💙 Dozer A544391 (ADOPTABLE): male, 5 years old and 48 lbs. (Needs ADOPTER or FOSTER & RESCUE).

Shelter link: https://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?types=D&animalid=A544391

Dozer had been previously adopted from the shelter and returned as a stray. He looks very skinny! He needs a wonderful home where he can get lots of care and love. He is very friendly, easily leashed and easily paired with other dogs. He is currently sharing kennel 05 with Frankie (an intact male dog).

🩷 Marshmallow A554772 (ADOPTABLE): female, 6 years old and 83 lbs. (Needs ADOPTER or FOSTER & RESCUE).

Marshmallow is a sweet senior dog! She loves children and is very gentle with them! She has been easily paired multiple times. The shelter says she seems to prefer male dogs over female dogs, but Marshmallow is currently sharing kennel 36 with Teetee (intact female dog).

Shelter link: https://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?types=D&animalid=A554772

💙 Conrad A593755 (ADOPTABLE): male, 7 years old and 64 lbs. (Needs ADOPTER or FOSTER & RESCUE).

Conrad is a friendly boy who has been easily paired with other dogs (he is currently sharing kennel 01 with Apollo - neutered male dog). He is getting stressed out in the kennel and is much happier once he is out in the play yard.

Shelter link: https://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?types=D&animalid=A593755

🩷 Rosalee A596914 (ADOPTABLE): female, 3 years old and 44 lbs. (Needs ADOPTER or FOSTER & RESCUE).

Rosalee is a very sweet girl who keeps getting overlooked because she is housed in the isolation building due to her brachycephalic breed (short-nosed) as the regular kennels are too hot for her. She has previously shared her kennel with another dog but has shown that she prefers to have her people all to herself.

Shelter link: https://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?types=D&animalid=A596914

💙 Elfie A599219 (ADOPTABLE): male, 3 years old and 46 lbs. (Needs ADOPTER or FOSTER & RESCUE).

Elfie was brought into the shelter as a stray. Elfie’s finder stated that it took some time for Elfie to warm up to the family but he did very well with their young child. At the shelter, Elfie has been timid. He needs a patient family to show him the way and boost his confidence.

Shelter link: https://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?types=D&animalid=A599219

🩷 Trixie A599260 (ADOPTABLE): female, 4 years old and 89 lbs. (Needs ADOPTER or FOSTER & RESCUE).

This beautiful and sweet girl was found abandoned in a park by a citizen and she has some medical issues. She is a little fearful and needs a patient family who can provide the care and love she needs and deserves.

Shelter link: https://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?types=D&animalid=A599260

🩷 Almond Joy A599427 (ADOPTABLE): female, 2 years old and 39 lbs. (Needs ADOPTER or FOSTER & RESCUE).

This sweet girl arrived at the shelter after being found as a stray by Kirkman Rd and Raleigh St. She is friendly and easily paired. She is currently sharing kennel  16 with Eria (intact female dog). Beautiful Almond Joy is blind and she needs a wonderful and loving home!

Shelter link: https://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?types=D&animalid=A599427

🩷 Luna A525710 (RESCUE ONLY): female, 5 years old and 93 lbs. (Needs FOSTER & RESCUE).

Beautiful Luna was surrendered by her caretaker after her owner went out of state and had trouble returning. She is very timid and insecure at first but walks very nicely on leash without pulling. She is an affection seeker, once she warms up to you and seemed neutral when another spayed female dog was introduced.

‼️ URGENT: Sweet Bruno is in boarding and sinking into depression. Donations, fosters, or an adopter needed ASAP to save his life! (ORLANDO, FL) 💙🙏

Bruno is only alive today because of quick-thinking rescuers and Raiden’s Haven, who intercepted him right before he was scheduled to be euthanized. He was given a lifeline, but now he is stuck in boarding, and we cannot cover the costs indefinitely. He desperately needs a hero.

🐾 Meet Bruno!

Age: 5 years old (turns 6 in January)

Personality: Handsome, very well-behaved, loving, and fiercely loyal once he knows you.

Dog-friendly: Yes! He loves dog parks, walks, and playing with other dogs.

Cat-friendly: Not a fan of cats.

Kid-friendly: Good with older, respectful kids. No young children.

💔 Bruno's StoryBruno was a beloved family dog, but active young kids in the home repeatedly pulled at his tail and ears. Bruno gave a small head shake—which was labeled a "nip"—to ask them to stop. No harm was done, but it became a death sentence. An appointment was made to euthanize him.

Rescuers stepped in to save him, but two back-to-back foster placements fell through (one due to landlord restrictions). With nowhere else to go, Bruno had to go into commercial boarding.

📉 The Current SituationBruno is not adjusting well to the isolation of a kennel. He is becoming depressed, and we fear the longer he stays there, the more his wonderful personality will fade. He does beautifully during playtime but shuts down in his run. He cannot end up back at the shelter.

⭐️ HOW YOU CAN HELP BRUNO TODAY:

  1. 💰 Donate Toward Boarding Costs

Any amount helps keep him safe while we look for a home.

Zelle: 941-539-4509

Low-cost vet & stable pet insurance recs for a new pup? (Also need puppy distraction/reflection-phobia tips!)

Hey everyone,

I recently foster-failed a puppy and I've been pretty busy between working full-time, volunteering over at Orange County Animal Services, and managing a foster shortage (the rescue I pulled her from is now short on foster homes and needs transporters for clinic visits and pick up/drop off to fosters if anyone is looking to help out with puppies or kittens), I am running on fumes lol I always told myself I'd never get another puppy, only seniors 🤦🏽‍♀️😅

We are about 60% of the way there with potty training, but she gets distracted incredibly easily. On walks, she tries to put literally everything in her mouth, and she is currently terrified of her own reflection in parked cars lol. If anyone has tips for handling easily distracted puppies or getting over the reflection phobia, please drop them below. Thankfully my senior Rottie has been a great mentor for her thus far.

Mainly, I need to get her vet care and insurance locked down. I currently use Figo for my senior dog, but over the last 9 years, the monthly premium has literally doubled. I know prices go up as dogs age, but doubling is brutal. Google mentioned Lemonade, if anyone has experience with that company.

For those in the Orlando/Kissimmee area:

  1. What pet insurance do you use for young dogs that stays relatively stable and won't jack up prices exponentially over time?

  2. Any recommendations for great, low-cost vets for routine puppy care and vaccines? (My current vet charges $70 for an office visit 😅)

Really appreciate any local vet leads, insurance experiences, or puppy-raising sanity tips you can share!

(Ignore the b0ng in the video lol but these 2 playing melt my heart)

🚨 DEADLINE TUESDAY 6/30 @ 5PM: Nalah, Trout, and Fizz need HEROES. Euthanasia list / Orange County Animal Services (Orlando, FL) 🚨

**UPDATE: DEADLINE IS FIRM. NO EXTENSIONS.**

These three beautiful dogs at Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) are out of time. They are experiencing severe shelter decline and stress. **Nalah has an official deadline of Tuesday, June 30th at 5:00 PM.** Trout and Fizz are on the Last Chance List and need immediate placement before next Wednesday morning.

Rescue partners: OCAS is offering a **$100 incentive per dog** to help offset the cost of care!

* * *

💔 **NALAH (A587478) — THE LEFT-BEHIND MOM/SISTER**

* **Stats:** 6 years old | 90 lbs | Heartworm positive (+) but **HAS SPONSORSHIP!**

* **Story:** Surrendered back in January because her owners couldn't keep her. She came in with two male dogs (either her sons or brothers). Both boys were adopted. **Nalah was left behind.**

* **The Situation:** She has been in the shelter for 5 months. She is losing weight from extreme stress. Shelter notes state she is showing behavioral decline with increased reactivity toward men.

* **The Good:** Outside of her stress, she is highly affectionate, social, and allows full handling. She needs a patient, loving home to decompress and learn to trust again.

🐾 **TROUT (A595509) — THE SCARED STRAY**

* **Stats:** 2 years old | 42 lbs | Heartworm negative (-)

* **Story:** Came in as a stray on May 6th.

* **The Situation:** The shelter is a terrifying place for Trout, and he is declining. Notes show an increase in resource guarding (particularly food) due to the stressful environment. He cannot safely stay in the shelter long-term.

* **The Good:** He is easily leashed! He actually loves the company of other dogs and has been paired successfully with several dogs at the shelter. He needs a patient family and a canine sibling to show him the way.

⚡ **FIZZ (A596537) — THE HIGH-ENERGY BOY**

* **Stats:** 1.7 years old | 59 lbs | Heartworm negative (-)

* **Story:** Came in as a stray on May 18th.

* **The Situation:** Highly anxious in his kennel. He has been involved in altercations with other dogs at the shelter, likely due to resource guarding brought on by stress.

* **The Good:** Handsome, athletic, and full of life! He would thrive with an active family. He *can* live with canine siblings, but he requires slow, appropriate, and structured introductions. He just needs someone with kindness and patience to guide him.

* * *

⚠️ **HOW YOU CAN SAVE THEM:**

* **ADOPT OR FOSTER:** All three dogs are available for direct public adoption or fostering. If you are in Florida (or can travel to Orlando), please visit the shelter immediately or comment below.

Wayne (#A594261) needs a hero by 5PM Thursday (June 25). He is a water-loving playgroup rockstar looking for a rescue or foster in Orlando, FL

Wayne (ID #A594261) is currently at Orange County Animal Services in Orlando, FL, and he needs a rescue placement or adopter by this Thursday, June 25th at 5:00 PM.

**About Wayne**

Wayne is a neutered male, just 1 year and 2 months old, weighing around 46 pounds. He is heartworm negative and ready to leave, but he is currently on a medical deadline.

He can be a little fearful when he first meets you, but he warms up quickly and turns into a highly social, happy guy. In fact, the staff behaviorists at the shelter call him a "playgroup rockstar."

Wayne has a couple of specific needs to keep in mind:

* **No cats:** He needs a cat-free home.

* **Routine:** His previous owner had him for 11 days and kept him inside day and night. Because of this, he isn't housebroken yet and has a bad habit of chewing. He just needs a patient person to show him the ropes and give him proper decompression time.

* **He loves the water:** Wayne absolutely loves to swim. If you are a volunteer taking him out, please check his Project Pets binder in the volunteer room to ensure a great outing, and make sure to fill up the pool for him.

**Why he needs urgent help**

Wayne has an ear mass on the tip of his left ear. It continues to ooze when his ear saver and e-collar are removed due to him shaking his head.

The shelter clinic is monitoring him, but they note that he requires a higher level of care that is best handled outside of a stressful shelter environment. If a rescue placement isn't found by Thursday at 5:00 PM, the shelter may consider euthanasia if his prognosis flags.

**How you can help save Wayne**

* **Shelter Link:** Orange County Animal Services - Wayne

* **Official Rescue Partners:** View OCAS Rescue Partners

* **If you are an approved rescue:** Please email the shelter immediately at Rescue.Coordinator@ocfl.net.

* **If you want to foster through a rescue:** Email Rescue.Coordinator@ocfl.net and send a PM to this account so we can coordinate.

Please upvote, comment to boost visibility, or share Wayne's story with anyone you know in the Central Florida area who might be able to foster or pull him before Thursday afternoon.

These pups are declining in the stressful shelter environment and need immediate foster or rescue placement. No rescue interest has been shown yet. The deadline is firm, and time is running out.

🐕 DOG 1: BOONE (ID: A590094) — EMERGENCY PLACEMENT

🐕 DOG 2: ROCCO (ID: A592868) — MEDICAL & BEHAVIORAL URGENCY

–The Situation: 5Y, 55 lbs, Brown & White. Owner was arrested; Rocco has nowhere to go. Kennel stress is turning into escalating frustration and dog reactivity.

–The Needs: Needs an immediate foster or rescue pull to stop his behavioral decline. Needs a medical evaluation for a persistent skin condition and a potential mast cell tumor that isn't responding to medication.

–The Good: Incredibly gentle and calm outside his kennel. He walked beautifully on a leash and laid his head right in the handler's lap for cuddles.

UPDATE: I spoke at the Polk County BOCC meeting on the 19th about the conditions at Animal Control

Hey everyone, a few weeks ago I posted that FOX 13 article about the Polk County Commissioners passing that new rule limiting public comment to just 15 people (capped at 45 minutes total). I promised I would show up, use my voice, and let you all know how it actually went down.

I got there a few minutes early to fill out the public comment ticket. Since the public comment portion was moved to the end of the meeting, I sat patiently through the agenda for the day. Then, they finally moved to the comment portion.

They read your name, you step up, state your name and address for the record, and then the 3-minute clock begins. Everyone is staring at you, you are completely aware it's being recorded, and you can honestly cut the tension with a knife.

I took a deep breath and began with what I thought would get them to perk up first: speaking about the humans that work at Animal Control in all types of weather, and then I led into the animals.

Here is what I touched on during my time:

The lack of local ordinances against breeders and private animal sales in Polk County.

–Explaining how we could designate a portion of the recurring budget to facility upgrades, instead of just allocating the surplus to a general fund.

–Reinstating a spay and neuter program, alongside a foster and volunteer program to help get these animals seen.

–Creating a dog training program using inmate labor.Yes, I was nervous.

Yes, I was reading from my phone. Yes, public speaking is intimidating. But I was surrounded by fellow advocates and knew these animals have had no voices for so long. We are going up against the likes of Bill Braswell, who has previously made disrespectful comments towards citizens of Polk and animal welfare advocates.

Make your voices heard. Make yourselves loud. Speak up for what you believe in, even though it might feel scary and you may stumble and feel silly. Do it scared.

Fostering for the very first time! Meet Rosie and Roxie 🐶✨

I finally took the plunge and started my first fostering journey! It is already so rewarding, and I wanted to share these two sweet faces with you all.

Many of you have been inquiring about small dogs and puppies lately, so I wanted to introduce you to the organization that made this possible. Neighbors, meet Smallest Souls Animal Rescue! They are an amazing foster-based rescue here in Orlando, and they would absolutely love your help with fostering or adopting some of the most precious souls.

If you are thinking about jumping in, they make it incredibly easy.

–If you adopt: The pups or kittens come fully vaccinated, fixed, and microchipped!

–If you foster: Food, supplies, and all medical/vet bills are completely covered!

Right now, I am currently fostering two Chihuahua mix pups (around 5 months old). Introducing Rosie 🌹 and Roxie 💎!

I'll let you guess who the spunky one is 😂

For anyone who has fostered before, what is your #1 piece of advice for a first-timer trying not to become a "foster fail" because these gals are already tugging at my heart ♥️

😭🏥⚠️Gaten in Orlando, FL due to happy tail amputation🐾🐶🏥

🆘 URGENT! GATEN NEEDS RESCUE PLACEMENT ASAP DUE TO MEDICAL🆘

‼️ Gaten needs FOSTER, RESCUE & PLEDGES (or committed ADOPTER if they can give him the medical care he needs).

‼️Pledges will help gain rescue interest as will a foster offer. Fostering is free!‼️

🚨‼️If you can FOSTER Gaten for a rescue, please send me a private message here ASAP

📍 Orange County Animal Services, ORLANDO, FL (2769 Conroy Road, Orlando, FL 32839).

💙 GATEN #A589349 . This dog is a neutered male. This dog is currently located in CLIND16. This dog weighs approximately 53.0 lbs.,is 4Y and has tested negative for heartworm disease. This dog is being posted to rescue due to medical.

Meet Gaten!

Gaten is a very sweet boy who suffered from "happy tail syndrome" and our vets amputated a small portion of his tail.  Sadly, even wearing two cones, Gaten was still able to reach at his tail and his incision is open.  He had a second procedure, as the last attempt, on Wednesday May 6th to making his tail half the length and unfortunately, his incision opened once again.  At this point, he cannot remain at the shelter much longer and needs to find rescue placement ASAP!

Notes from previous foster/staff member:

Gaten has been easily paired in the shelter; dog friendly. Gaten is mostly housebroken. He’s had a total of 3 accidents in the home setting but has mostly done well when walked frequently.

Gaten is a very "velcro" boy and honestly cannot get close enough to his person. He loves naps and will lay on top of you for nap time. He’s a big cuddler.

Gaten is very food motivated but can be a bit rude when it comes to treats. I have been trying to teach him good behavior with affection as the reward, as he tends to find that just as rewarding as food and it lessens the demanding behavior for food.

Gaten loves to play and gets zoomies! He can get a bit rough/rowdy with play but is slowly learning. Gaten has a very unique bark (yodel) that he does when he feels lonely. He usually will quiet down in the crate after 10 minutes (I play anxiety reducing music for him throughout the house). He’s really an insecure boy that just wants to be near his person

at all times but is slowly learning that it’s okay to have alone time.

Please let us know if you can help GATEN

Meet Boulder!

*Boulder needs to find rescue placement by May 19, 2026*

He is friendly with people but got into a scuffle with the one dog he was paired with, so he is in a kennel by himself.  ‼️ Additional information: Boulder was paired for 5 days with this other dog (intact male) before they had a scuffle. Why did the shelter pair 2 intact males?? After this, the shelter did not attempt to pair Boulder again due to his back leg issue and difficulty manuevering with it. He does not react to dogs in neighboring kennels.

Boulder is HW negative but came in limping and his left rear paw folds inward.  That leg requires amputation

Special notes:

-LH limb politeal lymph node enlargement

-LH MCS 1/3, ulcers on top of toes, worn nail, loss of conscious proprioception

-Crusting of skin
