Weird/forgotten tracks that held an F1 race: Pescara Circuit (1957)

Built on public roads around the city of Pescara, this 25.8 kilometre monster holds the record for the longest circuit ever to host a World Championship F1 race. F1 only raced there once in 1957 as a filler event during the Suez Crisis, featuring a terrifying layout of tight village streets and zero run-off areas that caused Enzo Ferrari to boycott the race over safety fears.

Sterling Moss was the winner of the race.

Weird/forgotten tracks that held an F1 race: The AVUS (German Grand Prix, 1959)

Made of just two long straightaways connected by a hairpin at one end and a terrifying, steeply banked 43 degree turn at the other (known as the "Wall of Death"). It was built on a public highway.

F1 only raced there once for the championship, largely because average speeds were dangerously high and spectator visibility was poor. Drivers hated it, and Stirling Moss famously dismissed the track as a "dump."

Jean Behra was tragically killed during a support race when he was thrown from his car after losing control on the banked turn.

Beyond the track itself, the site has become a strange historical footnote in Berlin. You can find traces of its former glory near the AVUS Winners Podium. It also features offices for mandatory medical and psychological assessments, and a lodging facility along the A115.
