if vampires sleep in coffins to protect themselves from the sun, how do they know when its night time and thus, time to wake up?

see, humans know when its day time because the sunlight can be "seen" through our eyelids but a dark coffin that blocks out all light wouldn't be able to grant that ability

technically, this question applies to everyone who has laser-eyes but since the boys is supposed to be grounded in reality, ill use that.

so like...how does homelander see anything while shooting lasers from his eyes? they appear to come directly from the pupil, which is literally how the eye sees. I know that, thanks to his superhuman durability, the laser won't DESTROY his eyes but I still wonder how that works.

does he just...see red? is he only blinded for the laser's duration?
