I'm debating which character style to go with, what's your favorite for an Eldritch style creature?

More detailed explanation: We are building a Lovecraftian roguelike deckbuilder where you face off against various Eldritch style creatures. Each creature was once a normal animal that has been contaminated by a Lovecraftian disease.

With that information which is your favorite?

Your thoughts on this deckbuilder idea - Draw letters, read the creature, build the right word and break a Seal.

That is one decision in Utterance—and every monster changes what “right” means.

Utterance – a three-letter weakness word can hit harder than a six-letter word

We are building an occult-Western deckbuilding roguelike where the deck is made of letter cards. In this clip, RIG deals ordinary word damage, but it also uses both marked letters in the creature’s weakness, so one protected Seal breaks.

The decision is whether to spend actions chasing that exact word or fire a larger word before the creature acts. We are testing how clearly the preview separates normal damage from the Seal break.

The UI for our word deckbuilder.. is our enemy too close to the screen or not close enough?

We were curious if the enemy feels to close to the screen or not close enough since there is a lot of open space around it.

Each enemy in Utterance has a unique attack to avoid and weakness to exploit

What do you think these characters attack and weakness should be?

Should hitting a weakness break a full Seal AND still deal normal damage?

We have been going back and forth on how enemy Health should work in our roguelike deckbuilder, Utterance, and I could use some honest feedback before we lock this in.

Enemies do not have one continuous Health bar. Their Health is divided into Seals, and ordinary word damage chips away at them.

Your damage starts with the Power values on your letter cards. Add those values together, then multiply the result by the length of the word.

In this example, H, E, and N:

(2 + 1 + 1) × 3 letters = 12 damage

The Flayed Bison has 80 total Health divided into four 20-point Seals. However, it also has a Three-Letter weakness, which HEN fulfills.

Right now, hitting a weakness gives you two separate rewards:

The current 20-point Seal breaks immediately.

HEN still deals its normal 12 damage to the next Seal.

The goal is to make the exact right word sometimes more valuable than simply playing the longest or highest-scoring word. What we are debating is whether breaking a full Seal and dealing normal damage feels satisfying, or whether it feels like too much of a double dip.

Which version do you think would create the best decisions?

A. Break one Seal and still deal full word damage

B. Break one Seal, but that replaces the normal damage

C. No automatic break; weaknesses provide a large damage multiplier

D. Something else entirely"
