How is it living here?

I’m looking at having a destination wedding reception around this part of Scotland, what is it like there around the end of May temperature and, more importantly, bug wise? I have heard that the midges will ruin my party’s lives. Does this seems like a nice place to stay somewhere in the more undeveloped areas of this zone? 20 people from America hoping to just have a nice little time.

How is it living in Istria, Croatia?

We had a wonderful family trip through the Greek Isles and up through Croatia. Istria really seemed very pleasant — almost like Tuscany-East in some ways (the hilly countryside around Motovun for example), but also with some nice seaside towns (Rovinj was great).

Is it welcoming to foreign retirees? What are some of the best and worst parts of living in the area?

How is life in Svalbard?

Hi everyone! I’ve always been fascinated by Svalbard and would love to know what it is actually like to live so far north. Does the climate feel truly extreme in everyday life, especially because of the cold, wind, polar night, and months of midnight sun? Do people eventually get used to it, and what are the biggest challenges—and perhaps the best parts—of living there?

Amsterdam - how did you know?

For anyone who moved to Amsterdam as an expat, what made you choose there? had you visited before and got a feel for it or just took a leap.

For context, I’ve never visited the Netherlands. I’m from Ireland, 31 years old, was living in Vancouver for 3 years and built a great life there (lived by the beach at kits and had a community) but it always felt temporary as settling down that far from family felt very difficult.

Been in London the past week, looking to see if I like it here and have explored most neighbourhoods but haven’t had any really feel right. It all seems too congested and busy, and I think I’ll miss the outdoor lifestyle, cycling-ease and beauty of a city.

A big draw to London was cultural fit compared to (North America) the humour / craic and being in Europe close to home.

For anyone who has done something similar, lived in London and Amsterdam (seems pretty common) what did you find different and would you suggest i do a short trip to Amsterdam to get a sense of it? I work remotely in tech so job is fine, goal would be to have my own 1br (which seems to be more realistic compared to London even with the Europe housing crisis)

Have heard it can be hard to meet people there (I would intend to learn dutch) and that the people can be quite stand off-ish (compared to what I find in london to be very chatty and friendly) but assume if there is a big expat community there is always people around to make friends and build a community?

Sorry for the essay - appreciate any insights 😃

How's it like living in Bogota?

Found this picture of a mountain view of Bogota from Instagram and thought it looks cool! I am also vaguely aware that Bogota has seen a lot of development in the last 25 years, and want to know how that feels from a first person POV.

Also, this is really random, but how popular is techno there?

What's it to live in Frankfurt?

I know it's the financial capital of the EU, but in terms of job opportunities, peaceful life and safety is it a good place or there are better places than this. Lmk
