How do you get a high paying job if you struggle with interview questions?

I’ve been in IT for seven years and have a Bachelor’s degree. I’ve been a cloud admin for a little over a year, and I’m trying to break into the six figure range. One thing that keeps getting in my head is how quizzy interviews have become lately. I understand that companies hiring for higher level positions want someone who can speak fluently about technical concepts and come across as knowledgeable.

I was out of work for eight months after a layoff before landing my current role. Partly because of competition, struggling with certain technical interviews depending on the topic, and trash communication from HR departments. I’ve always been more of an “I’ll figure it out and solve the problem” type of person over someone who has every answer off the top of their head. A lot of the interviews I’ve gone through in recent years seem to favor the latter.

Anyone who’s been in a similar position, how did you break through the interview process and land a high paying or highly competitive role?

What's "easier" cryosleep or light-speed travel?

Humans want to achieve deep space travel. What's easier. light-speed propulsion to achieve deep space travel, making travel take months or years instead of hundreds of years, or to be able to suspend human cell aging to allow for people to sleep for hundreds of years and still travel at today's rate?

What's scientifically more achievable?

Could Mephiston eventually cure the Black Rage ?

Is there a way, lore-wise, that he could eventually remove the curse from the chapter? He has overcome it once (or twice), and his psyche anchors the people around him from falling to the rage, I think. I know he can do some crazy warp business and has a literal god in him. I would imagine it takes a strong mind and psyker powers to be able to come back. Maybe he can teach other people and train them mentally to overcome it like he did, even if it's just the chapter psykers.

Am I doing something wrong

Downloaded Steam Link on the headset and SteamVR on my PC. On the headset, I load into a virtual room where I can see my Steam games, so I guess this is SteamVR on the headset ?. When I boot up No Man's Sky on my PC. It shows two images of the game on my PC, but on my headset, it either shows a blank white or black floating screen, or it loads me into a virtual room with the game image and an "Up Next" message. However, on my PC, it's on the game menu. I'm doing this wirelessly.

Im aware of Virtual Desktop, but I want to try steamlink first because its free, I only have one VR game, and I want to try PCVR out first.

Anyone else not impressed by the controller so far ?

I loved the OG controller, but this one just feels “meh” to me. It doesn’t feel as good or " different " ? I think its because the OG controller the trackpads were pretty much mandatory so you always got that unique feel. There are unique cases where this controller can do things other controllers can’t, like RTS games, MMOs, or similar genres. But for normal controller based games, I feel like a GameSir or 8BitDo is perfectly fine.

For example, it feels better for me to play Resident Evil on my $70 GameSir than on the Steam Controller. I don’t know if it’s the stick placement or the trigger quality that throw me off. The trackpads also feel weird to me, almost like they’re in an unnatural spot, maybe that’s due to my hand size. It feels awkward trying to control the pads at the very bottom of the controller, but that’s really the only place they could put them.

Honestly, I’d almost prefer if the controller was just two trackpads exclusively. I think part of my issue is that third party controllers have improved a lot over the last 10 years.

It feels like it's a great unique controller but not the best at just being a regular controller. They removed some of the uniqueness to make it appear as a regular controller.

Quest 3 tips and tricks ?

Hello, I'm new to VR. I played around today with my Quest 3, and it's awesome so far. I'm confused right now trying to get used to the UI and gaming/productivity abilities. I want to use the headset for all sorts of things: VR gaming, PCVR gaming, movies, multitasking, etc.

Does anyone have any advice on settings, subscriptions, apps, etc., that I should be using? I want to make sure I'm doing stuff correctly.

The new Swatch colab is only in store?

Not familiar with watch launches like this. The AP collab will only be available in-store? I Googled around and couldn't find any solid details on online availability. Has anyone ever bought from this company before?

Handmaids tale story seems stupid.

I'm only at the beginning of S2. It's odd to me that the world is infertile and they treat the people responsible for keeping humanity alive badly. Also, if the Handmaids only do stuff with the commanders, wouldn't every child eventually be inbred generations later? There are few fertile women left but they kill and harm the fertile ones ?????

Steam Input is one of the top 3 greatest things Valve has done, in my opinion, and it should be the standard for controls moving forward.

I had the original controller at launch, and it was my favorite controller. Not because of the looks, ergonomics, or "cool factor," but because it let you do whatever you want. Want to swap buttons, clone buttons, create a virtual menu, edit icons on the virtual menu? Game doesn't have a radial menu? That's okay, Steam Input can add one, it doesn't matter. I loved it because it lets you play and control your games however you want, not how the developers think you would want. I've been watching some videos on Steam Input while my controller ships, and it just amazes me at the amount of stuff you can do. I hadn't really played around with it in years since my original controller broke. I've been reviewing it since the new controller has been released. Steam Input isn't talked about enough, mainly because most KBM players probably don't care. But what it's been able to do for controllers and breaking the barrier of what's possible is insane. There is virtually no game you cannot play on this controller.

Also, the trackpads and haptic motors create a controller experience that is just a joy and unique. This combo is what makes the Steam Controller the greatest controller ever, in my opinion.

I’m 29 and have OCD/anxiety and a fear of heights (acrophobia). I was diagnosed with OCD around 19 and mostly deal with mental obsessions (sexuality, religion, etc.), not many physical compulsions. I’ve also had a pretty severe fear of heights since I was about 14. I’ve been in and out of therapy over the years, but I tend to quit early because I start doubting whether it’s actually helping.

Right now, I’m about 9 sessions in with a therapist at a clinic that specializes in OCD/anxiety. My therapist says my case is complex because of the number of different things that could bother me at any time. My OCD symptoms are more manageable now, but will probably never fully go away, and are better than before.

We’ve recently started working on my fear of heights using ERP and gradual exposure. I’ve made progress that my therapist says I should be proud of, but not as much as I want. The part I’m unsure about is that my therapist is treating my fear of heights like OCD instead of a phobia.

When I’m triggered, I do things like grab onto something, look away, or try to block it out. My therapist says those are compulsions I should stop and face the physical reactions. They feel like fight or flight responses, so im not sure if I can just " stop " them. I also occasionally look at some things online bout anixety, and they say it’s okay to cope that way with anxiety.

Now I’m unsure if this is the right approach. I know OCD and phobias can overlap, but they’re not the same. I wonder if Im overthinking, or could I be doing the wrong type of treatment and just wasting money.

Has anyone dealt with something similar?

Considering this was a dumb controller launch, just putting the controller up for sale without pre-orders...they should ask people via email in batches based on account history whether they are interested in either device. This will limit scalpers, as I doubt a scalper is someone with a 10+ year old Steam account. And have a $50 nonrefundable preorder. Then allow them to decide.

If they launch those devices like they did the controller, people genuinely interested won't get one for six months.
