How do cis women treat you?

So it may be that where I live is a fairly accepting place, but most cis women that I know and encounter (even ones who knew me pre transition) are fine having me around them and are happy to count me as one of them. On multiple occasions, I’ve been approached by a cis woman in public and complimented on my fashion, and/or even given supportive comments!

I’ve had exactly two cis women give me grief, and one of them was clearly not playing with a full deck of cards. The other one just yelled at me from her car and that was it.

Back to positive moments, the first time a cis woman referred to me as being female with the phrase “well, we’re both women here” it definitely caught me off guard and I’m sure I blushed a deeper red than I ever have before.

Another was when I came out to my folks (father and step mom) and this one was unintentional on their part. Step mom asked me if this meant I was “gay” and into men. When I told her I was still into women, I also mentioned that, other than family members and close friends, I don’t like most guys. Without skipping a beat, she said “I don’t blame you, most guys are dicks!”.

Thoughts? What’s your experience with cis women? Are they accepting of you?

Who did the chorus backing on Superconductor?

Basically the title,

Who sang the backing vocals that are just the song’s title?

Was it Neil like on Subdivisions? Or was it Geddy’s voice with an effect like Roll the Bones? Or was it possibly Alex?

This has been bugging me all day

Is it good that Magician’s Nephew is being adapted first?

Basically the title,

On one hand, it takes place before everything else despite being written later, and gives some good context and backstory.

On the other hand, LWW, PC, and VOTDT can be read and understood without it. Sort of like how one doesn’t need to read the Silmarillion in order to understand The Hobbit and/or Lord of the Rings.

On the other *other* hand, starting with it is a good way for Netflix to differentiate their take on the story from the Walden movies. If they started with LWW, people might get confused about it being a “remake” of the old movie. If they start with Nephew and then do LWW, it’ll be more clear that this is a whole new thing.

Thoughts? Is it a good thing that Magician’s Nephew is being adapted first this time around? Also, it’s neat to see one of the books that hasn’t been adapted before be adapted.

How different is the Spanish spoken in Spain from the Spanish spoke in Mexico and Latin/South America?

So I don’t speak Spanish, but I’ve heard from people who do speak it, that what’s spoken in Spain is different from what’s spoken in Latin/South America. I’ve had at least one person tell me that “European” Spanish is closer to Italian than it is to what’s spoken in the New World.

Thoughts? Just how different are they?

If the Confederacy won it’s independence, could Robert E Lee have eventually been it’s president?

Basically the title,

Let’s say the Confederacy won it’s independence and was able to carry on as a separate nation long enough to have elections, could Lee have possibly ran and won? He was a well known general and respected through out the south, so it seems plausible. If Grant could be president of the USA, why not Lee as president of the CSA? How would he govern? Would he work as a civilian leader?

What if “our” Woody met another Woody doll?

So one of the major plot points of TS2 is that our Buzz met another Buzz figure. Said Buzz went through the “I’m a real space ranger” phase just like our Buzz did.

That got me wondering, what if, at some point, possibly while traveling with Bo, our Woody met another Woody doll? How would it go?

What if said Woody was self aware like ours is? What if he went through the “I’m a real sheriff” phase as unlikely as that is?

Can Horse and His Boy and Last Battle work as films?

So now that Magician’s Nephew is being made into a movie, that leaves only two Narnia books that haven’t been adapted to screen yet.

Question is, can they work as films?

Horse and His Boy would be difficult visually due to it being about a talking horse in live action. The effects to make it convincing and not look goofy would be very expensive.

Last Battle doesn’t seem that hard, but some of theological elements might be a hard sell.

Thoughts? Can these two work as films?

About Lucius’s being a death eater?

So I haven’t read the books or seen the movie in a long time, so forgive me if they address my question at some point,

Anyways, for some reason, I was watching a clip of the 4th movie, specifically, the one where Moody (the fake one that is) turns Draco into a ferret as punishment. Of course, once it’s over, Draco says his father will be hearing about it, and Moody tells Draco that he knows all kinds of awful things about Draco’s father Lucius.

That leads me to my question,

Lucius is a death eater and a high ranking one at that. During the first Wizarding war, he was close with Voldemort and presumably committed heinous acts against the wizarding world. However, in the years after that, he’s not in hiding or anything, he’s openly doing normal things in wizard society. He’s seen shopping at Diagon Alley, at quidditch matches, and even at Hogwarts itself.

Was he only secretly tied to Voldemort? Did everyone just forget about his involvement? What happened? Why isn’t he an outcast/wanted criminal like V’s other followers?

Is this ever explained? Or am I missing something?

If Chiang stayed in charge of China and Mao lost, who’s side would China be on?

Would they keep their alliance with the USA alive? Would they align with the Soviet’s due to proximity? Or would they possibly be their own third side?

Have Joker and Sinestro ever met?

If so, how did it go?

Considering Joker is basically the embodiment of fear, I imagine he’d make a good Sinestro Corp member.

What if Anne met the March Sisters?

So I’m not sure how it would happen in terms of plot, logistics, or timeline, but I think a meeting/crossover to these two would make a good story.

If this happened, how would it plausibly go? Which sister would Anne get along best with? Which one the least? I can see her and Jo butting heads but still be being friends. I’ve mentioned this in other places and I’ve heard some fans say that the Marches would happily consider Anne as an honorary fifth sister.

While on this topic, how would their respective guardians get along? I can see Marilla and Marmy getting along and exchanging stories about their respective girl(s). Although I’m not sure how well Matthew would get along with Mr March.

Thoughts? How would this play out? Also, and this is just me, but when I imagine this in my head, I imagine it being in the style of the anime adaptations each book got in the 70s/80s, yes, that really happened, each one has an anime based on them as odd as that sounds.

Bigger, Longer, and Uncut as a stage show?

So I doubt it’ll happen at this point, but imagine if Bigger, Longer, and Uncut was adapted as a stage show? If done right it would be hilarious to see!

I’ve mentioned this before to other fans, and an issue often brought up is that they couldn’t get away with kid actors in the roles of the boys. I say that can be solved by going the Peter Pan route and having the boys played by grown women.

Thoughts? Could this work?

What if China repeated it’s Korean War actions in Vietnam?

So we know that the USA, didn’t invade North Vietnam due to fear of this very thing happening, but what if China decided to do so anyways?

What China sent millions of troops southward into South Vietnam via North Vietnam, and surprise attacked the USA and South Vietnam with superior numbers?

Could they have plausibly been able to beat the USA and put the south under the north’s rule? Or would it have ended like Korea with a draw and a possibly a second DMZ?

What if the Confederacy had been allowed to secede and then it invaded Mexico and other places south of it?

Yes, this is a question I’m asking

What if the Union simply allowed the Confederate states to secede, and then the confederacy decided to invade Mexico? What about other places in Cuba and Latin America? Could they have plausibly succeeded?

How would the Union react to this?

How would the confederacy allowing black troops to fight actually have panned out?

So we all know that the confederacy was dead set against this idea from the very start, and they only reluctantly allowed it right when the war was about to end.

However, let’s say the war dragged on longer and/or the confederacy allowed black soldiers earlier on. How would it have realistically panned out?

Would slaves made soldiers remain loyal? Or would there be attempts at mutiny? Would they willingly fight the union? Or would they defect the second Union troops came near?

How about if a black confederate regiment happened to fight the 54th or another black Union regiment? That would definitely be an awkward situation if there ever was one.

Thoughts? Would it have made a difference? Or would it have been more hassle than it was worth?

Help finding a specific YTP I saw?

So there’s a specific YTP I remember seeing in the late 00s/early 10s, and I can’t seem to find it anywhere now. If anyone has any ideas what it was, please let me know.

What I remember is as follows,

The whole premise, was that Ganon (CDI) was basically running around mooning people.

The footage and audio was spliced so that he was saying

“I moon Link/Zelda/whoever”

And then it cuts to their reactions.

Anyone know which one I’m talking about?

The weirdest Civil War conversation I’ve ever had…..(Story)

So about 10 years ago, I had perhaps the weirdest conversation on this topic ever,

My father and I were talking about Abraham Lincoln, which of course lead to a civil war discussion. I mentioned that it was a four year affair and my dad was genuinely surprised and bewildered at this revelation!

He said “Four years? It was that long? I thought it was a little skirmish!”

In other words, he thought it was a one day “one and done” battle. I’ve racked my brain to try and figure out where he got this idea from, and the best I can pin it, is that he somehow got it mixed with either

A. The Whiskey Rebellion, which if I remember correctly, was a one or two day event

B. The Texas revolution, which was about a year or two long if Im remembering right.

Anyone else ever encounter a misconception like this? Any other events he could’ve gotten it confused with?

Also, if it was a one day small skirmish, there’s no way it would be the seminal event it is. Unless it was not only a one day battle, but also the biggest and deadliest battle of all time!
