About to start the show first time

I always heard about Steven universe but I've never watched it at all not even clips so I decided to give it a watch this upcoming weekend. Is there anything I show look out for or keep an eye out for or any episodes that stand out? Love to be a part of this fandom and want to learn more about the show.

What episodes do you wish didn't have other plots?

I was watching king of the hill and it was the episode with cotton in the hospital, won't spoil what happens but it was obviously a heavy plot but the episode still had a silly(unnecessary imo) Bobby and lucky subplot. Which got me thinking which sitcom episode did you guys wish had only one plot. It could be just the A plot or the b plot or even c plot. Please sound off in the comments.

What's the consensus on this sub about the Hulu seasons?

I have watched most of the new Hulu seasons but haven't heard anything from fans on their thoughts on them. I personally take it on an episode by episode basis and quality wise some episodes hit for me and others don't as much. What do you guys think and where would you rank this era of the show among the others?

I have a dilemma

I've had a close female friend for the past 9 years and during this time I've learned a lot about men's issues and men's rights and also outside of our friendship I've had bad experiences with the other women in my life. The dilemma I have right now is that my friend has espoused feminist views and identifies as a feminist and even tho she has never said anything anti man towards me I feel like Everytime I bring up a topic regarding gender she doesnt really care what I have to say. I bring this here to this specific sub to ask if I should establish more boundaries regarding what I say about men's rights or don't bring it up at all or just go nuclear and end the friendship? I view them as a good friend but my eyes have been opened these past few years and I am disillusioned about a lot of things now and have started to question and reevaluate things. Any advice would be a great help

My sister yelled at me so much today I started shaking

Today I(35M) had to fill out some paperwork and my sister(39F) kept yelling at me and I was shaking and my nervous system was fried. She kept saying negative things like I show no initiative and that I'm incompetent. I definitely feel like I have C-PTSD bc yesterday I was out by myself and I spilled something and I immediately became tense and anxious waiting to be yelled at. This is an everyday occurrence and it's beyond exhausting. Has anyone else dealt with this?

The newer seasons have more realistic plots

I was thinking a lot recently about the newer seasons especially the episode where the family goes to the casino and I really think these newer seasons have more realistic plots that you would see in a live action show. Even the best episode of the new seasons "The plight before Christmas" the plot was very realistic. I know it's an animated show but I think it's a nice change of pace to have more grounded episodes.what do you guys think? Do you like these more realistic plots/episodes or not?

Reality TV

I think an aspect of the current culture that further pits men against women and pushes a lot of anti men rhetoric is reality television. So many women watch it and they get the worst, most toxic messages about men and then use it against them. Just this morning my female relative went on for almost 30 min talking about this relationship show she's been watching("married at first sight") and she just kept taking the women's side and bashing the men on it and men in general. This isn't talked about enough but it has to be playing a role in how women view men and now young women and girls watch it and it further poisons their minds against men. Has anyone else noticed this and what do you guys think about it?

Which past sitcoms would be the most affected by smartphones?

Someone said that the existence of the smartphone has rendered a lot of old sitcom plots useless bc they would be resolved instantaneously. Which got me thinking which old shows that existed before smartphones would be the most affected by smartphones if the show existed today or if magically smartphones existed back then?

Sister is trying to control what I do with a step counter

This morning my narcissistic older sister suggested that I download a step counter app so she can track my steps "so we can be healthy" but the thing is I told her I already have a step counting app and she got angry bc she just wants to monitor my activity when I'm out of the house and interrogate me when I get home. It's just another control tactic in a long list of control tactics and now she's guilting me into doing it telling me that I'm unsupportive. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice would help

Keeping it to yourself

Has anyone else become very selective with what you say around certain people regarding mens rights and issues regarding men irl? I was thinking today about some issues on my mind and I just thought most people I talk to I can't tell them about my thoughts for a variety of reasons. I know advocacy is important but these days with how mens rights are vilified and women are praised and lionized for everything you don't really know whose on your side. Has anyone else experienced this and what has been your experiences and interactions with people? Also any advice would be a big help.

Arrogant ignorant relative

I have a relative that's probably the most arrogant person I know, all they do is lecture people and tell them what to do. On top of that they are also the most ignorant person I know both in basic lack of knowledge and bigotry. They didn't even know who the president was until last year.they don't like authority so at their job they are constantly butting heads with management. I'm just waiting for the day they meet the wrong person and someone finally lays into them.

My sister treats the pet dog better than me

I moved in with my older sister a year ago and outside of being a huge narcissist she routinely treats her pet dog with way more care and respect than how she treats me. She yells at me if I don't give the dog the food I'm eating even tho it has kibble in its bowl, she yells at me to play with the dog even when I'm doing something and lectures me all the time that the dog is a person just like me and her. I am clearly the lowest one on the totem pole in the house and she makes it plainly obvious everyday. The irony is when I get yelled at to do something for the dog she tells me that she bought the dog for me and it's my responsibility when I didn't even live with her when she bought the dog. Anyone else have a situation like this?(I'm sure this occurs with kids as well) Any advice would be a great help

Cheer up sleepy gene tone

I was watching "Cheer up sleepy Gene"(S08E13) today and it got me thinking that even though it was a solid episode I think it could have been much different and better if it was conceived in the new era of the show. Clearly Alex didn't feel happy with the changes at home and that's what prompts him to run away but I think if this episode was aired in the new more sentimental era of the show I think more care and gravity could have been be put into Alex as a character and his emotional state instead of it just being played for laughs. Of course the show is still a comedy but I think we could have had something akin to the amazing Rudy which would be pretty groundbreaking for a debut episode for a character. Again it was a good episode this isn't a hate post just thought it could've gone in a different direction. Love to know what everyone thinks. If you agree or disagree please feel free to comment.

Would Bill and Teddy get along?

I was just thinking about Bill and his spiritual successor in a way Teddy from Bob's Burgers and how they would interact if they ever met. I think both characters have a lot of pathos but also a lot of heart. I could see bill making barbecue for teddy as a payment for fixing up stuff around Bill's house. Is there any ideas you guys have for a crossover? What do you guys think the characters would do together?

Self Respect

(35M) I have had an abusive relationship with my narcissistic sibling and I'm now starting to realize that my relationship with them has had a big effect on my friendships. My self esteem is so low and my self respect I tend to take behavior that most ppl wouldn't tolerate and I excuse it. For example I had a friend I asked a question and they were very dismissive and I just took it in stride because I'm used to beIng treated that way by my sibling. Now I'm starting to get more of a backbone and I think I need some space from my friends to reevaluate our friendships because if there's no mutual respect there it's gonna be tough to continue these friendships. I am going to communicate this to them and see where we stand. Any one who has dealt with this, how did you handle it? Any advice would be a big help.

Underrated Sitcoms

One thing I love about this sub is that there's a lot of talk about a diverse group of sitcoms not just the popular ones like the office or friends. Which sitcoms do you consider underrated? Two picks for me are Better off Ted and Happy Endings. Sound off in the comments about your favorite underrated Sitcoms, the more obscure the better.

Any social apps other than reddit with a majority male userbase?

I've decided to delete all the social media apps on my phone because it's all content from women and it's all misandry and men bashing. Do you guys know any apps like reddit that have mostly male users. It doesn't even have to be a social media app just a good app that has mainly male users(before you guys say it I'm not talking about grindr lol)

Has interceptions changed in the new madden

I just got Madden 24 and the last game I had was Madden 18 and I wanted to know if the frequency of getting picked off has changed in the new games. It seems like every 50/50 ball gets intercepted even when you turn it down using gameplay sliders. Has it improved in the new games? It's pretty frustrating. Any tips to lessen the frequency would be a big help.

No Agency or Autonomy

A few years ago I woke up to go somewhere and a wave of sadness hit and I had the realization that no decision I was going to make that day was of my own. Nothing has really changed since then I moved in with my narcissistic relative and it's only gotten worse. I have no agency or autonomy. I get interrogated if I'm on the phone with my friend, she goes with me to all my appointments and checks my bank account for charges. I try to push back but nothing works. I get gaslit everyday by ppl thinking she's a caring relative when she constantly yells at me and belittles me at home in one breath then acts like nothing happened the next second. My nervous system is wrecked and I'm constantly tense and in fight or flight and I can't even tell my therapist bc they are on her side(not being dramatic I've tried in the past and they took her side bc she works in health care). Now she wants to go on a trip and I said I didn't want to go and she totally ignored me and still booked the trip. I'm at the end of my rope, I'm seemingly in an endless depressive episode and wake up every morning feeling miserable. If anyone is out there with any advice it would be a great help. I'm trying to move out but I'm currently looking for a job and she won't let me work more than part time.
