Got a rash from new furniture. What should I do, and what might I be reacting to?

I keep getting a rash from my balcony chairs--significant hives that start immediately and last over a week. I thought it had to be something else, but it's pretty obviously starting when I sit on these.

Any thoughts on what I'm reacting to? Should I just scrap the cushions or the entire set? Is it the cushions or rope material (see pic)? I hate to ever waste money, but the seller won't confirm the materials, and I've been miserable, lol. And I don't know if it's worth "testing" again to see if I have a reaction to the base, etc. I was thinking it had to be the cushions, but it's such a severe reaction; I've never had something like this happen from furniture. Thank you!

Fragrance and acrylate-free hair gel (for wavy/curly hair)? Or mousse perhaps?

I know I have a fragrance allergy; right now I'm trying to eliminate acrylates because my skin has been a nightmare. I want to see if it helps! But since I can't do fragrances or essential oils of any kind, my options are already limited. I have loads of hair that needs hold, and most FF gels contain acrylates.

Symptoms: Bumpy and dry hands, red knuckles, peeling nails, significant flushing on my face, chest, and arms right after showering (redness/patchiness lingers but to a lesser degree). Heat sensation on my skin. I only use Vanicream right now, but that would mean my shampoo, gel, and body wash could be potential culprits. But the gel is the hardest one to find. Docs kept saying it's rosacea and sensitive skin, but I legit turn crimson after washing my hair, so something is up.

Yes, I'm going to get patch tested, but I want my skin to clear a bit first before I do that to myself, lol. ;(

Looking for cool-toned blush recommendations for *highly* sensitive skin.

Think lilac, cool baby pink, soft rose, etc. I was using revolution's lilac (the shimmery one), but it's been discontinued. Before that I used milani, but that was before the formula change. Panna cotta intrigues me but not sure how my skin will like talc? I have been patch testing it successfully but am nervous to try it, lol. I *know* I have a fragrance allergy, but beyond that I just react to stuff. Hard to pin down. But I would love a simple formula for this reason.

Thanks!!

Any tips for healing post-rash marks and cuts? I very rarely scratch but had a bad flare of contact derm, and the marks will not heal for anything, though I've left them alone for weeks.

I could live with some redness and discoloration, but the proper cuts won't heal, and it's so obvious. Ugh. I only scratched it in a few spots a couple weeks ago. My skin is just angry because it took me so long to figure out what I've been reacting to for months (my laundry detergent). I've switched it and re-washed everything, but my skin barrier has been compromised for ages.

I'd love any tips. Thanks!

▲ 6 r/eczema

I have both eczema and rosacea, so my skin really needs to breathe, lol. I currently have microfiber, but I'm thinking 100 percent cotton would likely be better. I was also told to look for a percale? blend but not sure if that makes a different.

I was thinking All Free and Clear, Arm and Hammer Sensitive Skin, or Seventh Gen Sensitive Skin, but I'm open to all thoughts and recs. Thanks!

Wondering if cerave a.m. isn't working for me because I put it on my chest, and it got patchy within the day and has been red for a week! (I get upper body rosacea.) But at least the feeling of irritation has gone.

Maybe the chemical sunscreen or niacinamide? I thought my face was tolerating it, but maybe it's increasing my baseline redness? I'm going to try Vanicream, I think.

I.e., do they dry out your hair or irritate your skin (mine is crazy sensitive), and do they have some hold.

I need a leave in/curl cream, but I also need an alternative for vanicream gel, which is currently out of stock. I have long, dense wavy hair, 2b/c, frizz-prone and a little dry but oily at the scalp, low porosity. Thanks. 😄

I get chest rosacea, so that's what I'm referring to here. I've cycled through a few soaps, but the Vanicream body wash has been fine on my arms so far--no irritation there--and I've been testing it for days. I used azelaic acid and then added a little cerave am (which I use on my face). But my chest is bumpier than normal and a little red/itchy (I typically have more of an issue with flushing, very sparse bumps). Wondering which it is.

I'd been wondering about the a.m.; I don't get as much bumpiness on my face, but maybe the niacinamide or chemical sunscreen has been contributing to ongoing facial redness, but I reacted more on my chest? I am really sensitive there. I feel like that's the most likely; what do you think? Going to try vanicream/mineral spf and see if I live to tell the tale, lmao.

I had tried azelaic in the past and had to pause, but it had never caused bumps, just some temporary increase in redness when I went outside. Hence why I tried sunscreen there.

Preferably freelance, but I'm open to full-time. I want to know if a pivot into this is a good idea and worth the time investment. Is the pay (and standard freelancer rates), typically speaking, better or about the same? And is it similar in terms of the number opportunities out there? I'm not sure where you'd go besides LinkedIn and sites like Upwork. For freelance book editors, for example, there are various bookish communities on different social media platforms.

I edit mostly creative content, though I have edited more technical content at times. My background is in writing and editing too (English BA and psych minor, writing MFA). I've done some basic coding, but it's something I'd be interested in building on. I know there are different types of technical writers, but I'm not sure all of what's out there, though I'm looking at starting an intro course.
