How do you guys just build without worrying about the look of it?!

I'm a beginner and I've seen those Crazy builds people have done, and every time I'm like 4 hours in I just restart because I think it all looks messy and don't see it getting better. I'm also terrible at finding mining areas where one material isn't AGES away.

Do you guys have any tips on how to just enjoy what you're doing without comparing to experienced players?

Even if it looks messy at the start, as you progress do things fall more into order? Or is it a good challenge to make it as good as possible from the start

EDIT: At what point do you guys recommend finding a new node to mine from? Currently from one iron ode im making rods, plates, screws, and im mixing those plates and screws to make watever the name of the thing is they make... Am I milking that one node too much? The production is really slow

Ensuite or Studio??

Im going to RCS in Glasgow this sept, and looking for rooms. They have their own accomodation. Pricing:
Ensuite: 185/week
Classic studio: 245/week

The ensuite has a waitlist and no certainty that I'll get a room for first year
The studio is free to book right now for a 41-week contract.
Im trying to figure out what to do? Of course id rather not spend that much on a room but if it gives me a larger space AS WELL as certainty of a home, I can start making a budget now rather than last min.

Those of you who have stayed in either of those types of room, what did you love/hate the most, and whats you're advice for me?

Baptist reading YOUCAT

I'm 18 years old and raised baptist but curious about catholicism. Is this a good book for someone who already has a Christian background or is it more for new Christians?

I need a classy style!

Forgive the state of me in these photos lol, half asleep!

Anyhoo, I'm a growing young man and I dress quite formally. Ive come to realise that the mullet life style isn't the right choice for my fashion but I'm so scared of trying something new.

Any advice? I know it's outgrown and getting cut soon

Beginner but lovely organ pieces

Hi everyone! I'm 18, and a grade 8 pianist. I've booked my first organ lesson and it's coming up, but I'm so keen already

I've just finished learning Bach's little prelude (only not the fugue) in Gm on the organ, and I loved how beautiful it was.

Unfortunately I can't play with pedals yet (as I'm using a pipe organ plugin on my midi keyboard) but I'm comfortable enough with playing the Manuals, and ive learned a bit about al the stops on the organ plugin I'm using.

What are some good organ pieces that yous recommend I learn that don't rely on the pedal (solo passages)? Thanks and sorry if this is commonly asked!

Milk while teabag is in the mug?

I'm a Scottish man, and here I don't see as much of a love for tea. I've recently gotten into it though. I have two sugars (sweetener tablet things) and milk. I wonder though, do you put the milk in before or after you take the teabag out? I know to put it in after pouring the tea, but I've never known if you should pour milk after letting the teabag do it's thing in the water, or just at the same time that you pour the water in

Anyone else feel bad for Starmer?

im in no way a labour fan, but I see the poor man and cant help but feel bad. He was dealt a rubbish card being PM in this time. Has to clean up tories mess from last years as well as all that Trump is up to. I think people need a little more empathy

What is this feeling?

Im rather recently 18, and as any old-fashioned Scotsman, I enjoy whisky. ive never been a big drinker, but I'll have a dram every odd night. I notice that when i drink a reasonable amount quite quick, my eyes feel heavy and slightly uncentered. I thought this was "feeling tipsy", but everyone ive spoken to says that when theyre "tipsy" they just find more things funny. I dont change in my humour or attitude though, i just physically feel different like mentioned. Is this just how I personally react? or is it something different with a name

Should I be worried about my flat mates?

I'm moving to uni in September, and for some reason my biggest concern is that I won't have flat mates that I get on with. To those of you already in uni, is this really much of an issue once you're there, or is it just more of a worry that fades once you get there?

The greatest showman is hands down the BEST musical in the last 10 years

IN TERMS OF SONGS! Not necessarily story

There is literally not a single bad song, I dont even care. Wicked, dont even talk.

My favourite song is probably from now on or rewrite the stars.

Id love to see if im the only one who thinks this

Can someone tell the people saying "I don't want to pay for healthcare" that they already do?

The amount of leftists I see saying they'd never pay for healthcare makes me think they must be 14 and never have heard of tax

Heres the reportoire I did in my October Grade 8 exam:
Rondo Alla Turka W.M
Impromptu in Bm Samuel-coleridge taylor
Mazurka In Am no.4 F.C
Danny Boy (Jazz by Nikki Iles)

My favourite is currently the Mazurka. Im not clueless, and looking for straight answers, but i would like to know what pieces you all enjoy that are the level above these? or two levels, but nothing too crazy. Just looking for new pieces to work on.

Im historically prone to flight sickness, normally in the later part of the flight up until landing. nausea, dizzyness, the works.

This june im flying Gatwick to Orlando, and have been prescribed patches.
To those of you who have used them, did you find that they actually did much to help? Im aware of the effects like dry mouth, but if i can avoid nausea, dry mouth is paradise compared to feeling the need to die mid flight

I just spent my evening watching the whole ballet of Stravinskis "The Firebird". I did really like it! I often struggle with the 20th century sound, all its dissonant harmonies and polytonality, but it worked amazingly with the story in the fairy-tale world.
Heres the link to the specific one I watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2UVBI5w7SA

Im wondering what to listen to next. (While im at it, do we say "watched" or "listened to" when we talk about ballet? We are watching people show a story, but we're mostly there for the music)

Im looking for options aside from the nutcracker/swan lake. Something a little less famous. Ill get round to them, but I think I want to save them to see them live

Those of you who do enjoy atonal music, or very dissonant polytonal music (Like tritone interval keys), what do you enjoy listening out for that makes you enjoy it?

is there a certain familiarity in these pieces? Do you enjoy the thrill of having no idea of whats to come?
By this I mean with tonal music you can typical predict a cadence or a sequence, but obviously atonal music doesnt have these (or so I think)

I personally love listening to CLASSIC FM (or any classical radio) as it introduced new pieces that I may not have known before, and then I add it to a playlist!

Ive met a few police in my lifetime (for friendly reasons, dont worry)
And everytime they speak they ALWAYS say that line in their sentances.
One time I even just asked a guys name and he said "Oh yeah its gonna be Officer [NAME]"
Like if thats what your name is gonna be, whats your name now? lol

I'm a Post Grade 8 (ABRSM) Pianist, and I'm 18.

I started playing piano in 2024, with my mother as my teacher.

Since then, I've learned many pieces and in September I'm going to a conservatoire to study Music Education.

There's just one problem - I find that I don't actually enjoy playing...

I know this is quite a big thing and should probably have thought about it before but I just don't enjoy it.

I don't even get the satisfaction of finishing a piece.

I also struggle to properly get lost in music, whether listening or playing.

Does everyone face this problem? If so, do you have a solution, anything in particular that makes you enjoy it?

UPDATE:
I'm findinf that some people are saying it might be because Im playing music so hard (compared to my level) that Im focusing more than playing. Feel free to share any thoughts on/like this!
