Bring me the Horizon's new song has a very strong vegan message (and imagery!)

They also have a vegan restaurant :) https://templeof.fun/pages/qr

The song already has almost 1 million views in a day, I hope lots of people watching make the connection that they're being treated like cattle (warning, the video is very grim)

Turns out I'm not very good at this...

https://preview.redd.it/apiaabhjeb9h1.png?width=1610&format=png&auto=webp&s=a2596f6c759af9cd02f95cdc9366197ddfe2473e

I'm new to the game and honestly finding it kinda tough, I feel like I need to rush through but then mistakes creep in. A few times I've been penalised for the wrong city, does it have to match one of the cities from the map? I guess I need to highlight the city and then find the right page on the page to log the discrepancy? Going to persist and have another go tomorrow :) Thanks

Do any of your schools have portable AC units? If so do they help much?

Hi, my wife and I are wanting to contribute some money towards our school getting AC, maybe £2-3k or so. I’m wondering if any of your children have experience of having the portable AC and if it’s enough to at least take the edge off? With portable units £3k would probably be enough to cool down each classroom, but would barely put a dent in the cost of fully fitted units

Thanks

Son is happy at school, wife wants to move him another school that has AC

Hi, I posted this a while back and it got deleted because the mods thought I was trolling but unfortunately I can assure you I’m not

My son went to pre-school at A, we looked around a lot of schools and whilst it was tempting to keep him there for continuity, we much preferred school B.

He’s super happy there, the community is amazing, the teachers are amazing, the headacher is amazing and I don’t think my wife would dispute any of these things, but she has autism and is incredibly sensitive to heat and is worried that one of our children will be the same way. School B has air conditioning for the first few years, and she always regretted not sending him there, but since they do split years and there’s a space available in the year above, they can make it work so there’s space for my son

I’m super reluctant because my son is so happy with his current school and other than this one thing, so are we. Just how disruptive is it for a reception/year 1 child to change classes? It’s something I never went through myself, but I remember at secondary school especially even after people had been there for years after they moved, they were still always thought of as ‘the new kid’ and kinda outsiders, but I’m guessing that wouldn’t happen at 5/6? Thank you

Boundaries in Cardiff tonight

Just wondering what other people thought? Not sure if it was just a me thing but I don’t think I’ve ever heard a band I love sound so bad live. I had a hearing device fitted 30 years ago and for the first time ever I was seriously questioning if it had malfunctioned 😭

Also, it’s the third time I’ve seen them but I did not enjoy the crowd at all. Lots of people taking full pints into the pit, full on push mosh, and a couple of guys seemingly just pushing people to the ground for no reason at all. I had to use a lot of will power not to leave early

Best place to watch the football near Y Plas?

Hi, I’m coming to Cardiff for a gig on Wednesday and hoping to watch the end of the match after it finishes. Disclaimer that I’m an England fan but also not super bothered, so I guess a bonus follow up question is would it be acceptable to outwardly present as an England fan? :D Thank you

I'm 41 and don't think I'll ever be able to ride a skateboard. Should I try a longboard instead?

Hi, a few years ago I bought a skateboard, my balance isn't great and day 1 I came off and it kinda destroyed my confidence. Since then I've tried it only a handful of times, I can go very slowly in a straight line (but not confidently) and but even gentle turns feel a bit much and I feel like I'm going to fall off.

I take my young children to the pump track a lot, and today for the first time ever I saw someone use a longboard on one and it looked super fun, I spoke to him and he was really nice/encouraging and suggested I buy one, but I thought I'd ask here just in case before I spend ~£100 on something that isn't that much easier than a skateboard? Apparently they're faster and comfier for cruising and a bit easier, but is it really suitable for someone who's completely written off the idea that I could learn to skate one day? Thanks

NS&I Index-linked Savings Certificates: now need to hold for the full term

Hi, I couldn’t see this mentioned anywhere else so thought I’d post it in case it helps anyone:

“We've made an important change to NS&I Index-linked Savings Certificates.

If you decide to renew a Certificate, you won't be able to cash it in before the maturity date - you'll need to hold the Certificate for the full term.”

We have also introduced a 30-day cooling off period.

Will be holding onto them personally, but this is quite a significant (and bad) change.

Birthday cake for a children's party?

Hi, we're going to take a look at local companies but first I thought I'd ask here in case there are good national options. We need to feed around 20 children, and my son would love a unicorn cake, although to be honest as long as it tastes good I doubt he will mind too much. Thanks 😄

Place that’s a bit like Butlins, without being Butlins

Hi, we went to Butlins a few times when the kids were young and imo it’s pretty much perfect - cheap, great swimming pool with lots to do, and things like good playgrounds, softplay and fairground rides all included in the price.

For various reasons my wife isn’t a fan though and really doesn’t want to go back. Last year (and later this year) we went to Centre parcs and whilst it was good (my wife loved it) it’s also incredibly expensive and there’s not as much to do there without spending an additional fortune

Is there a middle ground place that we’re missing? We also tried Haven last year and it was mostly okay, but the pool was quite whelming and tbh at both Butlins and Centre Parcs we like to spend a very good chunk of time each day at the pool

Thanks :)

Wife getting increasingly frustrated by my inability to finish

I recently started watching a beginners series recommended here which basically recommended the first thing to do is to try to think of defence and not make mistakes, ie look for any weaknesses, but still play safe and try to make sure every single piece is safe where possible.

My wife is the absolute opposite - very reckless but also thinks of a lot more clever attacking moves. As a result my win rate is quite high, but when she wins it’s because she has a cunning plan that I’ve somehow missed and sometimes she wins in just a handful of moves

Anyway. The way I play is genuinely quite painful - chasing her King around the board with my strong pieces before eventually giving up and slowly getting one of my pawns to the other side of the board, and often even with two queens I struggle to end the game. A couple of times she has managed to beat me despite being very far behind (one game I had all of my pieces apart from a few pawns and one knight, and she only had a few pawns and two castles and still managed to beat me)

Sorry for rambling. Can anyone please recommend ways to learn how to actually be a bit more ruthless and get her king pinned down? Thank you

Can Google Home recognise her voice and use her Spotify account, and if so, how?

Hi, my wife and I both have our own Spotify accounts, and I have her Google account linked in the Google Home app, and both personal results and voice match are on. Is there a way so if she asks Google to playing something it uses her account?

At the moment if I’m listening to something in the car and she uses Google Home to play something it stops what I’m listening to, and vice versa. Thanks :)
