Never built a PC; Need something Powerful that will last. Max $2500-$2700 CAD? 🇨🇦

Hi all,

Ive grown up playing PS and PC, but mostly PC. I love modding games. I started out with a really bad laptop, and got gifted my current PC a few years ago which unfortunately is a pretty weak prebuilt (My parents woudnt know better though, I cant blame them)

Now that I have a job, im looking for a Computer that will last me a while since im turning 20 and dont have a lot of money to upgrade often in the future.

I play a lot of Modded games. Modded Minecraft with a LOT of mob mods, Modded Planet Zoo, Modded Skyrim, Anything I can Mod I will, so I usually like to have a lot of RAM.

I dont play many AAA games, but I play some graphically demanding games like Prehistoric Kingdom (Recommended: Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD FX-8350Memory (RAM): 16 GBGraphics Card (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (6 GB)) or Monster Hunter Games and games that require a lot of Power to calculate things like Animal AI (Planet Zoo, PK, Jurassic World Evo)

Im looking for something that can future proof me for a while. Willing to spend a good amount. My current PC will have to be completely trashed since its pretty old.

For reference, ive had this build for at least a few years:

Processor: Intel Core i7-6700 @3.40GHz 3.41GHz

16GB Ram

NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 (2GB), Intel HD Graphics 530 (128mb)

477 GB SSD

Windows 10 Pro

Its a Dell Optiplex 5050 🥲🥲🥲

I lag on almost every game significantly right now. Ive always dreamed of having a competent PC. Help me build one for anything under $3000 CAD, although I am for closer to $2000 CAD I just need a relatively future proof computer that will last me a long long time while I get my life together 🤷

Is this just a local thing?

I thought Spicy Peanut Satay Pho was a North American thing, but it seems like its almost isolated to my Province of Alberta in Canada entirely. A rich creamy broth “pho” unlike many out there. We also have a LOT and i mean a LOT of authentic Vietnamese places, but this is something I discovered when I moved to Calgary 10 or so years ago.

Help me find games my Dad would like!

For fathers day I am buying a (overpriced) used Steam Deck OLED with 1 Tb storage for my dad. I have been looking around and made a small collection of game I think hed enjoy, plus some on deep discount, but I am not an expert in these genres since I mostly play Animal games and Management games. Im hoping somebody with similar tastes can help me out here

He has said he DISLIKES super open worlds, I gifted him Skyrim and he said hes not a fan of the expansive world, and prefers semi-open worlds with more linear story progression

I bought him Sniper Elite and Ghosts of Tsushima but dont know if hes actually played through them, I am getting him a Deck so he has some time to game in bed or maybe at work.

I have displayed his new and old CD rom games! He used to he a PC gamer before switching the Console because “I hate upgrading my Computer every few years”.

It would be nice to also have some PC exclusive games for him to be able to try!
