Pigeons in apartments + pigeons with dogs?

So I want to begin by saying I do not have a pigeon. I really, REALLY want a pigeon and have my whole life though. I had birds as a kid, budgies and finches, but I don’t have them anymore and didn’t become especially close with either. Smaller birds just aren’t what I want, I suppose.

I’ve always asked for a pigeon but my mother doesn’t like pigeons so she refused. Well- now I’m 20, looking into finding my own apartment this next Summer, and I want a damn pigeon! I live in a city while attending uni and it’s just made me want a pigeon more.

However, I have two main concerns. One is that an apartment might be small, though I intend on allowing it to be fully free roaming and house trained so I’m hoping it’s less of an issue then. And my second concern is my dog.

My dog is a small Maltese/GSP mix, having taken most of his looks and behavior from his Maltese parent, but he does freak out over finches and squirrels. I can’t say if it’s in an aggressive way as he’s never actually caught a bird or squirrel, but he barks and lunges. He currently lives at home and has never seen a pigeon, so I have no idea how he’d react to a larger bird, but if I got an apartment him living with me is a non-negotiable. He’s lived with a number of cats throughout my life, including a kitten he’s living with now, and he’s fine with them- though he does enjoy chasing the kitten from time to time. I’m worried if I got a free roaming pigeon he’d make an enemy of it.

So I guess I’m wondering about your experiences keeping pigeons in apartments and alongside small dogs, and if you all think it’d be a good idea.

Found a juvenile grey catbird outside my workplace with a sprained/broken wing

We put it in a box with some water for now. It’s very lively, capable of gliding but not flying. We took him inside where there’s air conditioning, we close in three hours at which point we’ll be able to take him to a rehab or something.

Located in Ohio.

Edit: The bird managed to heal enough to glide, still not fly fully but it was able to gain some air. We released it in a decent sized yard and it flew into a very nice bush. We’re hoping it’ll stay in that bush and feed from the bugs in it.

Found a juvenile grey catbird with a hurt wing at work. What do we do?

That’s about it. It’s definitely a juvenile grey catbird, we found it outside a store next to us and followed it until we were able to snatch it up. We put it in a box it can’t fly out of with some water. It seems very energetic, not lethargic despite of course being anxious. We have about three hours until we close, at which point we’re going to figure out somewhere to take it. Until then, we’re stuck with it in here- but we have air conditioning and water, so it’s a bit better in here.

The wing appears to be broken or sprained. It can glide but not fly.

Is this a reddit scam or just a very confused new user?

So basically this new 15 day old account commented on a post I made on the doordash sub calling me “Amber” and asking if two named individuals “knew about this”, saying I was a fraud. They then DMed me with this woman’s full name and said I’d need to use my “stolen money” for an attorney. I joked that I’d put on in stocks, they said that was a confession, and then they were banned.

I usually don’t accept random DMs, but the ominous DM combined with the comment caught my attention. I am of course not named Amber nor do I know either of the two people mentioned in this user’s comment, and the user was banned before the interaction could continue any further- but I am curious, what was the goal if this was a scam? What would they have tried to do? Who is Amber Leach?

Is this message automatic or does it actually mean the dasher is having a hard time?

Whenever I receive the notification I respond with more information about my location, but I don’t want to seem impatient if it’s just some kinda automatic message sent when the dasher is waiting nearby for an extended period of time.

How to make this moving jaw not slouch? And… actually move?

So this is a 3D model I sculpted and printed, it’s supposed to be a mimic. A deer creature mid-transformation into a human, it’s the skull.

The problem is that although the top and bottom jaw is hollow, it’s still too heavy. I have it attached by like three individual elastic bands and it still falls down slack when held up. I can’t put bands any higher because, well, they’ll be too visible.

Any thoughts? I have access to a 3D printer and can print some hinges if they’re viable, but there are no drill holes in the mask and I don’t have the tools to make some.

Notary admitted to illegal practices, thoughts?

I work at a franchised store in Ohio where we have a few notaries on staff. Recently, we’ve had to put up a sign saying we won’t do open titles because they’re illegal (an open title is when a seller fills out a title without filling out the buyer’s information as well, despite swearing that the buyer’s info is true when they sign it).

Recently we had a customer see our sign and give us her notary business cards, telling us- verbatim- “I’ll do the illegal stuff”, adding quotes around “illegal”. We can’t really make a complaint because we don’t have any of the illegal documents she’s notarized. Should we just throw out the business cards? Should we actually offer them to irate customers, or would that be participation in illegal notarization?

I don’t know- this is just so odd.

Edit: I submitted a complaint through the OH notary website’s complaint portal simply giving her name and what she said. Now whatever happens will be out of my hands. We also threw away the cards, we will not be sending customers to her for illegal notaries.

Most annoying question I get cause of my lip piercings

“How do you kiss”. I have a pair of angel fangs that basically cover my mouth, I like them because it makes me feel like a vampire and they’re a subtle hint that I’m “off limits”/aroace. But I constantly, CONSTANTLY get this question- some from creepy old men, some from women who just don’t understand basic boundaries.

I don’t know how to answer- because the real answer is “I don’t” but that just makes them more confused. What do they want from me? An in-depth explanation? It is SO annoying! You don’t ask people with ANY OTHER PIERCING this kind of question!

Consequences of notarizing an open title?

Hey all! I’m a duel-state notary (OH and PA) and at my place of business in OH I recently found out some of my notary coworkers have been notarizing open titles (a title with only the seller’s information filled out and the buyer’s info left blank). These customers are return customers who have had this done for them many times because they auction cars, according to them.

Now I personally refuse open titles, but I’ve been chewed out by two customers now for refusing because my coworkers happily notarize the titles. I explained to my coworkers that it’s illegal in all 50 states but they don’t really care. I was just wondering how much trouble they or my place of business could get in for notarizing these titles, if it ever becomes a problem, and how it could become a problem if it were to.

Is this reading as a skull?

I’m trying to make a skinwalker mask that I intend on 3D printing and painting. The idea is for it to be a visually uncanny mix between a human skull and a deer skull. This is what I have of the top jaw right now, minus the teeth and the hollowed out eyes.

I’ve never made a skull before though so I’m not sure if it’s reading as a skull, or if it just looks like a strange creature. Thoughts?

How to make this look less like a deer skull and more like a deer/human hybrid?

Second image is not mine, I found it on Pinterest but unfortunately could not find the artist’s name. I’m trying to sculpt a skinwalker-type design so I can print it out and turn it into a mask. My goal is to make it look like a creepy mix between a human skull and a deer skull, similar to how the reference image mixes a bird skull and a human skull.

However, despite mixing the bones themselves in my 3D sculpt it still isn’t recognizable as both a human and a deer. I would post this on the 3D sculpting sub but I feel like you guys might have good advice. Any thoughts?

Note: I have not added the bottom jaw. It might help, it might not. I don’t know.

Great Lakes Medieval Faire is using AI to advertise their themed weekends.

I love the Great Lakes Medieval Faire in Ohio. I’ve supported it since I was a kid. However, I cannot support this. I don’t want to bash the faire, I know not everybody gave their go-ahead on this, but I think Faire-goers deserve to know.

This is awful. They’ve supported human artists for years, but as soon as they find a cheaper option they run to it? I’m just so disappointed.

What did they use for the fabric on this head?

Suit belongs to FishFriend on Instagram. I want to make something like this for the upcoming medieval faire but I’m not sure how it was made. Is it just painted fur? Something else? It’s so seamless!

Romance films about fictional characters come to life?

Think:

-Purple Rose of Cairo

-Between the Lines (musical/book but fits the description)

-Lost in Austen (mini series but fits the description)

Pretty straight forward. Reader/fan interacts with and falls in love with fictional character in some media. For some reason I’m having a really hard time finding other movies with this plot, despite it seeming relatively cliche?

Is my pup overweight?

So I posted last night asking about what “size” dog my Maltese/german shorthaired pointer mix might be (wanting him to be a small so apartments would accept him). In the post I was calling him a fatty and said the fact that he wears a medium may be caused by that, but I’m not actually sure if he’s fat or if he’s just… built like a fridge.

We don’t know his weight because we don’t have a scale at home, but we guess around 20-25 lbs. These were the best photos I could get because he’s a little nutzoid who won’t sit still, I had to put his toy up just so he would actually stop moving.

u/Ameabo — 2 months ago

Would this fatty be considered “small” or “medium”?

This is Cujo, he’s a mix between a Maltese and a German Shorthaired Pointer. I don’t have a banana for reference so I hope my hand (20F, 5’8 with normal sized hands), my pillow, a couch, a baby gate, and a bathtub will suffice.

Basically I’ve started looking into apartments because I’d like to live off campus when I attend uni this year but most apartments specify “small dogs” if they allow pets. He’s about the size vertically of my large orange cat and, although we haven’t weighed him in a while, we guess he weighs around 15-20 lbs. Most of his weight is because he’s a fat little munchkin, less so his breed and size. Is it likely he’ll pass for a “small” dog in the eyes of landlords or is he closer to medium?

Another note- when we get him collars we have to get medium and put it to the smallest size it can go, small dog collars to not fit him. He has a fat boy neck. We got that sweater for him ages ago but I think it was also medium, although the sweater was for “small to medium dogs” so I would assume a medium in that case would mean slightly bigger than small. His height is below 24 inches, we got a 24 inch high fence and it’s taller than him.

Healed angel fang suddenly painful?

So I’ve had these angel fangs for about a year and a half now. They’ve been healed for a while. However, recently the right fang (my right, right side of the photo too) has felt sore/painful whenever it’s pushed on. My left fang is just fine, but my right just… hurts for some reason?

I’ve had this jewelry in for about 6 months now, never took it out. Got the jewelry from BodyArtForms, they’re titanium threadless curved barbells with permanently attached ball ends so only the fangs can be switched out. I’ve cleaned it with saline spray multiple times a day since I’ve noticed the pain, to no avail. I honestly just don’t know what the problem is.

Why does my kitten treat her leg like a toy?

I’ve never had another kitten play like she does, she kicks herself in the face and attacks her legs like a dog chases its tail. Is this a common method of play?
