Tools to export Spatial.io creations?

With the free/pro tier of spatial.io VR platform phasing out, I'm trying to export my creations on the platform. They are all some personal galleries to host my family photos and my kids threw lots of random objects to make a sand castle, nothing serious. No scripting, no interaction. Just a very basic walkaround simulator.

So far, the company provided the export package with all the images and 3d models you upload to your account, and a JSON file to identify where these objects were placed, orientation and scale. Kudos to them.

With trial and error, I also managed to rip the first party assets (for our private personal memory) like the building/gallery itself, with baked lighting, texture, and sofa, coffee table etc that were provided in their webpage creation tool.

I made a script using AI to turn the above JSON file into a CS script and imported the P/R/S of each object to the unity scene. Now the only thing that's bothering me is, my scene is filled with placeholders with correct coordinates, but I can't make it insert all the correct 3d objects and pictures in those picture frames.

If it was just a few assets, I would do it manually. But I have 4 scenes to convert, each one as about 100+ assets. So I don't want to really do it manually unless it's absolutely necessary.

Do you know any tools that can help me through the last obstacle and preserve my family memories?

I have been thinking about Ninja Ripper but because this gallery involves lots of walking around, I don't know if the engine would delete some geometries hidden from the camera, and then involve lots of labor work for me to manually align the pieces of different captures and weld vertices.

I tried searching GitHub, but the keyword spatial is a vague, doesn't give me any useful results.

What's your suggestion? Thank you so much.

Any manager for all VR mods, UEVR and none-UEVR?

Hi guys, lots of game mods are not based on UEVR. It takes lots of time to research, test every mod on GitHub and patreon and other places. Do you know if there's a summary of all the games and mods, ideally a manager that can install/enable these mods, but a spreadsheet will do as well.

Thank you.

Looking for some VRC worlds similar to RecRoom Paintball, Exploration, Quests with teaming up or pvp

Hi guys, I'm not a stranger in vrc, I have been to tons of breathtaking vrc worlds that are designed for people to hangout and chill. But I could use your suggestions.

Since RecRoom shutdown, I have been looking for a family friendly vrc world that offers similar colorful vibes and polished assets and map design that can allow me and my family to hangout in the weekend.

There are 4 of us in my family, we'd like to team up for some exploration or capture flag games, or uno and other board games.

I've tried to search and visit some worlds with higher replay-ability, but haven't really found anything that scratches the itch. If you could kindly recommend some names, that would be much appreciated.

Also, do you know any catalog or places to see highly praised worlds? I know space jam hub and some film festival hub, but none of them has any worlds that could guide us to somewhere we entertain every weekend.

Thank you very much.

Verse or AI, blueprint has to stay or upgrade!

I have read lots of your posts and comments. So I'm speaking as an artist who tried to learn coding but still got cold feet seeing error messages to tell me the variable is not the correct type, or a bracket is missing. That's what pushed me from unity to unreal in the first place.

Lots of you guys are coder wizards, you make amazing tools and games that blow my mind everyday. I know you guys have no problem picking up a new language like that. But lots of people in this community are also artists like me who just want to deal with art and ideas, not error messages.

I know there are a thousand reasons for epic to make this move. Some of you made it very clear. I appreciate that.

But in my honest opinion, shouldn't epic announce a new blueprint system which can be translated into a more efficient code behind the screen and easier for git to understand, not to completely remove it?

For artists, we don't care what's under the engine hood, give me verse, c++, Python, JS, or Klingon, we don't care, but the surface/frontend must be blueprint!

I don't know why epic can't see this and cause this huge debate. We are a community and should always be together!

Maybe their reason is AI, they might think we won't need to make blueprints in the future, our overlord will do that. Honestly, I'm happy if they can remove the need for more people to join us, but AI can't do everything, and we still prefer to do something by hand sometimes. So give us both, just don't take it away before everyone feels comfortable.

This is like, oh, you won't need to learn how to drive in 3 years, but now, you have to learn car mechanics in order to drive. That's just insane!

Why can't blueprint evolve? Why can't they talk to us before they make such a huge decision?

Maybe it's time to look for backup options.

Maybe I'll stay with 5.8 forever, since there's no more new updates in the future, so no more broken plugins, and I don't plan to make any 1 million user pvp game any time soon.

I said "bye, RecRoom" before I quit. How was your last few seconds in RecRoom?

Just remembered a small detail. When I hung out with my family members in rec room one last time, they quit one by one. Everyone said "bye RecRoom" before they quit.

My last adventure with my wife was the Artemis map. She said "bye RecRoom" in front of the giant Earth in front of us, while we stood on the moon. Then she quit.

Then I went back to my dorm, looked at my mirror and my dorm one last time, and said "bye RecRoom", and quit.

How was your last few seconds in RecRoom?

Regret buying Stephen Colbert souvenir from Paramount Shop!

A few days ago, to commemorate Stephen's show's ending, I bought this "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Logo Fleece Zip-Up Hooded Sweatshirt".

They charged 7.95 dollars shipping fee, and shipped it with the most crappy thin plastic bag and stuffed it into my tiny mailbox via USPS (it was claimed to be DHL, but actually by USPS.)

When I opened the bag, I was astonished by the low quality. The logo was small and faded away. The material feels very cheap, the outside doesn't have any fleece, inside has a very thin layer of fleece. To make the matter worse, my regular size M feels like size S.

When I tried to return, the process is also full of obstacles. First, you can't find a return button on either the Paramount Shop site, or the Shop app. I searched everywhere, there's just no mentioning of return. I had to google hard and eventually used AI to find out that their return process is ALSO full of challenges. You have to come to this secret (not so direct) link: https://www.paramountshop.com/pages/orders-and-returns
and then fill in your order number and zip code, to initiate the return.

When I tried to return it, they not only will deduct the shipping fee I paid, they also charged a $5 "convenience fee"!

For your information, they also don't offer any exchange, if you get the wrong size or anything.

I always hold grudges towards their decision to cancel Stephen Colbert, but I really wanted something for this special day. It's my bad. I will NEVER buy anything from them again!

$100+ Bluetooth ANC headphones that won't suffer from headband cracking and earpad peeling issues in 2 years? Recommendations please!

Hi guys, I had some really bad experiences with my soundcore headphones in the past few years. I love its sound quality (not an audiophile myself) but the first two I got had the same issues, plastic headbands started cracking and falling off, the earpad faux leather material started peeling and got the shredded pieces everywhere on my face and neck. My second soundcore was still in warranty, so I contacted their support, they sent me another one, I was really happy with their service. But it started doing the same thing shortly after. I really lost my faith.

I usually go with headphones below or above 100 USD. I don't know if I'm being too cheap, or it's just bad luck.

Now my kid wants to get a headphone. I did a quick search, I'm not sure if my impression is correct. Do all the $100+ headphones only last 1-2 years and eventually all suffer from these above issues, no matter the brands? I'm talking about the ones that are light, portable, with Bluetooth and active noise cancelling. I heard that the only ones that last longer are Apple's AirPods Max and some less unknown, but really professional brands around $500+, and some models made of steel and real leather that last for decades, and they are all wired and don't have Bluetooth.

Am I asking too much? Is it normal to replace your headphones every 1-2 years nowadays? Or should I stick with Apple tax now? (I'm like a "never apple guy". I don't like its walled garden, but this one is for my kid.)

We are looking at some popular brands like Sony, Bose QC Ultra, Sennheiser and such. We haven't completely ruled out Apple just yet, but that's way above our budget. If Soundcore Space 2 can last more than 2 years, we will get it now.

Thank you so much.

[Update] I just dove deeper into Amazon reviews about Sony, Sennheiser, Bose headphones above $100. These reviews don't mention the headband cracking and pleather peeling issues that much. I'm confused.

Where can I find an Official Stephen Colbert Mug?

Today is the end of the Late Night of Stephen Colbert. I went to their theater, only to find out that they don't have a gift shop inside the theater. The staff told me the only place to buy souvenir is online. I just checked, all their iconic blue mugs are sold out. The Paramount online store doesn't have a restock reminder. And I don't think they will restock anyways.

I also checked ebay, all the mugs there are fan-made "inspired by". Amazon has some officially licensed ones, but none of them are the iconic blue one.

At this point, where can I get one? Am I really out of time and out of luck?

Thank you so much for your help!

Hi dear hivemind, I have been struggling with this kind of effect. I did tons of experiments and researches, still couldn't find any answer.

So there are two challenges here. 1, create these curves that are aligned beautifully. 2, have different particles travel through them.

I'm familiar with particular and stardust, also 3dsmax and tyflow.

In AE, I tried particular and effectors, the result was quite chaotic. I was thinking, could this involve Adobe Illustrator generating paths first?

In 3d, I can already create these curves as stripe meshes in 3d, not as splines. But having particles move along the stripe meshes is somewhat messy. So I'm thinking about doing it in AE.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

▲ 4 r/SteamVR+2 crossposts

I just found this gem "Passengers Awakening" based on the movie Passengers 2016. I'm a big fan of the movie, especially its designs. So I bought the game on Steam right away.

I used my Quest 2 using steam link and Quest's airlink and the USB-C cable, the game crashes all at the same time when a lady in the intro video plays almost till the end. When using steam link, it would give an error box saying Unreal 4 crashed.

This game was released in 2017. Lots of other games released at that time don't have any problems. I know it has been abandoned for a long time, but just curious, since all the libraries and exes and game assets are packed in the game installation files, does that mean if a developer doesn't actively recompile his/her game every few years, it would eventually become a digital waste?

Is there any other ways I can try to make it work? I really wish to experience it.

(I don't really know what's the deal about awakening. The game Metro Awakening and Westworld Awakening are both really good. Why is everything awakening?)

Thank you and happy questing!

Hi dear community, I have spent tons of time researching and planning for our vacation, but there's lots of info online that are not accurate, especially for us outsiders. So I'm hoping to hear your thoughts. Deeply appreciated.

Basic info:

We will arrive at Sapporo on July 12, and leave at Sapporo on July 25, nearly 2 weeks. We plan to visit areas around Sapporo like Otaru, Lake Toya, Furano and maybe a couple of national parks.

I heard that Otaru Ushio Matsuri and Sapporo UHB fireworks are two major events during July. But because our flights to leave Japan will be on July 25, am I right to assume that we will most likely miss both events? Some websites said UHB fireworks will be on 24th, others said it might very likely be on 31st, after we leave. As to Otaru Ushio Matsuri, some said the first day (24th) would be a smaller event, the big one happens on 25th, involving 10k participants, but it will be on the same day of our flight.

I tried to look it up online, but there are not a lot of YouTube videos about these two events, most of them even have wrong labels or titles. So could you briefly tell me how these two events are like? Is it certain that the UHB fireworks will be on 24th or 31st? Is the Otaru Ushio Matsuri first day parade usually much smaller than the second day? What are we missing here?

Also, would you kindly share with us what should be the top of our list, since there are TOO MANY great places we want to go, unfortunately our time is very limited.

We are thinking about skipping the east and north of the island this time to reduce commute. Do you think if that's a good idea? Is it wise to skip Shiretoko National Park and Akan-Mashū National Park this time, and only go to Daisetsuzan National Park after we visit Funaro, and Shikotsu-Tōya National Park after we visit Sapporo?

Which areas would you recommend us to stay near Daisetsuzan and Shikotsu-Tōya? And how many days would be ideal for these two places for average tourists? (We also try to save our budget on hotel and airbnb.)

Thank you all so much!

Hi guys, my family and I have been using chat for a while. Our biggest complaint is, after a while, don't know how long, it just stops popping up notifications. On Android, I already checked Unrestricted battery usage in background. On iPhone, it has been running with its default settings.

Could you give me some hint on how to make it consistently work?

All the chat functions are good. Just the notification issue makes the whole thing useless.

Thanks.

I just saw someone posting a similar device that he designed to allow his 360 camera float while recording his kayaking. So I looked it up and found a lot of designs. (I couldn't upload more images once the post was posted. Sorry.)

For example:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3293972

https://makerworld.com/en/models/1547940-gopro-bottle-mount-compact-travel-friendly

https://makerworld.com/en/models/1719579-bottle-cap-mount-floating-grip-for-action-cams

https://makerworld.com/en/models/1797019-action-camera-bottle-quick-release

https://makerworld.com/en/models/1476920-gopro-floating-ring-boat

You can also diy with soda bottle or pool noodles, or design your own 3d print.

Of course, you can optimize and design your own. I'm just so happy to share my findings with you, hoping it could be convenient for you one day.

Feel free to share your camera floaties or anything you find useful. Thank you!
