If you planned to meetup with someone and they don’t respond, does that just mean ghosted? And would you try again?

Been trying to make friends around the new area I live. The past couple times I planned to meet, they either cancelled or just didn’t respond. I’ve tried following up, and don’t get an answer most of the time.
Yesterday a gal told me she wanted to meet today at the library. I said I’m down. I texted her today letting her know I’m grabbing a coffee on the way there and asked if she wanted one. She hasn’t responded and we’re supposed to meet in half an hour. Is it normal to follow up and ask if plans are still on? I don’t want to seem weird or anything. And if someone cancels plans or doesn’t say anything, would you try again to meet with that person? Would like to see different perspectives here. I didn’t realize how hard it would be trying to make friends in my late twenties haha.

What happens if you order something and forget after a couple years and it doesn’t show? Just lose money I guess?

I usually pay attention to what I buy and when it’s coming in, but a couple years ago I made a purchase and then I had to go without a phone for a while and was going through some sudden life changes. It took months for me to get a phone and by that time I had forgotten to download Depop. I’ve been ordering off Depop again recently, went through my purchases and realized there were two orders I place years ago that never showed up. I lost $44 on one order and $15 on another.

I guess I just lose out right? I know there’s like a 30 day window or something to cancel and get a refund if it doesn’t show. Lesson learned

Getting my very first purse ever, a thrifted Tory Burch!

Almost 30 and I’ve never had a purse before. I’ve heard Tory Burch is pretty good, but I grew up poor so when I saw their prices I was shocked lol. I can’t really afford to drop $300+ on a bag. Got this one for $60 on depop! I’m so excited for it to come in. Is this a good deal for this bag? It looks to be in excellent condition.

Tips for starting a balcony garden?

I’ve lived in apartments most of my life. Had a huge garden on my grandmas land when I was a little kid. I’d love to grow my own food since prices have gotten so high, but not sure what would do well on an apartment balcony in pots.
What I would eat the most often and make most use of:

• Tomatoes
• Peppers (especially bell), bf loves jalapeños
• Herbs
• Cucumber
• Zucchini
• Potatoes
• Cabbage
• Spinach
• Berries

Located in NC currently. Moving back to Texas most likely next year or the year after.
Would highly appreciate amazing beginners tips! I’m new to this sub and have seen some beautiful balcony gardens, I want to be yall when I grow up :’) <3

Order being shipped to previous address, they won’t let me cancel or reroute

I placed an order last night and double checked that my updated address was put in. I moved out of state. Checked the order this morning and it says it’s being shipped to my old address. Tried calling the customer service number, says they’re not open. But it’s almost 8am? Contacted support through email. They asked if I wanted to cancel the order, I said yes. Then they told me they can’t cancel it. So I asked if it can be rerouted or if they can give me the carrier info so I can contact them. I’m so upset. Why do they only have a 1 hour cancellation window? Why did it send to my old address when I put my new one in? Why is the customer service number not working? Guess I’ll try and see if the people at the previous address still live there and if they can ship it to me :’)
Has anyone had this problem? Did you just lose your order or did you get it resolved?

Broke the news to my boyfriend about his pothos/mealybugs & surprised him with a new one today! :)

Posted earlier about the mealybugs on my s/o’s favorite plant. Gonna try to save it, I have it outside and have cleaned the area. Other plants are safe. Got this new one for him as a surprise and he loves it!
Isn’t she purty :’)

Will post an update on the infected one once I can get to cleaning it up! I have it outside for now. Will start working on it tomorrow morning.

Can I save my boyfriend’s pothos?

Google says these are mealybugs. I’ve cared for many plants and never had these before. I read using a qtip with alcohol to rub them off can help, but what else can I do? Can his plant be saved? He got it from a nursery less than 2 months ago.

I separated it from our other plants and have it in the bathtub at the moment while I do more research. Any advice would be so helpful!

Getting my dream villagers- but the last 2 WON’T ask to move :’)

Update: No way! Apparently Admiral wants to move all of a sudden 😅 Only took 3 weeks of endless time traveling and posting about him on Reddit lmao. Cranston you’re next!!

Hello! I’ve been on the dream villager hunt for a few weeks now & have managed to get 8 of my dream villagers. I’ve had Admiral & Cranston since I started my island on this switch and they will not ask to move out!

I’ve been doing the time traveling method, gifting my dream villagers to try and prevent them from wanting to move out, and have been ignoring Admiral & Cranston. Is there another trick I don’t know of yet? I’m getting an emulator at some point so it’s easier but that won’t be for a while. Am I missing something?

Tights for women under 5 foot and pale/fair skin?

I’m 4’9 and around 100lbs. I can’t seem to find tights or pantyhose that don’t go up to my chest 😆 I want to wear my dresses and cute outfits to show my legs more often but they just look so awkward! Looking for best brands for shimmery tights and fishnets that would look good and last a long time. I’ve looked into Capezio, but it looks like those fit better for taller women.

What are your favorite brands of tights? I’m looking for shimmery tights that make my legs look natural and somewhat glossy. I’m now a size women’s small.

Has anyone here left serving for a career they enjoy & is paid well?

Been in the food industry & customer service going on 12 years. Highly considering taking an education course soon called BioWorks after taking a basic Manufacturing course earlier this year. Standard manufacturing doesn’t seem to be for me, but I do like the science side of things and want to learn & work with my hands.

Aerospace is interesting, but I’ve heard it’s really hard to get into. I love animals but don’t see myself going into 80k-120k debt for a 30-50k year job. I want consistency, to continue learning, not something too physically hard on the body, & feel rewarded. For example I’d love to learn to build/fix parts that go on space ships, or submarines & things needed to explore the ocean. Long term I want to eventually own land, homestead, & care for animals. I’m not even 27 yet and my neck, shoulders and back are already killing me all the time.

I’d love to hear where your path out of customer service or waiting tables took you. If you went to a community college or got in from networking. What career did you get into without a degree?

To cat owners, how the heck do you sleep peacefully?

Mine wakes me up several times every night & my partner and I work opposite schedules. He’s M-F & I work the weekends so 7 days a week I’m woken up at 5-6am. + my cat meowing at midnight, 1am, 3am, 4am and so on.

She sleeps in a separate bedroom at night but will still meow loudly for a long time random hours through the night. I tried keeping all the doors open to solve this but she’ll still meow around the apartment regardless, or knock things over, break things and goes out of her way to get to my plants I have high up in my bedroom. I can’t do this anymore. My body hurts from the stress and sleep deprivation.

I take prescribed Mirtazapine and it helped knock me out for the first couple of months, but now I’m still being woken up several times.

Do you get offended when someone calls your body parts “little” in what’s supposed to be a complimentary way?

For example, my s/o made comments before like “I like your little bubble butt” or “I love your cute little titties” and this really hurt my feelings. Recently I told him I didn’t like that and asked how he would feel if I said “I like your cute little ___”. We had a short argument because he said that’s not the same thing and totally unrelated. I said it is because you’re calling my body parts small or little, he still disagreed saying it’s not the same. I’ve had guys in the past make the same comments including the word “little” or “small” and I hate it. I don’t have the biggest body parts but they’re not exactly small either, I would feel much better if they were called sexy or perfect sized or something. “Small” and “little” just feels belittling and makes me feel insecure. Especially because most people out there prefer bigger asses and such.

What are your thoughts? Should I not be offended since the comment is said in a complimentary way in their eyes? Or is it valid for me feeling the way I do? Idk, I feel like if I told a guy that the same way they’d hate it and feel bad. But it’s okay to do it to me?

How early do you get up to do your hair & makeup for work and how long does it take you?

On average it takes me an hour to an hour and a half to do my hair and full makeup. I work at a brunch restaurant so I go in anywhere between 6:45 & 9am. I want to look more presentable at work but I’m not really a morning person and just don’t see myself getting up at 4-5am to do all that. How long does it take you to do your hair & makeup, how early do you get up and what does your routine look like for that? Trying to motivate myself & convince myself I can do it lol.

For my makeup I do:
• Primer
• Foundation
• Fill eyebrows with eyeshadow
• Concealer
• Eyeshadow & maybe liner
• False lashes
• Bronzer
• maybe add glitter if I’m feeling it
• Lip stick & liner
• Setting spray

Edit: 30-45 minutes of that time is spent on curling and styling my hair, & picking out jewelry & hair accessories. So it takes me about 45 minutes to do my makeup. I’m also super light blonde with some brown in my hair so I fill my brows with eyeshadow, that takes me about 5–10 minutes to perfect it to look somewhat natural lol.

2nd edit: I didn’t realize how many responses this would get geez! It’s interesting seeing all the different answers, thank you all for your responses. This will take me a while to read through all of them. To those that do their makeup in under 30 minutes, I give props to you & wish I could do it that fast. I might be a bit ocd because I have a very specific way I do my makeup, especially when it comes to filling my brows & eyeshadow.

Is something going on with the Sheba cuts wet food?

My cat (female, fixed, 7yo) has throw up her food the past 3 days. She eats her dry IAMS (orange bag) just fine in the morning and afternoon, but these past few days she’s been throwing up the Sheba tuna wet cuts within half an hour of eating it. I skipped the Sheba last night, & she still threw up this morning, but only clear liquid. This started about 4 days ago. I gave her Sheba tuna, she threw that up plus what looked like her entire days worth of dry food mixed in. It was an ungodly amount of throw up. Second day, she was fine, then threw up again after dinner only throwing up her wet food. Yesterday, was fine, I gave her half a portion after suspecting she was just eating too fast? Still threw it up. Then she threw up clear this morning. I haven’t given her her dry food yet for today.

Is something particularly wrong with the Sheba cuts, specifically the tuna? I’ve given her shebas at night for the last 7 years and NEVER had any issues with her throwing up until now. She’s been to vet 3 times in the past 2 months for separate issues (peeing on the wall and carpet by her primary box) and the vet said she was completely fine. No UTI, no kidney issues, nothing. I’ve been deep cleaning and now having to shampoo the throw up spots everyday and can’t enjoy one freaking day off because it’s always something. She’s only throwing up on the carpet which takes more time to clean. I had to fix another issue trying to keep my houseplants out of her reach because she would find a way to get to them, eat some leaves, get sick, and try going back to the plants for more. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars the past few days for new litter, cat posts, plant stands to hang the plants high up where she can’t get them, cleaning supplies, food, toys, and I’m planting cat grass for her today.

NSFW (GRAPHIC)- Nail bent back 3 days after getting them done, doctor ripped it off today. Nail care tips?

Asking for nail care tips after a nail comes off. I did see a doctor today, they numbed me up and ripped it the rest of the way out. This initially happened two weeks ago, the first doctor I saw didn’t have the tools to remove the nail so I had it wrapped in gauze until I could see the doctor today.
I plan on wrapping it like previously, but besides that is there anything else I can do for my nail? It also hurts like hell.

Behavioral issues, trying so many things and I think the simple solution is to have my allergic bf try antihistamines but he refuses to take them.

Update: I’m using a Bisell hydro steam pet shampooer to clean the carpet, Natures Miracle urine destroyer spray for the wall, got her more cat stuff and have more stuff for her on the way (cat tree, play tube, etc.). I talked to my boyfriend and he said it’s not his allergies that really bother him, it’s the litter tracking, her peeing on the wall by her box and her fur getting everywhere. We’ve come to a compromise. I will brush her twice a day, try a different litter combo and setup for less tracking, and he will try sleeping with the doors open so she has access to the apartment at all times and won’t be stressed locked away in the room. I’m glad he’s willing to compromise and try the easier solution. I told him she’s stressed being locked in another room at night after sleeping in bed with me for 6 years and he’s understanding that’s not fair to her.

My boyfriend is allergic to cats. I’ve had my cats for 7 years. I only have one with me now, my other cat went missing after a trusted friend lost him while they were in her care. My boyfriend and I have been together for a year. His allergies aren’t super bad, he just complains that he gets itchy eyes and that’s about it. But constantly complains about her smell and litter getting tracked everywhere, etc.

We moved into a new apartment out of state for his new job and I was able to bring my other cat with me. She’s fixed and has always been good about the litter box and such. Anyways, upon moving into the new place she started peeing in random spots around the apartment. 3 vet visits in less than 2 months, she’s completely healthy. The peeing everywhere mostly stopped until I discovered she’s been peeing on the wall and carpet right by her litter box. I got a second litter box and she still does it but only by the primary box where she’s peed by before.

We keep most of her things and primary box in the spare bedroom. I call it her room. At night, my boyfriend likes to sleep with our door shut and doesn’t want her sleeping in the room with us because of his allergies. She hangs out with us in our room during the day. When I get ready for bed, I play with her & put her up in the room. I let her out first thing in the morning, feed her, play with her and go about my house chores.

She started scratching up the door underneath and the frame, and meows around 2-4am demanding out. Along with that and the peeing on the wall, I’ve been trying so many different things and so far nothings working. I’ve brought up antihistamines to my partner multiple times, and said it would be a simpler solution if he would just try them and we try leaving our doors open. But he refuses. He absolutely HATES taking medicine and won’t even take anything if he’s sick. I’ve been spending hundreds of dollars trying to fix the pee issue, the scratching issue, anxiety meds, trying different litters. And I’m getting frustrated because I’m doing everything I can and he won’t even compromise by trying this one thing. He’s brought up to me in the past that “there’s simple solutions for everything. Nothing has to be difficult” yet he’s not following through with this one thing.

I feel like I’m the asshole for trying to get him to take antihistamines, but before we started dating he knew I had cats and still chose to be with me. I want a solution that works for everyone including myself because I’m constantly stressed out about having to clean up cat piss and beat around the bush finding other solutions. I’m spending every day including days off to deep clean, trying to prevent the door from getting damaged since we rent, etc. I don’t know what else to do. I’m going to talk to him again today about antihistamines and at least trying that with having the door open. But idk i don’t think he’ll be willing to do that.
