I actually pre-ordered this one as soon as it was announced because I couldn't find a used Janeiro anywhere. Even though that particular model had a date complication they did it nicely with the background color of the date wheel. However, I got this one as soon as it was released and it is still one of my favorites. I have it on a Hirsch Paul strap, which has rubber on the inside to protect the leather.

I usually have reusable bags when I go to the grocery store but I occasionally forget to bring one in. When I do, I get one of the paper bags and as soon as I empty it out I put them on the floor because I know she's going to inhabit all of them. She fell asleep in one of them.

Today's favorite is a NOS Gallet Multichron 45. Somebody bought it brand new and never wore it and when he passed away, his neighbor bought it from his estate. It still has the original strap and all of that. I got it for $600 US dollars because the person who bought it from the estate had it serviced but after having it serviced he got the chronograph stuck by trying to reset it before he stopped it. My watchmaker was able to unstick it for $50. It has an aftermarket strap because I want to keep the original one like new.

This one is a little different. There's a guy in Palm Springs who purchases wrist watch movements that have had their cases sold for scrap. He then completely disassembles and restores them and puts them in modern wristwatch cases. This is a 40 mm case with sapphire crystal and a sapphire exhibition case back. It has the original glass fired enamel dial and heat blued hands. I have bought three different watches from the same seller. I believe it's from 1911. My other Elgin is from 1892.

I think Laco makes the most authentic reimagining of the Beobachtungsuhr. Correct case finish, straight lugs, the luminescence on the minute markers are only the tens, no complications, no logo, no extraneous markings.
