Hi everyone. A few days ago, I made a post about Calabaza, who was diagnosed with pyometra. She has already had surgery and is recovering well, although she still needs to remain hospitalized. We raised a total of $377.79 for her, which covered the emergency vet visit, medications, ultrasound, surgery, and part of her hospitalization. We still have $182.48 left to cover for her hospital stay (assuming she doesn’t need to stay longer).
On another note, we have two free spay appointments scheduled for tomorrow! This is a huge relief, since we have several cats who still need to be spayed and it normally costs $100 per cat. The problem is that we currently have $227 in debt for transportation from all the emergencies and vet visits over the past few weeks, and they won’t take us tomorrow (we don’t have our own car) unless we pay for at least that trip upfront ($38). In other words, we need $38 to save $200 on spay surgeries, but unfortunately I don’t have that money right now, since I’ve had to cover several emergencies and food purchases.
Any help is deeply appreciated and truly makes a difference, no matter the amount ❤️

Hi everyone. This is Calabaza. Two weeks ago, I made a post asking for help to get her and seven other female cats spayed, but we only raised $50, and each surgery costs $100. Since then, I’ve tried asking for help a few more times, but several life threatening emergencies came up that we still haven’t finished paying for ($870 in debt at the moment), and we’ve barely managed to buy enough food for our 70+ rescued cats, so we’ve had to postpone the spays again and again.
Today, Calabaza started writhing and vocalizing in pain, and when we checked on her, we noticed a beige colored discharge, which is indicative of an infection. We rushed her to the vet, and the most likely diagnosis is pyometra. She was given antibiotics and medication to bring her fever down, but this is only to keep her from getting worse and buy us some time to get her into surgery. She needs an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis and get a clear picture of the situation before surgery, followed by removal of her uterus (and ovaries). She is stable right now, but this can progress very quickly and could become life threatening, so we need to get the ultrasound done tomorrow.
The ultrasound costs $115. We don’t know the exact cost of the surgery yet, but considering that a routine spay (ovaries only) costs $100, and this would be an emergency surgery, I estimate it will be around $200. I’ll update the post as soon as I know the exact price.
Any help is deeply appreciated and truly makes a difference, no matter the amount. I’ll post updates about her in the comments, since I won’t be able to make another post for a couple of days due to the sub’s rules.

Thank you so much, everyone ❤️
He’s only 5 months old, but he’s already the size of a full-grown cat. He’s a transfer from another rescue in a different city that doesn’t have a FeLV area, so they could only keep him in a cage. Here, he has plenty of space, a catio, and lots of friends (he’s already getting to know them and starting to play with them!)
Marrau is a hugger. Ever since we rescued him, when he had an abscess on his face, he has always wanted to be held. When the abscess burst and he had to have it cleaned and get staples, he let them do the entire procedure as long as he was being held. And whenever something makes him a little anxious, he looks for a hug.
But the sweetest thing is that you can actually feel him relaxing. He may start off acting anxious because he’s nervous, but once he’s in your arms, you can feel his whole body relaxing second by second until he’s completely calm. Then he just stays there until he falls asleep or starts purring.
This time, he decided to give the ultrasound technician a hug after his ultrasound for his abdominal hernia
Hello everyone. A few days ago, I made a post asking for help with ultrasounds for Marrau, Bella, and Silver, who have been waiting for them for over a month. We scheduled the ultrasounds several times, but had to cancel them because we didn’t have the funds. This time, we decided to go ahead with them because if we rescheduled, they wouldn’t be able to give us another appointment for several weeks.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to raise enough to cover them. The total cost is $340, and we raised $80, so we’re still $260 short. They won’t send us the results until we pay. They kindly agreed to perform the ultrasounds anyway even though they normally only work with payment in advance, but until we make the payment, they won’t give us the results.
We need the results as soon as possible, as they’re essential to knowing how to proceed with their treatment and whether they need surgery or not. This is especially important for Marrau, who has an abdominal hernia that has changed in shape and size, and we don’t know whether his intestines are protruding through the hernia or not.
On the other hand, our last food purchase ($157) is still not covered by donations. I paid for that food myself because we weren’t receiving any donations, but they needed to eat. That food has now run out, so we urgently need to buy more, but this time I can’t cover it on my own.
Since we have more than 70 rescued cats and also feed strays, our food expenses are around $300 per week. Also, because we’re located in Uruguay, we can’t use wishlists, so we don’t have the support of people who can only donate that way, which makes it very difficult to cover their food week after week.
Any help is deeply appreciated and truly makes a difference, no matter the amount ❤️

Thank you all so much!
Hello everyone. We have more than 70 rescued cats at our rescue and also care for several dozen strays, but right now we have no capacity to provide veterinary care, because we’ve had several emergencies over the past few days and our veterinary debt has now reached $650 (which is basically an entire month’s salary here in Uruguay).
Until we pay off this debt, we can’t schedule any new appointments or deal with other emergencies, which is absolutely unsustainable with so many cats in our care.
We also have eight female cats waiting to be spayed. I recently made a post asking for help with this, and we raised $50, but each spay costs $100, so we currently have enough funds for 0.5 out of 8...
We also have three cats waiting for urgent ultrasounds. One of them is Marrau, who has an abdominal hernia that has changed in shape and size, and it could be his intestines coming out of place. Bella had lumps palpated in her abdomen by the vet, and Silver has diarrhea with a lot of blood. They all need their ultrasounds as soon as possible, but we haven’t been able to get them done due to lack of funds, as we’ve barely managed to cover food (and nothing for transportation or cleaning supplies).
Any help is deeply appreciated and truly makes a difference, no matter the amount ❤️
