Is it just me, or does Isaac in the Remake sound nothing like Isaac from 2 and 3?

And I don't mean it as, "Of course Isaac sounds different, it's been a whole decade since his voice actor voiced him!" I watched some interviews with Gunner Wright and I have to say, his voice sounds pretty much how I remembered it, just a little raspier.

It makes me wonder if the devs specifically asked him to voice Isaac differently this time. Maybe to emphasize how inexperienced, how Normal he was at the beginning?
