Hello everyone. This morning I heard noises in the catio, and when I went to check what was going on, I found this girl trying desperately to get in (climbing and pushing against the wire mesh). I went out to get her, and she came running as soon as she heard the door. I gave her some food, and she was clearly very hungry, but also looking for affection.

She seems to have an issue with one of her eyes, she’s likely not spayed, and she needs a general check-up at the vet.

Someone most likely abandoned her here overnight, since we know all the local strays and had never seen her before. She’s also so desperate to get inside the house and receive affection that I’d bet she used to have a home :(

A lot of people in town already know we help cats, and it seems like some think it’s our job or something...

Just in case, we’ve already gone door to door asking if anyone knows her, and we’ll be putting up signs everywhere (chips are not common here). But in the meantime, we need help getting her to her first vet visit.

We still have $425 in debt from Mofletes’ vet expenses, and we simply can’t take on even one more dollar of debt. I’ll share the receipts later, and you can see our full receipt history in the corresponding link.

Hello everyone. Two days ago, I made a post asking for help to buy food, as we had run out that same day. We raised enough to buy food for our FeLV+ cats with a special gastrointestinal diet (13 cats), but not for the rest of the cats in our rescue (another 60).

Each large bag of food costs around $110, and we need two per week. Since we can’t use wishlists due to our location (South America), it’s extremely difficult to raise that amount every week. Usually, when donations don’t come through, I pay for the food myself and then try to recover the cost later, but right now I have around $1500 in accumulated rescue expenses, and I’m also dealing with the costs of relocating our rescue (because the place we were renting is being sold), so this time I simply don’t have the money.

I couldn’t let them go hungry these past few days, so I used the money I had for my own food to buy loose food for them, but even that is running out now. I’m sorry for mentioning this, I don’t want to put pressure on anyone, I only share it so you know I’m doing the best I can, and that I truly give everything I can before coming here to ask for help.

Hello everyone. I just gave them the very last of the food we had left, and it’s urgent that we buy more. Usually I buy it with my own money so they don’t have to wait, and then try to recover the cost through donations, but I’ve done that so many times with other expenses that right now the “debt” to myself is $1260, and I only have a few dollars left that I need in order to eat until I get paid in more than two weeks.

Unfortunately we can’t use wishlists here in Uruguay, so we don’t have the support of people who only donate that way, and it makes buying food extremely difficult. Each 20 kg bag costs $110, and we need two per week to feed everyone, plus another $100 for the FeLV+ cats’ food. That means it’s around $320 per week just in dry food for more than 70 rescued cats, plus some strays from colonies where we do TNR and provide veterinary care whenever one of them needs it.

Any help is deeply appreciated 🤍

Hello everyone. As I mentioned in previous posts, our landlord is going to sell the house we’re renting, and we have to leave it completely empty by June 1st (so, in just a little over two weeks).

We already found a new place, made it cat-proof and safe, and now we’re in the process of moving all of our rescued cats.

We’ve already moved 20 cats, but right now the debt is so overwhelming (due to veterinary expenses, making the new place safe for the cats, and transportation costs so far) that we can’t continue moving them without some support.

Transporting 10 cats costs $54 (we don’t have our own car), and the current debt is $1,415.

We urgently need to keep moving them as soon as possible in order to meet the deadline. Any help is deeply appreciated and truly makes a difference 🤍

Hello everyone. Right now we have $522 in uncovered veterinary expenses due to Toto’s neurological illness (it turned out not to be neuro FIP, and we’re still running tests to figure out what it is) and Mofletes’ kidney stones. Both of them were taken in within the last few days, they were strays suffering immensely and likely would not have survived if we hadn’t helped them, which is why we took on that responsibility despite the financial situation we’re currently in.

As for the relocation of our rescue, we paid a total of $825 for materials to secure the entrance (we have several escape artists, so we need a “second barrier” at the front door, especially because we’re located next to a highway), safety netting for the windows, and transportation for the first 10 cats being moved. We’re doing the work ourselves to reduce costs, but even so it’s overwhelming, and there are still more than 60 cats left to transport.

Meanwhile, the veterinary treatments and food expenses never stop, so any support truly helps us keep going one more day 🤍

Hello everyone. This is Mofletes (Cheeks), a stray who a few days ago was lying in the middle of the street, unable to move and crying in pain. We thought he had a broken rib because we could feel something out of place when touching him, but it turned out to be an old fracture, and the cause of his current pain is kidney stones. We found this out after taking him to the vet and doing bloodwork, a urine analysis, and an ultrasound.

He has been hospitalized at the vet ever since, receiving treatment. He’s doing quite a bit better, but he’s still in some pain and having difficulty urinating.

We received local help to cover the start of his treatment and the ultrasound, but the hospitalization, medication, renal food, bloodwork, and FIV/FeLV test are still unpaid. As of today, there are $410 left to cover, but that amount increases with each day he needs to stay hospitalized. In addition, once he’s ready, he also needs to be neutered.

As you can see, he is incredibly sweet 🤍 Any help is deeply appreciated and truly makes a difference!

On another note, an update about Toto, the cat with suspected neuro FIP:

We’re starting to suspect that he may not actually have neuro FIP, but something else instead. He’s already been on treatment for several days, and by now we should have seen some improvement, but he continues to get worse.

His FeLV test came back positive, so we now suspect that may be the cause. He will have an ultrasound tomorrow to evaluate whether he has a tumor related to FeLV (we’ve had cases like that before), and depending on the results we’ll decide how to proceed.

In the post about him, we raised $50 to buy GS (the FIP treatment), but someone donated a few vials, so we’ll use that money to pay for tomorrow’s ultrasound instead. I’ll let you all know the results afterward.

Hello everyone. Two days ago I made a post asking for help buying food for our rescued cats. We raised $65, which was only enough for one small bag that ran out the same day (the large bag, which has a much better quantity-to-price ratio, costs $110, and we couldn’t reach that amount).

To keep them from going hungry, we asked for help from someone we know who also rescues cats in a nearby city. She lent us half a bag of food, which they ate yesterday and this morning, and that has now run out as well.

We urgently need to buy at least one $110 bag for today, and also return the one we borrowed (she also feeds dozens of cats and needs it back as soon as possible).
