I finally made a batch of potstickers that taste better than my favorite Chinatown Dumpling Spot!

Over the years I have tried several pork and chive potstickers recipes but there was always something missing. The ones from the frozen section were very bland. Then I went back to NYC to my favorite dumpling store and the dumplings tasted off. They didn’t taste as good and were super expensive. My sister said that maybe it’s my medication effecting my tastebuds again. But I bought a bottle of their sauce from the store and it was super vinegary.

My sister found out the other day after the dumpling store won an award that the original restaurant shut down and moved deeper into Chinatown and another person bought the restaurant and changed the formula but kept the decor, signs, and menu.

I remembered that in the past I saw a giant tub of MSG behind the counter so I combined some recipes and added Knorr chicken bouillon. I realized those two ingredients I didn’t use in the past. I followed a tip where they said after mixing the filling to take a tiny piece and microwave it for a few seconds until it’s finished cooking and taste it, that will be how your dumpling will taste.

After microwaving the morsel I put it in my mouth and the first thing that popped out was “What the fuck?!” It tasted better than the restaurant’s during their heyday. I was stoked! The issue was I had wonton wrappers instead of circular dumpling wrappers. I failed horribly making some in the past so I tried my best to make them in a traditional way, but that failed so I went for triangles.

They tasted amazing pan fried AND in my food steamer ($24 on Amazon, has worked for several years.) Overall I’m very satisfied and will definitely make this a deep freezer staple. I will also work on the dumpling wrappers for the next batch.

If you want to try the recipe here it is:

This part killed me because it is totally true

All the girls on Minx’s side thought they were gonna be fan favorites and they were vilified. I’d be so embarrassed to even show up to the reunion, but ya gotta get that check somehow 🤷🏿‍♀️.

Caribbean Foods Delights Beefy Cheese Patties

I normally consume Golden Krust Jamaican Beef Patties that I purchased from Dollar Tree or Walmart in the individual packages for $1.07. Unfortunately the CEO committed suicide and over the last couple of years they have become hard to find. When found they are only in a two pack and they cost $5. To make matters worse it’s incredibly hard to find the mild beef patty.

Before I was going to make my own I decided to purchase these from BJ’s Wholesale. I chose these ones because the other one was a spicy patty and another one was chicken.

Overall I was glad that these are microwaveable and can be ready to eat in 2 minutes. They smelled great coming out the microwave. The patty was kind of flat and not that flaky so I cut a piece of it. There wasn’t an obscene amount of cheese so I was relieved. The taste threw me off because it was a bit spicy, so spicy I couldn’t consume soda with it.

Overall it was really good and a great alternative for now, but I had to give it a 9/10 because I don’t like spicy beef patties. If they put that on the package I would have given a higher score (I bought these through the app, they don’t list ingredients). I will most likely continue to purchase these in the future.

Had a Severe Hankering for a sandwich. Made a 5 Meat Sandwich!

We got Buffalo Chicken, Black Forest Ham, oven baked turkey, salami and pepperoni with American cheese and romaine lettuce. Bread is Italian Herb and Garlic, used Honey Mustard instead of mayonnaise (hate it with a passion). Served with chips.

Tried my hand at Banoffee Cake Loaf (Banana Bread)

I saw on another subreddit user u/I_Like_Metal_Music posted a recipe for a delicious banana loaf. Since I have an obscene amount of bananas in my freezer I thought I would give it a shot.

It doesn’t look as great as the original poster’s because I doubled the recipe and went crazy with the frosting. This is probably the best banana loaf I ever made. I’m gonna have to tweak the recipe in the future since there’s a lot of sugar, but overall definitely adding this to my recipe list.
