Making the most of my 1-month Apple Music trial — what features should I try?

II’ve been considering giving Apple Music a proper try for a while now. I recently found out I can redeem a free month of Apple One, which includes Apple Music. Since I don’t qualify for the standard 3-month trial, this will probably be my only opportunity to really experience everything it has to offer.

I’ve been using the green app for years, so I want to make sure I don’t spend the month only using the basic features and miss out on things that make Apple Music special.

I’m not just looking for the obvious features—I already know about things like Lossless, Dolby Atmos, lyrics, etc. I’m more interested in the hidden features, quality-of-life improvements, and things that longtime Apple Music users think are underrated or easy to miss.

For example:
- Features that make Apple Music better than the green app
- Settings I should enable or change
- Personalized playlists or stations I should check out
- Hidden gestures, shortcuts, or UI tricks
- Anything that took you a while to discover

Basically, if you only had one month to convince someone to sw itch, what would you tell them to try?

Does the Mac equalizer apply to all of your Apple Music?

I’m not yet an Apple Music user, but am considering switching to it. I’ve been looking and comparing features to see what I’d gain and whatnot, and discovered that Mac actually has a custom equalizer through AM? (https://support.apple.com/guide/music/adjust-the-sound-quality-museb684a3de/mac)

So basically what I’m asking here is: if you set a custom equalizer through this on Mac, does it apply to your whole AM account in general? As in, does the equalizer apply when you play music through your phone or another device? Or does your phone only rely on the presets in iPhone settings?

What do you love most about Apple Music?

I’m considering switching over from the green app, and would love to hear your favorite features about Apple Music, and what I would notice or love the most from a sw itch. Or what features one has that another doesn’t have, or one does better?

In general, what do you think makes Apple Music stand out from other streaming services?

Is a MacBook still useable for a ME degree?

I’m going into college for Mechanical Engineering, and I was wondering if a new MacBook Air would still be suitable for what the degree and classes include. I really want a MacBook, and don’t really want to get anything else, but is it really that bad for college? Plus, I’m sure I’ll still use it plenty for non-school uses as well, which again would make me prefer a MacBook over other options.

Would you avoid an accident or let it happen?

If you were about to get into an accident with another reckless driver that would 100% not be your fault, would you do everything in your power to avoid the crash, even if it means damaging your car from going off the road, hitting a guard rail, etc. (you’re at fault), and the other person remains damage free; OR would you just let the other person hit you and have their insurance pay you out (they’re at fault)?

I’m not talking head-on 70mph crash. I mean something like someone merging into you, or running you off the road, or someone running a stop sign in-town and about to hit you, etc. Not a fatal crash, but something that would still cause considerable damage.

And I was about to buy a refurbished m4 air for school…

I get it needs to be done, but damn… Now I gotta spend more, and it’s gonna take even more convincing to let my parents buy it

Give me reasons to or not to buy a manual??

So for my next car I plan to get a dodge challenger srt 392 (or scat pack if options are right). I’m still not sure whether I’d want to get a manual, or stick with an automatic.

I’ve never driven a manual before, but I love the idea of having control over the shifts. Just not sure what all comes with having a manual vs an automatic besides a clutch and gear shifter, so not sure if it is for me or not. I feel like the stuff that the auto offers (manual mode and paddle shifters) might fulfill, but I always hear people say that driving manual is a whole different experience that they don’t regret.

So for someone who’s never driven manual before, what differences can I expect, and why would you say it is worth it?

What exhaust setup are you running?

As the title says, what kind of exhaust setup do you have? Just curious what everyone uses, your preferences on sound, and your overall opinions on it.

Custom GPTs?

After coming across a few posts discussing people’s use cases for AI, there are a lot of mentions of using custom gpts. I’ve never really looked into that, and now I’m second-guessing whether I’m using ChatGPT to its full potential.

So what is the point of using custom gpts? Couldn’t I just start a new chat, and give a prompt, and it follows that theme throughout the chat? It has seemed to work for me all this time. What would I benefit out of using these custom GPTs?
