Destriers done!
Finished this guy tonight, and I move out of my dorm sunday morning so my rooms a mess. Probably my favorite 40k project I've worked on yet! I havent painted the guns yet unfortunately but it'll happen i swear!

Hey guys! I'm looking at custodes for my 11th army (along with imperial knights that I've already started. If you can't tell i really like elite armies. My first was tyranids but i didn't love painting the hordes. I still like to play them, i just wont be painting another 100 model army. I moved to ultramarines after Tyranids and found the numbers alot more manageable). Especially if the custodes continue to get refreshes on all the cool stuff.
I really like the look of Venatari and they seem reasonably strong? Fast, tough, high damage output, fall back shoot and charge, and free rapid ingress on top of being a deepstrike unit.
Unfortunately though I don't feel like I see alot of people playing them? Is it just because they're 165 points?
Hey guys! I see alot of people say the Valiant isn't very good right now but I LOVE flamethrowers. I wish he had a niche in our army so that I could use him. I still think I want to (im thinking with mysterious gaurdian in freeblade company so I can deepstrike and be within harpoon range immediately, and then pick him back up before he gets stuck in melee)
Obviously you'd run it if it was 3d6 shots at s12, but at what point does it become good? Does it need more Ap? More damage?
I think it being a S10 flamer (wound TEQ on 2'S) with Ap-2 to get termies to their Invuln 3 damage per successful wound so that they die would be pretty great ESPECIALLY for a 400 point unit
Hey guys!
I'm getting my eye of terror battalion soon. I got a magnet baron kit for the Valiant but i'm not looking to spend what they want for armiger kits.
Are 3x1 magnets good enough? Magnet baron says it'll hold roughly 4 ounces which i believe should be plenty?
Hey guys! Have a squad of 6 on the way that I'll be running with Ancient and Champion. I keep hearing about how meaty they are and how much fire they can absorb, but their datasheet just doesn't look like it to me? Is the -1 to wound really that huge of a deal? I suppose it makes the opponent shoot plasma weapons into them just to wound on 4's but that doesn't seem all that great to me. My main opponent plays tau so maybe its just the fact that he has so much high strength shooting?
Hey guys! I'm moving from playing 1k games to building a 2k list. In terms of leaders:
Calgar leads 6 Victrix
Tigurius leads 6 BGV riding in Rep ex
Captain leads 10 infernus in drop pod
I'm hoping most of my games play like this: i advance my Redemptor, Repulsor, and Victrix brick up the mid board. I drop my pod full of overwatch on a side objective probably turn 1 and hold it with 11 marine bodies. I use inceptors as a deepstrike threat and hopefully get most of my secondaries done with Combi Lt. and Scouts.

Hey guys! I'm looking at buying 6 victrix honor gaurd. Im hoping that with the extra helmets/bits I'll be able to kitbash 6 more (a squad for calgar and a squad for Cato)
What would be the best bodies? Sterngaurd? Bladegaurd?
Hey guys! I want to make a knight lancer with a trident instead of a spear head. I want him to have been retired from battle and sent to an archipelago world, where he spears large fish out of the ocean and feeds his people. He's decked out in white wave patterns over his blue armor panels with twin woven nets nailed to some parts of him. He'll have a scale anchor hanging off of his waist via a chain belt.
When his world was invaded and his people destroyed, he joined my freeblade company as callsign "The Fisherman"
Does anyone have any idea about how I could do this? Or better yet know of someone who sells a 3d printed part?
Thanks!
Hey guys! Recieved a big birthday gift of a 150 dollar amazon gift card. The questoris kit is 160 and the lancer kit is 165.
I really like the lancer, but I feel that it limits listbuilding at first. Granted, I've never heard anybody say that they regret taking a lancer in a list.
I think the questoris knight would be great for diversity, which is probably what I need at this point (I've got a destrier and the eye of terror battalion).
Which one would yall go for?
Hey guys! I'm trying to find some ideas for metal on the skeleton of my knight. This is 2:1 Army Painter triumphant navy and black, then drybrushed with leadbelcher and washed with 4:1 water to Vallejo chocolate brown.
I'm pretty happy with this, but I don't think it'll be the same on all of my knights (and even certain parts of this dudes skeleton).
What do yall use?
This is as far as I'll go before the prime. After that im gonna spread a fine grit mud paste over it and then flock it with some nice dark green grass
Hey guys! Heres the left shoulder pad of my destrier. Im going for a pretty "battle-worn" look on the guy. Most of the chipping is centered on his shoulder pads and carapace, with a little on the legs but more mud and dirt build up on the lower areas.
Is this too chaotic to look at? Or did I achieve something nice?
(Unfinished product)
Hey guys! Building my first ever knight. I had alot of fun with the stripes, but they look a little off? Figured I'd ask you guys. What i did was take 1/4th inch masking tape, and cover the whole thing. Then I removed every other strip and sponged the whole thing red again. Then stippled on my yellow with a drybrush.
Is this up to IW code? Or do I need to refine my methods?
Feeling really good about this scheme for my first ever knight, the destrier! A split field of army painter dragon red and citadel averland sunset, with runefang steel trim and then washed with 2:1 mix of water and nuln oil.
I know this isn't much of a post, but I was too excited! I can't finish the build for a while since i'm waiting on my magnet baron kit, so in the meantime i'm going to paint alot of armor panels since those get painted separately on knights anyway (or so I've heard)
While I've got some of you here i suppose, what do i do for the skeleton? Im thinking some fake metallic metal? A really dark blue, washed with a thinned brown and then drybrushed with a leadbelcher or runefang steel? Would that work?
Hey guys!
I just opened up my destrier box, and man these face plates are awesome! Im gonna go with the storm drain grate for the destrier himself, but I really like the other ones and think they look very knightly.
Do they fit on normal questoris knights? Or are they too small?
Thanks!
Finally put the finishing touches on this guy after a whole lot of painting burnout. A little bummed out about his shoulder transfers, they definitely couldve come out better but it'll be hard to tell from across the table.
Just picked my 5 favorites! I roll into the lgs with ~12 decks usually but always gravitate to these guys.
Hey guys! I'm at a funky spot in a remaining list. I could grab another armiger (but lose 60-65 points since im running enhancements on both big knights) OR run two really nice secondary play pieces.
Is 1 additional armiger (i already have 4 helverins and 3 warglaives, playing spearhead detatchment) worth more to an army than 2 lone ops?
I guess ideally you'd want 3 big knights and 9 little knights, but thats not possible. I think 2 bigs and 10 smalls is good but then you dont have enough bondsman to get around.
Also, which big knights are good to use? I think a castigator with the Mentors pride is good so that you can have 3 helverins rerolling 1's to hit, having sustained hits 1, and an extra Ap. Thats huge. I think the paladin is good to, so you can use either fables of nightmare or tales of heroism depending on what army you're playing against and give lethal hits out or give warglaives lance (huge for anti-tank) + whatever enhancement bonus you pick.
But I definitely think using more than 2 big knights means you lose out on the detatchment rule in a bigger way, since you have too much bondsman to give out. What do yall think of this list? I definitely think it does well on board control and will kill armies that aren't just tank/monster spam really well.
