Potter's weird moralizing in S4:E13 "The Gun"
I was making my bed this evening and this popped into my head for no reason I can think of.
At the end of "The Gun", Potter tells Col. Chaffey he should get rid of his Colt Peacemaker because "it's a troublemaker".
Chaffey: "It's my gun. I'll keep it till I die."
Potter: "And it won't surprise me a bit."
This is all a weird stance for Potter to take. Had his weasel 2nd in command not stolen it, there'd be no trouble.
"You should lose that gold cross that the thug stole, Father....it's a troublemaker."
"That money that was stolen from you? That money is bad luck."
(Interesting note, that gun would be a rebuild or a replica or something most likely, as 1884 Colts would be nickle plated, not chrome).
Correlation or Coincidence: Wincredit when you have a pile of store credit.
I finished up CCCCCCCC and so have a stack of store credit...I launched Wincredit, hoping it would be in the 150-200 range like the last time so I could use the store credit...but it launched with the $350 for spending $500 or something, which is way more than I want to spend in a shot.
This seems to be a common pattern I've had in the past couple of months.
Anyone else seen this? Or is it just a coincidence that i'm seeing?
Gift Calendar: Which is the last day to do the claim
I hate this time period in calendar...I'm never sure which is the right day to do the big claim to get skipped days.
Monday is day 19...Tuesday is day 20.
Do i do the recovery on Monday (19) and then claim the ultimate on 20 and get everything?
Or do I recover on Tuesday 20 and then after that ultimate unlocks?
Looking for: X-Men Mansion building blocks
Anyone seen this model (lego or lepin) on Temu?
Can a USB fingerprint reader be used with Mac?
I know an off the shelf usb fingerprint reader won't access the touch ID system, but can it still be used? like to launch a macro or somthing?
Wincredit: New variation with gift icon?
Wincredit popped up for me, and it was different...
Instead of the "buy in the first 30 minutes and get a bonus $1.50" type thing, it just is flat "here's the ammount you need and a present icon"
So, HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS VARIATION BEFORE?
I don't understand it...I normally just buy everything in one shot and go...is this a different one? Is this one of those annoying you MUST do multiple stages?
(I did let the 3o minute timer run out and as usual it was meaningless and now have the 72 hours to buy)
Lost coins in calendar...is it reserving them for skipped days?
I had 6000+ coins.
I've skipped 3 days.
When I look, I now have 3000+ coins. I have not spent any.
I'm speculating that it's grabbed 3000 into reserve to buy back the days, but I'm not sure. That would be a new mechanic. Tuesday is my next skip day, so I'll confirm then, but anyone else seen this?
Unopened Corned Beef in back of fridge?
I have a couple of packaged Corned Beefs in my fridge..they're a couple of months past the "freeze or eat" date.
They're sealed, been in the very back and bottom. The beef would be in the brine all this time.
Googling hasn't really told me...mainly focusing on "quality" than "safe".
Curses, foiled again1
Did a run of CCCCCCC which then led to finaly a decent wincredit of 62% off....but the main thing i'm wanting to buy..a $100 saw...I can't get into the wincredit page despite the various tricks.
I got 65 hours to go, so maybe i'll manage to get it to pop, but I don't have high hopes, and not sure it's worth doing the wincredit for just random things i've carted on whims. (it's like 335 for a 210 return iirc) --I'll put things in the cart like "ooh, wouldn't that be fun to have!" but don't really buy cuz that's b e silly.
I'm just whining where people would get it.
Can not upload image (image to model) to test how well it works- get Content restricted error... on MESHY'S OWN IMAGES!
Does Meshy just not let you actually use the tools unless you subscribe, even though it says it will?
Like, I appreciate limits on free use, but I tried uploading images certainly tamer than things i see on meshy already, but even they're own sample image in the tool, and get content restricted errors.
Before i sent in real money, I kind of wanted to actually see if it works with...well anything.
Have you tried any of the Asian snacks available?
These interesting looking snack items like Fish skin or crab keep popping up and I'm tempted to try them.
Has anyone done so? thoughts?
cccccccc: Looks like I'll spend about $120 for a $150 return...that seem right?
Needing 1 more purchase that seems stuck on $67 min, looks like I'll end up spending about $120 and getting $150 in return...that seem about right?
I don't think the 67 will change. and I got two days left.
A Challenge to Wrestling Journalists (re: WWE Name Changes)
Mike Santana has changed his name, and predictably, people are going bonzo.
If only one of the "journalists" in wrestling would go and investigate WHY some names change and some don't.
Up and down the card, big names, small names, proven stars and new people...
There's no rhyme or reason.
so, what fits what we DO know?
- It could be a simple as what gets clearance from WWE's legal department. WWE is a bigger company, thus target, so they likely have a more in depth search than TNA or even AEW. Actual contracted talent would be held to a different standard than guest talent.
- Wrestlers choose a new name for some reason. Either to signify a new stage in their career, to add a layer of separation from personal life and professional, or for business reasons.
a) Separation: there's countless examples of people...in wrestling and other "fame"...who've expressed they wished they'd kept their personal lives more personal.
b) Business reasons: You might make more (percentages on royalties, for example) with a WWE name vs a previous name leased to WWE, as there would be legal and accounting costs with that. OR, you have side businesses and you want to draw a line between (Like Xavier Woods/Austin Creed did).
- It's unlikely a WWE policy, as why would Ricky Smokes get to keep his name and Mike Santana does not?
there, u/seanrosssapp and fellow travelers, I've given you an outline to work with.. do the job you pretend you do..get answers.
Circular Saw Blade: How does it cut? Does this make sense?
I have this mini saw/cutter/thing. It comes with several kinds of blades, one of them the ...standard looking circular saw tooth blade.
Well, as the first picture(s) arrows show.. the blade seems to need go in "backwards"..or label facing in..which seems weird, but that's how the saw spins.
To my eye, it seems like it spinsbackwards, cutting with the back of the teeth, but this is how it works. Is this the right way it shold do it and I've just never looked closely?
(I tried this on a 2x4 scrap.. feels a bit wild when using it, and jams. I'd likely use the other blades for smaller things down the road, fwiw)
EDIT: for clarification: it's installed, spinning the way it points, but it spins with the bottom going backward... toward the user and the top forward...is that how saw blades normally spin?
Calendar (QQQQ): "browse for coins" task - how many times?
Ok, I need to decide if I'm claiming or passing on today's item. The question is, what's the likely hood of there being 1 more "browse items" task... I need 85 more coins to make 6 days skippable...
I've done two Browse tasks.. I _THINK_ that's it...anyone have input?
"Cheap Feeling?"
I've been in the shopping stage for a new car, strongly considering a Rav4. I like a lot of what I've read about it, and it felt good on a test drive.
BUT, one thing I've encountered several times in researching is people saying it "feels cheap", or "they've heard from car people it's cheap build"...
UNDERSTANDING that I'm posting in an enthusiast sub, I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have on this ... "reputation" is too strong a word, but it IS something I've encountered enough to want to learn more on it...
CCCCCCCC popped up...hope I'm remembering how to do it right.
CCCCCCCC is mainly a credit builder, getting small things off your list with a bit of a credit bonus, as I recall.
Had a $5 launch purchase, then a $15 followup. It wants a $35 followup to that, but I'm passing. According to the post I made first time I tried this, I did the two purchases at the start.
Any tips/reminders on how to play this right?
