I've been gliding a lot. This season 70h have been added to my logbook. Amazing.

The soaring season has also came to an end. and i thought, why not get a glider? My own glider.

I only fly Polish made gliders. So far, only the SZD-50 Puchacz and SZD-51 Junior. (This season i only flew the Junior). So this is what i will probably end up buying. Something from the laminated SZD line. Probably the SZD-41 Jantar Standard. Because that seems like a better deal then the 51. But first, i will get atleast 30h of rental time on it. I really want to "get a hold of it" before i dive deep and buy it.

I set aside 20k EUR. Everything from the actual sailplane, to the trailer and additional expenses.

Now that i'm a full time airline pilot, i hope to fly more often, especially on off time. Both unpowered and powered aviation. Hopefully i can add 100h to my glider hours.

Where do i even find a glider for sale? There are so many websites, with so little listings. Whats the best place?

My instructor forced me to perform an outlanding. And forced me to deliver a wine bottle for the land owner.

During my gliding career, i did serval outlandings. Some happened over my own land lol (yes, i did give a wine bottle to myself). I always found who's place i landed at, and gave them a bottle.

But is this tradition common? And why is it wine? I only heard it from my instructor / club people.

Stopped flying recently because holly shit, AVGAS is ridicously expensive.

My deam has always been to fly for LOT. But i know that no way in hell am i getting hired by a legacy carrier. Or maybe i just don't understand the market very well.

I'm at 400 hrs. Should i save up and type rate myself? I heard that having it makes you more attractive to the airlines (for obvious reasons).

Holly shit, why does it take so much mental effort to post. I feel so much shame around love that i seriously couldn't speak about it to the therapist. Writing this post is causing me panic. And here i am (almost) anonymous!

To make it short: Whenever i had a crush on someone, i felt extreme gulit. I felt like i am a creep. Like i'm unhealthily obsessed with someone i find attractive on the street. This is why i never tried to approach a woman. I am just afraid i'd look like a creep. This doesn't mix well with low self esteem.

If i my wife didn't make the first move, i'd seriously be single for life.

Its been ages, like... 10+ years? We went to the same school. I moved on, found someone else i married.

We barley knew eachother. I think she forgot? I did too. I didn't realize who i was talking to untill i checked her name.

I don't know what to think about this. One one hand, its been a decade. But on the other, i had feelings for this woman.

I declined. Not because of this whole situation, but because i am quitting this business.

What the hell man...

I know it takes some time untill it expires. Also we're talking about the land of EASA, i don't know how it works in the US.

But for someone who only files airliners for a living, which obviously aren't single engine piston aircraft, it can be easy to forget.

If you're an airline pilot, who has a couple years of large jet expirence, have you let your SEP expire?

Założyłem firmę. Wtedy miałem taki mindset że chcę inwestować wszystko co mogę, aby mieć święty spokój i odpoczynek. Może dlatego bo prowadziłem tą firmę w taki sposób że byłem zawsze przepracowany i nie miałem nigdy czasu wolnego. Odkładałem większość zarobków na inwestycje. Żyłem dość skromnie. Nawet nie miałem czasu na jakieś luksusowe wakacje. Nazbierałem 1,2 mln.

Raz powiedziałem sobie dość, dokończyłem ATPLa i zostałem pilotem. Teraz sobie latam samolotami dla pewnej niebieskiej linii lotniczej.

Naprawdę kocham swoją pracę. Zarobki są niższe, ale nadal mogę żyć jak wcześniej. I w końcu mam czas wolny! Mogę sobie pojechać na wakacje bez bycia bombardowanym przez telefony. Jestem na 100% pewny że chcę tu siedzieć aż przejdę na obowiązkową emeryturę.

No więc.. chciałbym spieniężyć te inwestycje (+ sprzedać mieszkanie). Kupić dom blisko bazy, i wymarzonego merola. Może jakieś mieszkanie dla potencjalnego dzieciaka (ale w lepszym mieście). Jebać tą belkę już.

I tu problem - mam taki typ osobowości że pieniądze muszą pracować. Chciałbym aby moja żona rzuciła pracę, ale z drugiej strony nie widziałem nikogo smutnego w S-klasie. I dom będzie też rósł na wartości.

Pieniądze będę dalej inwestować. Może mnie wrzucą do lepszego samolotu, i do tego jako kapitan. Wtedy zarobki mogą znacznie wzrosnąć. Do emerytury jeszcze kilka ładnych dekad.

Czy naprawdę opłaca się porzucić FIRE na rzecz własnej wygody?
