Hello folks.
I have a small working trip ahead and I'm questioning myself whether I should bring my cpap with me or not, it will be 4 days 3 nights away.
Too much hassle?
Hey folks, I'm sorry for making a new post I'm just super anxious for my dad, I wrote this post
He had 4 biopsies in the last 20 years all BPH and the urologist says it might be just BPH given his condition, no symptoms and bone scan.
We should get the results soon, I'll keep you posted.
Thanks for this community.
Hi everyone. I am posting here because I am quite anxious about my father's recent results and I am looking for some community insight or shared experiences.
My dad is 86 years old and very healthy for his age. He still drives, stays active, and has no major memory issues. He has a pacemaker for carotid sinus hypersensitivity and a very mild case of COPD that does not require oxygen.
Here is his clinical background:
• He has had high PSA (over 100) periodically for about 20 years.
• He has undergone 4 previous biopsies, all of which were negative for cancer and only showed Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
• He had a partial prostatectomy in the past, but his prostate is currently 88cc (roughly the size of a tennis ball).
• He is currently taking Duodart (Tamsulosin and Dutasteride).
His most recent PSA came back at 150. The urologist wanted to start hormone therapy immediately to lower his testosterone, but my father preferred to wait for the biopsy results first. We just finished the biopsy and are waiting for the report.
I am trying to prepare for the possible paths ahead:
Scenario A: The biopsy is positive for cancer
• How effective is hormone therapy (ADT) for a man in his late 80s?
• Are there surgical options for someone with his profile (pacemaker and mild COPD), or is surgery usually avoided at this age?
Scenario B: The biopsy is negative (BPH)
• At 86, is surgery generally recommended for a prostate size of 88cc?
• What are the most effective treatments or minimally invasive options for a prostate that size?
I would really appreciate any advice from people who have dealt with similar PSA levels or treatment decisions for elderly, active parents. Thank you for your help.
My native language is spanish, i find it quite hard to explain medical terms in english so i had to use AI to make this post.
No hate plz.
Howdy folks.
I'm a cpap user as y'all but I'm waking up in the morning to an empty water tank and the smell of plastic, I've tried to lower the humidity to 3-4 but I still have wake up to an empty tank and have to refill it so I can sleep 2-3 hours more.
I go to sleep at 11pm, and wake up at 5ish in the morning with the empty tank. Yeah I sleep a lot, I work at home and don't need to commute so I wake up at 7:59 to log in to work at 8:00.
I don't use a heated tube, is a pretty standard tube with a full face mask.
Looking forward to your recommendations and tips.
