. I'm at an all time low and finally realize what he means.

This music was just something my mom used to play in the car, I never really thought much of it, but now I'm starting to fully get it.

After suffering at a job I hate for 2 and a half years, and using music as one of the only ways to calm down, it just wasn't enough. Got fired for anger issues. Feel worthless. Feel like I'm nothing. Just an unemployed bum applying for more bullshit jobs that'll make me angry and the cycle repeats.

"I believe I can see the future, cause I repeat the same routine. I think I used to have a purpose, then again that might have been a dream."

Currently unemployed and need money. Worked in a warehouse and worked in a bank before. Also went to college but apparently this is all I'm good for and it pays decent so I guess this is what I'm gonna try to do.

Got fired from previous job due to anger issues and was hoping that driving on my own would be okay. I don't get road rage much anymore, I like driving but I guess if I'm driving a delivery truck I won't get to hook up my phone and listen to my podcasts or music and be stuck with the radio, which will suck.

Unsure if this is where to post this but I'll type it anyway and just post it somewhere else if need be.

I usually ask ChatGPT these kind of questions so I don't bother people with my idiotic ramblings about comics and my personal projects with reading them but I'm giving this a shot.

My reading projects are as follows, in no particular order:

1. I want to read most (if not all) major Hulk-related storylines (I was reading Peter David's run but took a break several months ago, and finished Immortal Hulk a few months ago). Hulk is my favorite Marvel character, and I remember enjoying the 2008 run as a kid and Red Hulk being literally the coolest thing ever to a 10 year old me.

2. I'd like to read the important X-Men stuff pre-Krakoa so I can understand the context of Krakoa (never was much of an X-Men fan outside of the movies growing up. I struggle keeping track of that many characters)

3. I'd like to read the majority of the original Ultimate universe before then moving on to the new Ultimate Universe. I know that's not really necessary, but I didn't enjoy the Ultimate universe as a kid because of all the changes (Hulk being just awful, Iron Man's suit being incredibly different, the Avengers being called the Ultimates, hating most of the art, etc) but after reading some of it, it's growing on me despite knowing it's not great. I like Ultimate X-Men for some reason even though I know it's not very good. Ultimate Spider-Man is pretty good though. Following a reading guide for Ultimate universe on Continuity Guide's website.

4. I'd like to read some notable Thor runs and Spider-Man story arcs. Mainly Simonson's Thor, Jason Aaron's Thor, and Donny Cate's Thor. And Kraven's Last Hunt, the Clone Saga, and Superior Spider-Man.

5. In general notable events in 616. Civil War (didn't read as a kid, found it boring), Civil War II, Secret Invasion (read parts of it as a kid), Siege, AvX Fear Itself, King in Black are the main ones for me

6. Most important Venom related stories. Was interested in him as a kid but only saw him as a Spider-Man villian. Didn't fully realize how much that changed until I got back into comics somewhat recently.

7. Most major Moon Knight stuff. Mainly just his individual runs.

and finally 8. Dardevil: Last Rites and Frank Miller's Daredevil. I want to get the hype behind Daredevil, didn't really like him as a kid despite my dad being a big fan of him.

As you can see I've got a lot i want to read but I'm constantly faced with choice paralysis and it leaves me spending more time deciding what to read rather than reading. There's just not enough hours in the day, lol.

I have a useless history degree and graduated 6 years ago. I'm almost 30 and have lost 3 jobs in the past 6 years. 2 due to my anger issues, another I guess because I'm stupid and not good at office work.

I like being left alone and prefer to just do my job and go home. My degree is gonna be useless regardless so I'll just live in my my younger sister's shadow because she's gonna be a biologist working in a lab or my younger brother who is good at office work. I used to be the smart older brother but I guess that failed.

So since I'm just slowly developing into an angry hillbilly of a man and trades are probably the only thing I even could be good at that requires actual skill that isn't stacking boxes in a warehouse, i'm just looking for something that won't drive me insane.

Because a job defines who you are I'm just trying to find a good definition for myself.

Kind of losing any kind of motivation in life, I graduated college with a history degree 6 years ago, and kind of just been doing a bunch of nonsense jobs since then.

I worked at a bank as a teller, worked a few warehouse jobs, and worked an office job. I got fired from my office job because I wasn't good at it. Got fired from warehouse jobs due to my attitude and anger issues.

I like doing research and I'm not very good with people. I know I'll have to deal with people regardless but I just prefer to be left alone to my work mostly.

I was thinking of going to some sort of trade but I feel like that'll make my already useless degree be worth even less if I don't even use it and go to more school for something completely unrelated. I just want to feel like I'm worth something because I feel like your job defines who you are in society and defines your role in the world.

I originally wanted to be a professor when I had any sort of dreams or hope in life, but those dreams got crushed by a professor I admired when he told me I'd have to become an expert in history I didn't particularly care about in order to get anywhere.

I like museums, but don't like people. I like the idea of archiving too. But all that requires more school that I simply don't have the money for right now.

I genuinely think I might be too stupid for this game. I'm enjoying a lot of it but I'm getting bombarded by walls of text and history of a world that does not exist. The amount of detail into this world is staggering and I feel like I need to do homework just to play this game.

that's not to say I'm not enjoying myself. I love learning the little bits and pieces as I go along, I no longer try to learn everything about everything unless it's hinted at.

At first I was just reading page after page on the codex but is that the right way to go about it?

Trying to get a group of family members to go to a Grizzlies game or two this season, and my sister in law also wants to visit Graceland. I'm like 2 hours away from Memphis, other family members are like 3.

Grew up in Shreveport and Monroe, LA. Not exactly paradise. My mom grew up in Little Rock in the 80s and 90s. and my family has visited NOLA several times, and yet she still acts like going to Memphis is like getting sent to Iraq. She's convinced that it's a bad idea to go and would much rather me be an OKC fan, which I am NOT doing. It's not 2009-2012 anymore, the culture of OKC Thunder is just toxic and they're embarassing to watch for what they do to basketball.

I'm an adult and don't live with her, so her opinion won't really hinder a Memphis trip, but I just don't want to make her worry. She's almost 50, and going through a stressful time in her life and I don't want to add on to it.

My (former) employer apparently sent the police to do a welfare check after letting me go a few days ago. My former employer and I did not see eye to eye very well, and my former boss and HR department were well aware on the amount of stress and anxiety my job put me through, to the point I'd have regular nightmares about my workplace. I was let go for reasons involving anger issues and bad attitude.

The officer was kind, and asked "you gonna kill yourself or anything" and I said no, and he asked if I had another job lined up to which I responded also with no.

There was something he mentioned about "leaving comments" which is probably referring to the regular notes I left in my former workplace's suggestion box about how much favoritism there was rampant in the workplace, how much stress was being caused, and again regular nightmares. However, those are supposed to be anonymous. I guess not many people were complaining about having nightmares about this job, lol.

Anyway, am I going to be like, watched now? Am I supposed to be extra paranoid now? I don't plan on killing myself, I actually am taking steps to evaluate my medication and try to help myself while looking for a new job. But are the police going to constantly check on me to see if I've killed myself frequently in the future? I'd rather my neighbors not think I'm crazy with an officer coming to knock on my door to see if I've offed myself.

Again, the officer was polite, and left after a brief conversation. I was more confused than anything but kept a positive demeanor.

I got fired today, and I have plenty of food in the house right now. Lot of frozen stuff. Hopefully I find a new job soon but just in case I need to grocery shop, what can/should I eat and make? I hate doing dishes but at this point I'll do whatever needs to get done. It's just me so I don't need to worry about too much variety like if I had kids.

I am also going to try to count my calories because I'm trying to lose weight (260 pound fatass). I go on regular walks, but I allow myself a calorie budget of 2,257 calories a day by recommendation from MyNetDiary. I eat mostly frozen meals because it's a way of controlling my portions, because I'm an emotional eater (binge eat when sad, binge eat when happy). But again, i'll do what needs to be done. I'll cook even if I don't like it and I'm not good at it.

Maybe I'm overreacting, maybe I'll find a new job soon, but I've been unemployed for months before and I was not so smart about my food choices back then and I don't want to fall into a depressive DoorDash addiction again. I gotta change.

The simpler the better. I just don't want to eat cheap ramen for every meal.
