Maintenance stairs at Varosa Dam, Portugal
What did I inherit from my dad? Is this a good unit to own? Model 2
It goes nuts over my radium clock, fiestaware, uranium ore, and fossils, so I know it works. I worked with cesium-138, Fe-59, tritium, carbon-14 in the past, so I’m not totally ignorant, but new to sampling and Geiger counters in general. Thanks!
Geiger counter modification made by my dad. What did he add?
He added another sensor and a couple toggle switches, volume knob, and vent holes. Presumably some other electronics inside. What on earth did he Frankenstein together?
Dealership suggested coolant flush every 10k miles?
I brought the truck in for recall download, 30k service, and a faulty front center-left parking sensor. Other than the typical BS upsells (wipers, cabin filter, tire rotation), they wanted to do a coolant flush, which they said is recommended every 10k. WTF? Does this make sense to anybody? I declined because if it was the battery coolant, it’s good unless it tested bad, not because it was too old at 30k. That stuff should go for at least 100k or more. Before I question them further when I talk to them again, do you know what they were trying to do? Even ICE doesn’t need any coolant flushing that often. Brakes? But even brake fluid should be good for far more than 30k. Of course, this is a 2023, so maybe they are thinking brake fluid every 3 years and I misunderstood?
Found some wireless EV chargers today!
found this stone and cracked it in half and found this, does anyone know ?
Mud flaps - short or long?
I generally see either short ones or long ones available. Is size really just personal preference and taste? (I know, it’s hard not to make a joke here lol) In otherwords, are the short ones ineffective and I really need to get the big ol’ hangers? Or will the shorter ones take care of 80% of the issue? It’s not like I do a lot of mudding, but I’m on enough dirt roads that my fenders get dirty. Thanks again, you guys are the best!
Does regeneration happen if I’m at a slow coast?
For instance, if I let up on the accelerator (single pedal driving not enabled) at 45mph on a flat road, the far left percentage shows a little green, but it doesn’t light up extra green in the middle and show the shooting green on the right of the gauge. If I brake, it’ll show regeneration as normal, but at that slow coast, is it also regenerating even if not displayed as such? If not, do I have to hard-brake to get the benefit? The single pedal mode is too aggressive for my comfort and unfortunately, it’s not adjustable, so I just don’t use it. Thanks!
Simple Access Hatch
I created this little door in the middle of my fence to dispose of the few fatty organics I would otherwise compost (avocado, eggshells, dairy), because I was tired of raccoons digging up my compost. Now they get their own dining area in the woods outside my yard.
Fencing Solution (chainsaws? we don’t need no stinkin’ chainsaws!)
When you want a fence, but have a big ol’ damned cottonwood tree trunk that you just can’t remove, whatcha gonna do? Build the fence around it, of course! Didn’t even need a new post because I could just attach the 2x4 stringers right to it and screw on the cedar pickets lickity split! This beast fell onto the original fence some time ago, but now it doubles as a climbing toy for the pygmy goats too!
