Junior year dorm room

Im 19 years old and this is the first time i've ever decorated a room without the help of mom and dad. I live about 6 hours from home so I got here about 4:30pm and put all my stuff in here. I think i did pretty good!

I'm an RA so i've moved in a little bit early today. Fall camp for football starts on tuesday and i'm an assistant coach so I'll be doing that too, and when student ambassador training starts soon I'll do that too. Probably won't be spending much time in here for a while lol

Nice area for me to do my hobbies on my desk, im big into painting warhammer. I don't do schoolwork in my dorm because I work better with lots of noise around so dining hall is the way to go for me.

Yes I need to clean my pillows. They're all yellow.

If you were trying to get the most out of this army in one year, whats the order you'd buy stuff in?

Hey guys! I'm a freakin plastic Crack addict. I've been playing Warhammer for just over 1 year now and have a 2000 point list of Tyranids, Ultramarines, and Imperial Knights. To combat my scattered purchases i'm going to commit to a single army for the entire year of 2027, being the Eldar. I want to get the most out of it, meaning I'd like a good collection of stuff like Wraiths, Aspect Warriors, Corsairs, and Harlequins. I chose this army because of how colorful it looks on the tabletop, so my top priority is getting some sickass aspect warriors.

For a picture of my finances, I'm a college kid that doesnt drink so usually on nights that my buddies all get drinks I just hang out with them and order myself a nice warhammer kit on amazon. We spend similar amounts of money lol. I get paid ~650 dollars per month from the school since i'm an RA and Ambassador. I use 150-200 dollars of it on warhammer, the other 500ish dollars goes into an IRA, groceries, taking my girlfriend out on dates, and saving for an engagement ring.

I'm thinking I'll start off with the combat patrol in January because I'll probably use all of that stuff. Ideally in my biggest copes and dreams theres gonna be an aspect warriors box this christmas, but i know its unlikely. But beyond the combat patrol i was thinking all of the phoenix lords + 5 of their aspect warriors for all of the ones that didnt come in the box?

Tl;Dr: What would yall do if you had roughly 1200-1800 dollars and an entire year to build an Aeldari collection that touches on each of the subfactions

What phoenix lords are worth running in squads of 10? Which should only be ran in squads of 5?

Hey guys!

Potential new Eldar player here. The phoenix lords are some of my favorite character sculpts in the game, so i'm going to build a list with my favorites being Asurmen, Fuegan, Baharroth, Lykhis, and Jain Zar. Those 5 with attached MSU squads is 1110 points so I can definitely afford to make one of two a 10 man squad. Whichever squads go up to 10 will be riding in a wave serpent i think. I'm thinking of having fuegan+dragons atleast riding in something because they're valuable

Edit: I'm definitely hearing Barry + 10 hawks. Question is, deepstrike or just have them on the board? I know i can pick them up too

Edit 2: I have a little list formulated i think running each of them with 5 bodygaurd. I'm not a crazy big fan of the idea of the avatar but i'm a huge fan of T11 2+ 4++ 14 wounds halve damage. Here it is:

1xAvatar

1xAsurman+5 Dire Avengers riding in Falcon

1xFuegan+5 Fire Dragons riding in Falcon

1x5 Jain Zar+5 Banshees riding in Falcon

1x5 Baharroth +5 Swooping Hawks

1x5 Lhykis +5 Warp spiders

1x3 Shining spears

2x5 Striking scorpions

That doesnt really feel like a ton of drops to me being only 9, but each of the 9 seem to be pretty high quality investments?

Need some advice to help my buddy beat me

Hey guys! Nids, Ultras, and knights player here. My buddy plays tau and is really trying hard to play with me and keep up (I wish he'd paint his models but i'm just happy he's here!)

I would not call my lists good or meta, but they are very much structured around playing the mission. I play some high toughness stuff but he brings high strength shooting. I can't provide you with an exact list that he uses but its something like

1x10 kroot

1x10 farstalkers

2x5 vespid

2x3 sunforge each led by Coldstar, usually one in deepstrike

1xRiptide

2x5 Stealth suits

1x10 pathfinder

1xStormsurge

Other stuff too but I just dont remember. I can provide my lists if anyone's interested in seeing them. In my opinion he stays back too much but then again yall are Tau so i'm not really sure what to tell him. Turns usually go something like this:

T1: If I go first, I move my stuff up into hidden staging positions and pre-measure anything that i'm worried about. If he goes first its usually poking his head out as best as possible. If i'm completely hidden sometimes he just moves his utility pieces and passes.

T2: Usually he pops one of my big units pretty good, but never usually enough to outright kill it. By this point i'm threatening charges and on all of the middle objectives.

T3: I'm in melee and i've won the game pretty much. Sometimes 4 and 5 don't happen because he'll forfeit. We play on gw terrain so this is usually about the time I reach melee when I play random at the lgs, or even earlier.

I'd like to give him some advice and help him. I taught him about screening a few games ago and its slowed me down moderately so that was successful. Unfortunately games are ending with me scoring upwards of 80 points and him below 30.

I'd really like to help him out so he can enjoy the game a little more. Do you guys have any advice for me to give him? I'll share him this post if i end up getting some good answers.

How do yall win games?

Hey guys, looking at Aeldari as my 4th army but when list building i'm struggling. I want to play aspect host herohammer.

With my Tyranids, I win games by standing on objectives more efficiently than you do. My battleline is cheaper than your battleline, my monsters are cheaper than the tanks you need to kill them, so I just have more stuff. My Ultramarines have higher toughness and wounds per model, so i'm forcing you to dedicate more firepower than you'd like in order to shift me so I win games by being hard to move. With my Knights I win games by killing stuff. Its a skew list so theres not much else to it.

I'm struggling to figure out what that is for the Eldar. If anybody could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. I love the look of Swooping Hawks and striking scorpions so i'm thinking they'll be my first test models. Thanks!

Some advice for a first time credit owner?

Hey guys! I'm a 19 year old college student and just got a credit card from Capitol one because I recognize thay I should probably start trying to build a line of credit.

Im terrified of credit card debt

A little bit about me financially. During the school year I rake in ~600 dollars per month, and put 150 of it into my IRA which is doing well. I've invested 1300 so far and my portfolio is worth 1560. I'm mostly in stuff like infrastructure. I have expensive hobbies and i have been known to be a little bit impulsive, but i couldn't even really dream of putting anything on this card it scares me too much. I should probably mention btw its Capitol Ones quick silver card, I have a 1000 dollar limit (yikes holy shit) and a 24% apr which my parents have told me is about average.

Finally my dad convinced me to use it for something so I spent 50 bucks on a magnet kit for my new warhammer model and then went to pay off half of it from my debit card (I can't yet since the purchase is still pending but whenever it goes through i'm gonna pay half.

Any pointers for me? My family isn't super money savvy but we do well just by brute force of my dad earning a good paycheck. I'm in debt from my student loans but thats a whole different discussion.

Rebased ole papa smurf, what do yall think?

Didn't really vibe with the base he gets in the kit, decided I'd throw my own base on there. Pretty standard treatment for my marines except i typically don't put trophies on them (save for some of my tanks)

Once painted it'll have tundra tufts and model snow on there.

Anybody know when we'll get the Konorius datasheet?

Hey guys, saw the orks are starting to get their datasheets revealed. Is that just because they're gonna get the first codex? Not really sure how they could've won since last i checked the best they could do is tie.

Am i stupid?

How satisfied are you with your army?

Hey guys! I'm looking at getting a new army around christmas time. Its currently between emperors children and Night lords. I posted on their sub a while back and got a pretty overwhelmingly 7/10. Wondering what yall think of yours?

I'm looking at running Nightmare hunt/Cabal of Chaos or just something like veterans/murdertalons to still have a generic list that feels night lords-ey. I really like Raptors and Obliterators. I play tyranids and keep a tyrannofex in reserves sometimes so that i can get atleast 1 clear shot with it, Oblits feel just like that.

My LGS has the nightlords combat patrol for average price right now.

Tl;Dr on a scale of 1-10 how satisfied are you with your army? Would you reccomend it to others? What do you like? What needs to be fixed?

Rep ex and Calgar are pretty safe purchases right?

Hey guys! New codex is just around the corner. I know of course nobody really knows but the chapter master and a big tank feel like they'll always be pretty relevant for our chapter, especially if the Rep ex stays at capacity 7 and can fit a captain + Vixtrix.

These are the last two purchases to finish my list. I did see that we're rumored to lose oath of moment in exchange for Gladius Task Force being our army rule, which i figure Neuters blade of Ultramar (unless it changes to something like "If calgar model is on the battlefield select two doctrines instead of one") or something like that.

Tl;Dr Chapter master probably always good, Big tank probably always good?

Do i need melee fighters if I have fully trained war animals?

Hey guys, wondering your thoughts here. I have 8 colonists total, 4 of which are capable fighters (10+ shooting), one is nonviolent but has 20 animals. They've trained 4 attack elephants and 1 attack thrumbo. I'm using a mod that let's me outfit the animals in armor. Though its expensive (i think flak armor for a large animal is like 300 steel, 400 cloth, and 3 components), it makes them super tough.

I usually just whistle the elephants to attack and they've had no trouble tying everything up yet. The nonviolent Yttakins daughter does not have nonviolent, and actually has a passion for shooting so I should get her a skill trainer. Once she gets a little bit older I'll start sending her on raids with half of my elephants when I go. As of now I dont send any elephants on raids since i'd much rather them defend my home in the event of a raid whilst im out raiding.

What would yall do in my situation?

How do yall dump wealth? Do you dump wealth?

Hey guys. Raids are beginning to ramp up with my colonies progression. They're just barely beginning to be a problem that bumps and bruises my colonists, but if it keeps going at this rate it'll get rough quickly. I have roughly 10k silver at any given moment so I figure thats probably part of it. If I begin buying skill trainers with it and using them, that should make my wealth go down right?

Last raid was 25 naked Neanderthals with swords and axes sprinting straight at me. If i hadnt just gotten done installing turrets I wouldve been overrun very easily. Luckily they were soft targets and went down pretty quickly, but they did reach my fortifications and begin fighting me hand to hand.

If you don't have a combat medic, please get one

I want to kinda shout out my newest recruit Scrooge. He raided my base recently, and apon checking his stats i noticed a beautiful 12 shooting double passion and 13 medical double passion. I blasted him with the Psychic shock lance so that he'd stay safe, and recruited him.

Today during his first raid, I had my first ever drop pod raid. Scrooge was well placed when the raiders first landed, and shot one of them through the liver killing him instantly. One of the raiders was downed nearby so I checked their stats. A 14 mining mole person? Yes please, sounds like a great slave. Scrooge ran over and field tended this person with no medicine (who had extreme blood loss due to a torn off leg courtesy of my Autocannon batteries) which saved their life. He left them crawling on the floor for my real doctor to retrieve and advanced around another corner. He shot another raider through the throat, downing him almost immediately. Another one of my colonists was being ran at by a plate armored Neanderthal with a breach axe. Scrooge took aim and fired, hitting the neanderthal twice in the left leg. It slowed him down enough that the colonist being ran at had time to take another shot, which downed the neanderthal. He had shit stats so I didn't bother tending to him. By this point the raiders were leaving.

To recap, this guy killed one of 12 drop pod raiders, saved ones life for untold value of slave labor (mining wasn't really being done), killed another, and then bought another colonist enough time to survive. I need to build a statue of this guy, MVP performance for sure.

Unfortunately my new slave is depressed because he husband was the first guy scrooge killed with the liver shot

The only price of this dude is food and a spare flak vest + duster I had lyin around. Seems very worth it to me. I know this is kind've a fluff post but I really wanted to tell this story. Guy was moving like Desmond Doss if he wasnt a pacifist.

First baby is a sick fucked up hybrid, how do i raise it?

Colony baseliner cook caught Zebo got eyes for the Yttakin animal handler and married her. They had a fucked up furry human baby. Whats the most important stuff to do? First game with biotech so this is the first baby i've had to deal with.

How can i make sure he ends up with good stats? Really need a tailor for all this cloth i'm growing, would like for the kid to become a good crafter. Once he learns to walk I just assign him to stuff like that?

Where to find sheathed chainsword?

Hey guys! Looking for a sheathed chainsword to tack on my Apothecary Biologis. I'll be painting mine as Brutus from "The Tithes" and he uses one. I like the ultramarines blue look for the biologis with white shoulder pads and helmet, think it looks more cohesive with my army. I'm looking for something intended to go on the hip but i'm not sure where to find one.

Any help appreciated!

Edit: i found one on ebay listed under "Horus heresy melee weapons upgrade kit" in a bits auction. Leaving this here incase anyone ever googles this

What economy can I build other than drugs?

Hey guys! Looking for a way to make my newest rimworld run a little more unique. I'm looking to try and have an economy that isnt based on drugs since thats what i've gone for every time.

I'm thinking maybe slavery based? Use them to manufacture goods and sell them as well as the slaves themselves. I'm not sure how I'd get a steady supply of prisoners though other than gearing up 10 guys heavily and raiding tribes, hoping i can doctor up the ones that fall down, and then haul them all the way back to my base.

My other idea was weapons manufacturing but thats super steel heavy which as far as I can tell is a finite resource.

I have Ideology and Biotech dlc btw.

Randy finally got me, my first rimworld run ended today.

Had a zzzzt event which caused a wire in my hydroponics room to explode. The fire quickly spread around the plants and couldn't be stopped. The air inside of the stone walls quickly reached over 1000 degrees Celsius and cremated my colonists. Seriously I expected to see skeletons left behind atleast, just a pile of assault rifles and breach axes.

Not too upset, i've decided to buy ideology and biotechnology so I was gonna start a new run soon anyway. Glad I got to see this one end instead of just never being loaded up again.

How to harvest a prisoners heart without getting the "Prisoner was organ murdered" mood debuff for my colonists?

Hey guys, one of my starting colonists has a heart blockage. I've been lucky that he's only had one heart attack so far, but once the blockage progressed past minor I pulled it out and replaced it with a prosthetic.

I now have a prisoner with unwavering loyalty whom i'm particularly pissed at (took 3 limbs off of my body purist melee guy) so i'm looking to put his loyalty heart into my pawn. However if I take his heart out he'll die, and all of my colonists will be sad.

Any way around that?

Edit: No DLC yet, really want ideology
