36[F4M] Vancouver/Europe Childfree woman looking for an educated and witty man to have funny and interesting conversations with

Currently, I live in Asia but will relocate to Vancouver as a permanent resident next month.

I’ve lived in different countries and speak 4 languages. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to ride a bike…I always feel bad when I have to say no to cycling dates.

I have an MBA from a university in the United States but decided to leave when Trump won. I’m learning German so I’m thinking about going there to study in a couple of years. But I’ll eventually return to Canada as I’m required to live there for certain amount of time.

I like reading, swimming, and watching movies. I have to admit that there’re many books that I’ve bought but haven’t read in my house🤣 I’m still pondering whether I should bring them with me to Canada.

While I can talk about new product development and business strategy, I can also be very goofy. My favorite day of the year is April Fool, because I can prank people without consequences…

I’m looking for someone educated and witty with a good sense of humor. I tend to fill my schedule with a lot of work or projects, so I would like to meet someone who can make me smile and relax at the end of the day. Being childfree and a non-smoker is a must.

If you’re interested, please send me a DM and introduce yourself.

Unfortunately, my country is banned by the Trump administration. Therefore, I can’t immigrate to the United States but will be able to visit. If you live there, please keep in mind that relocation might happen down the road.

It started with feeding birds…. This is where we are now.

My dad used to say not to feed the squirrels and I quickly found out why… but I love all the little critters and creatures in my backyard and I’m thankful I can feed them all!!! Just wanted to share this silly picture.

What is the worst thing passport bros have done in your country?

So dude was getting sexual services from a minor and killed her. He then hid her body in a suitcase and tried to escape the country.

I don’t care that she was a sex worker, no one deserves to die like this. And dude knows that if he tries to do anything sexual with a minor in Australia, he’d be in big trouble.

People who live in a country where it’s usually cold but is now getting hotter, how do you cope with extreme heat?

As someone from a hot country, I feel like we’re very used to heat and sunlight. People here will just carry an umbrella and drink water as much as they can.

But I wonder how people in the colder parts of the world survive this?

CEO expected me to learn about my job through AI. He later fired me, and I can’t wait to kick his ass back

https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/s/cx36runlVI

So basically, I got hired as a purchaser for a food trading company. I’ve never worked in this role/industry. The company provided close to zero onboarding. And during my first performance review, the CEO called me a slow learner with the worst performance and suggested me to use AI to learn about my job. This company isn’t in the United States, so the laws and customs are different.

Before I joined this company, I said in each round of interview that I’d need to take a couple of days off to attend a wedding this month. I also informed the HR team and my direct supervisor after joining.

A week before the wedding, I mentioned it to Jenny, my supervisor, she was okay with it and reminded me that I should also contact the CEO. So I thought the company was cool with it. But the CEO was…furious. He said he couldn’t remember this wedding and that I wasn’t entitled to any leave as I was still under probation. I immediately apologized and said I should’ve communicated better. He then said failed communication would ruin relationships.

20 minutes later, I got a call from the head of the HR department. When I went to her office, she informed me that I didn’t pass my probation. She said it was due to my performance, but it was weird because 1. The CEO told me he’d give me until the end of this month 2. There was no performance review/KPI 3. The CEO just PRAISED my performance a couple days before. The HR manager said I’d get to work for another 30 days but I was also allowed to quit earlier. Of course, they’d only pay me during that duration.

A few days after that, I went to the wedding.

But there’re things that the company doesn’t know. First, I already have permanent residency in a Western country and was just hoping to save money before leaving (I did consider going to that country to finish the immigration process then come back and continue working for a year because I really enjoyed the work. But even before getting fired, I had already decided that I’d leave asap). Second, I’ve recorded every interaction I had with the CEO and the HR team (it’s not illegal here).

On the second day of my leave, I returned from the wedding and went to the labor protection office. They informed me that what the company was trying to do was illegal.

So in my country, an employee who gets terminated will be entitled to 2 months of pay. If your payday is at the end of the month, you will have to inform them about the termination before/on May 31. That employee will then continue to work for you until June 30. This way, they’ll get 2 months of salary. You can let them go immediately or have them work until June 30, but you still have to pay.

But if you tell them on June 1, the termination will actually happen on July 31. Therefore, I am entitled to pay until July 31 in this situation.

In addition to that, the HR manager explicitly told me that I could leave early. Legally speaking, this doesn’t mean I quit by my will as the firing has already happened. In fact, I can work until June 30, and the company is still required to pay me until July 31.

So today, I’ve told the HR manager that I’m quitting at the end of this month. Then my last day, at the last minute, I’ll send another email to her and demand for the pay. Of course, the company will ignore it, but I will gather everything and submit it together with my voice recordings to the labor protection department, saying that the company is deliberately ignoring the law.

By the way, I’m also entitled to compensation paid by social security, which is quite good money, because I’ve been fired. This wouldn’t have happened if I resigned.

If the company tries not to pay, I may also sue them for unlawful termination. Here, you need to have proper performance review and documentation before firing someone, and, as mentioned above, I have the recordings and texts between me and the CEO.

I’m moving to the country where I have permanent residency soon, as this firing has helped me a lot financially. I also know that the CEO hates spending resources on something/someone he sees as useless. So having to give me money for free will make his blood boil. Well, he will have to pay, otherwise the labor department will come after him and his company.

For me, this is a great way to say fuck you. If the labor protection department asks us to meet there for negotiations(very unlikely though), I’d tell him I’ve learned all this by using AI just like he suggested.

What’s the weirdest question you’ve been asked on a dating app? I got asked if I was a ladyboy.

I didn’t use dating apps for many years. But during a recent trip abroad, I decided to download one of them after having some wine.

As soon as the guys learned that I was from Thailand, they’d start asking if I was a ladyboy. Fortunately, everyone was very polite about it…

And no, I’m not a ladyboy🤣

In your country, what is something that is banned although it shouldn’t be?

The author of this story, a Western woman, worked in the palace as an English teacher.

While there’re fictional characters, the main reason that this book, as well as any film stemming from it, is banned in Thailand, is because it might tarnish the monarchy’s image.

In your country, what animal in has a reputation for being a complete asshole?

Long-tailed macaques in Lopburi are known for being aggressive and fearless. They can and will attack the locals for food.

As a result, kids have to carry air guns just to go to school.

India cannot deny its "rape mentality" anymore

The facade of 'not all men' and 'false cases' has finally, irrevocably shattered. If you want to know the soul of a culture, look at what it laughs at. Look at what it rewards with a microphone and a cash prize.

Context - For the uninitiated, or for those who willfully blocked it out to preserve their sanity, here is what happened. A 23 yr old web developer stands up at a stand-up comedy show in Gurgaon. He gets the mic. He decides to share a 'hilarious' anecdote about a date.

He bought a woman chicken biryani. It cost him ₹370 (that's about $3.8). When she asked to be dropped home, he decided that a plate of rice entitled him to her body.

He said - "Maine kaha 370 rupay lage hain, main wasool toh karunga." (TR : I said I've spent 370 rupees, I will definitely recover it.)

Let that sink in. (Yes, read that AGAIN.)

He then proceeded to describe, to a room full of laughing, cheering peers, how he wore down her defenses. How he ignored her 'No.' How he pushed past her visible hesitation, dragged her into a dark park, and forcefully put his hand inside her clothes.

He didn't confess this in a dark interrogation room. He confessed it on a stage, under bright lights, into a microphone. And what did he get? Laughter. Applause. The comedian hosting the show literally handed him a cash prize.

This is the rape mentality in its purest, most casual form: The belief that a woman is a transaction, and her consent is a commodity that can be bought for the price of a plate of rice.

We are tired of the gaslighting. We are tired of being told that India’s rape crisis is a poverty/rural issue. This happened in Gurgaon, a corporate hub, involving an educated web developer and a room full of middle-class youth who found the description of sexual coercion hilarious.

They’ll tell you it’s a joke. They’ll tell you men are the real victims of a changing social landscape. But when the lights go down and the camera is rolling, they aren't afraid. They aren't victims. They are predators who feel so safe in their entitlement that they will confess to a crime for a laugh.

Gurgaon man fired after viral ₹370 biryani remark

The aftermath of the video followed the exact, predictable script of modern accountability. The internet outraged. The man’s employer promptly fired him (while claiming that he's a perfectly well behaved individual) to protect their brand image. The comedian issued a hollow apology and deactivated his Instagram.

(Corporate PR cleanup crews working overtime?)

But firing one man doesn't cure the disease. This wasn't one bad apple. This was a room full of middle-class, educated, upwardly mobile youth acting as a mirror to society. The audience laughed because the premise made sense to them. The idea that a woman becomes a financial transaction the moment a man pays for dinner is a widely accepted social contract in the dark corners of the collective psyche.

No one in that room stood up. NO ONE stopped the mic. No one said, 'Hey man, you're describing a crime, you sexually assaulted someone!.'

No, SYBAU about fake cases, it's not a rural issue, we're not overreacting, it's not just a joke!

To every woman reading this who feels sick to their stomach: Your anger is correct. Your hyper-vigilance is justified. Do not let them tell you that you are overreacting.

We are living in a reality where our safety, our dignity, and our consent are treated as commodities with a depreciating value. If a plate of biryani is enough to justify stripping away a woman's right to say no, then ZERO women are safe.

The facade is broken. We see you. We see what you laugh at when you think we aren't looking. And we are absolutely done being polite about it.

In your country, how connected are people of Indian descent to India?

Recently, I met a Thai woman of Indian descent. Her great-grandparents moved here almost a hundred years ago, but she said she still got sent to a boarding school in India as a child to learn about the culture.

According to her, many families of Indian descent still have strong ties to India. For instance, kids will get enrolled in boarding schools in India, and they still have arrange marriages (that was how she got married to her husband too).

I also have a client of Indian descent. His family immigrated here before WW2, so he speaks perfect Thai. But because he got sent to India for schooling, he couldn’t write in Thai. He also mentioned a story from Mahabharata in our conversation. Both of them have Indian names. The lady still visits her friends and family in India.

My family immigrated from China after WW2 as well. However, I have to say that most people of Chinese descent here don’t feel Chinese at all. I can’t speak a single word in Chinese and have never visited my grandparents’ families in China. I don’t know much about the Lunar New Year except that we wear red clothes and kids get money in red envelopes.

I’ve read somewhere that an immigrant family will be completely assimilated by the 3rd generation (and that’s literally happened to my family),so this is such an interesting phenomenon to me.

What’s something you had to go through as a child because the adults in your life thought it would benefit you, but it ended up doing the opposite?

My middle school had this virtue camp where we would have to spend a couple nights at school and learn how to behave from monks.

No, it wasn’t a regular lesson about Buddhism. In fact, the tactics were manipulative and abusive. For instance, they’d show us a video of a pig getting slaughtered before meal so that we’d be more appreciative of our food. Or, worse, they’d show us a video of a woman giving birth to instill the notion that we owe our parents and they can’t do no wrong.

A friend of mine had wanted to study medicine. But because of the birth scene, she became so traumatized that she decided to choose another profession.

In hindsight, it was just a way to control and morph us into obedient and meek kids. Unfortunately, many parents supported this hellish camp because…well…Asian parents.
