Why is there so many large contaminants in packaged soil products (hammer, Snap-On Torch, etc), as seen on recent Reddit gardening posts?
Isn't there some minimum quality control in place? At least run it through a screen, even it the holes are a inch wide.
Is this a paper wasp nest on the front porch ceiling?
How do I tell the difference between paper wasp nests and aggressive wasp nests?
Does walking barefoot in mud cause less mud to stick to your feet compared to wearing boots?
I'm gardening in my backyard and often it is muddy after a rain when I am inspecting or otherwise working on the plants. If I wear boots, it's like an inch of sticky mud gets stuck on the bottom. I'm wondering if doing it barefoot would prevent all the mud from getting stuck on me and I can just hose off my feet before going back inside. I'll continue wearing boots when working with shovels and other digging equipment for safety reasons.
[Central Illinois] Should I do anything about this small wasp nest on my front porch ceiling by my front door?
The wasps haven't been bothering me but will I regret not getting rid of them when the nest is small? If so, how should I do it?
Do you suspect that the man bumping into Emma before the Tell-All was a set-up by TLC? Did the producer actually know the odds of that?
When going out barefoot, how do you avoid tracking in dirt from the outside world into your home when you get back home?
For people who wear shoes, they take their shoes off before coming inside. What strategies do you use to clean your feet as you get home? Do you have towels to wipe your feet by the door or have a policy to immediately rinse your feet in the shower as soon as you get home?
Why do some types of ethnic restaurants in the USA tend to not have fountain drinks with free refills?
I've noticed this mainly with Indian restaurants that if you order a soda, you get a 12 oz can of soda. Isn't it cheaper over the long run for a restaurant to have a fountain machine as the syrup is cheaper? If other restaurants generally use fountain machines, why don't Indian restaurants? I don't think I've ever seen an Indian restaurant with a fountain machine.
If the cold fusion diode was being brought to Los Angeles Griffith Observatory, why didn't the NCR send reinforcements to help protect it against the attack from the Brotherhood of Steel?
The NCR having cold fusion would be a massive benefit to them. Why wouldn't they consider it a top priority to secure? Was NCR leadership skeptical of Moldaver's claims that she could provide cold fusion with the diode and thus decide it wasn't worth it to reposition soldiers doing other important work? Did the Brotherhood of Steel attack happen before the Griffith Observatory could be appropriately reinforced and fortified?
Can someone be so septic that they don't look septic and fool you into another diagnosis?
I'm a hospitalist and recently had a patient with generalized weakness and back pain who ended up being profoundly septic. Had elevated BNP and lower leg edema so I thought it was heart failure. No fever, leukocytosis, tachycardia. The emergency department doctor didn't think it was sepsis, the admitting hospitalist didn't think it was sepsis, and I didn't think it was sepsis the next day when I got him. We got an lumbar MRI that the radiologist didn't read as possibly infection. My initial plan was diuresis and then spine surgery consult because there was some cord impingement.
The afternoon of the first day I got him, he got transiently encephalopathic and I thought poor perfusion of the brain and still didn't think it was sepsis. The spine surgeon looked at the MRI and thought maybe abscess and then only did I get blood cultures, even though I wasn't convinced. MSSA.
Patient only started having fevers, rigors, tachycardia about 24 hours after starting antibiotics. Was he just so sick that his immune system couldn't mount an appropriate response until the amount of circulating bacteria was reduced by antibiotics?
How aware is the film crew of the recreational drug use of the cast members?
For example, many of you believe that Elise and Joshua in Before the 90 Days are using cocaine as per the comments in 2 of my previous posts linked below. With how invasive filming is, especially since the film crew goes inside everyone's homes, how do the cast members hide their recreational drug from the film crew? Does TLC actively conceal/cover-up the cast member's recreational drug use?
What specifically makes it unprofitable to operate grocery stores in food deserts?
I mean, there are people who live there, a lot of them if talking about urban food deserts, who want to buy food. Is it that even if grocery stores exist, the local population is too poor to purchase the higher profit margin higher quality foods that are needed to keep a grocery store financially solvent?
Did Joshua intentionally invite friends over on Elise's last night as a passive-aggressive method to piss her off and have her break up with him so he didn't have to do the work of breaking up?
Did Joshua have a thousand-yard stare on the car ride home on the last night Elise was in Australia, realizing he can't take it anymore?
Do all animals, especially males, think they are big and bad despite how small, cute, and cuddly we perceive them to be?
Like do the birds that make cute songs early in the morning to attract mates think they are being hypermasculine? Do the male bunny rabbits think they’re like super strong like a knight in shining armor that can protect their mate from all predators?
What is the purpose of compost tea?
It seems to me compost tea is just diluting your compost just like adding water to your hand soap to avoid refilling the soap. If the compost tea spreads out the compost over a greater area, there is less organic material added to each square foot of the garden and the compost is less effective. You can't magically make extra compost by just diluting it with water homeopathic medicine style.
Next time I go to a restaurant, I will order a blanket instead of food
What are some strategies to set expectations with the family when you suspect the patient is going to have a prolonged admission with a lot of complications because they are in poor health?
My recent example is a patient with strep bacteremia who had issues with sufficient IV access so I was discussing a possible central line with the family, who mentioned the patient has had a central line before and knows what it is. At that point I knew I had a ticking time bomb. Guess who got a duodenal ulcer perforation the next day in septic shock, A fib RVR, emergent intubation and transfer directly to OR at another hospital. Still admitted a month later.
I'm of the opinion that there are 2 types of patients admitted to the hospital, the first being a straightforward illness that you treat and the patient goes home a few days later. The second one, despite presenting with something simple, will develop delirium, a random bowel perforation, cholecystitis, urinary retention needing chronic foley, pressure ulcers, a random cardiac arrest, etc. How do you let family know that it will be a while before discharge early in the admission when you suspect you have this type of patient so they don't get upset when the patient doesn't get better quickly? You can't just say "your family member has poor protoplasm and this admission is going to be a shitshow."
It was understood by everyone at the meeting that the 41st division would be catastrophically destroyed if sent on that mission and Iroh later admits that Zuko was correct to speak out and protect loyal Fire Nation soldiers from betrayal by their generals. Would Iroh have done anything different and if not, how many times has Iroh been silent when the Fire Nation is doing morally wrong things against its own people? As a member of the White Lotus, doesn't Iroh have a responsibility to prevent evil from happening? Zuko wasn't even supposed to be at that meeting.
[ATLA] If Zuko wasn't at the war chamber meeting, would Iroh have intervened to prevent deployment of the 41st division?
