Vietnam was my 7th country. And it will forever be my ALL time favorite. The people are so good hearted, kind and not once did I ever feel alienated. Love you Vietnam, can't wait to visit again.
I'm a 29-year old, half Sri-Lankan and half Indian. It's no shock that the South Asian hate is at an all time high. Which to an extend I understand where it's coming from aswell. With a total of 2.5 billion between Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri-Lanka. Bad apples are bound to show up in a larger number. Cheap labour has allowed lot of undeserving orthodox folks from South Asia to travel around the world. I have lived in Canada for 7-years and 1-year in UK. I've travelled to Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia. But no place has treated me the way Vietnam has. The people are sooo friendly and beyond that soo kind and warm. I was smiled upon by every single person I saw, with the small head gesture that shows a sign of respect. And it's that smile that comes from the heart and not just a gesture. Not once did I ever feel alienated. I felt belonged, and if I didn't some stranger would pop out of nowhere and say something sweet to me, whether it's my dress, my hair, something they would compliment. God I love the Vietnamese people. One of the best trips of my life, I honestly cant wait to return back soon. As a history nerd, Vietnam has always been on my mind, a sign of perseverance against Imperial forces, whether it was the french or the USA. They stood their ground and fought their heart-out. My visit originally was for the History. But I have come to love the Vietnamese people soo much. Never change Vietnam and thank you for not getting into the trend of hating on South Asians.
