How do you guys actually make friends on here? (Discord experience is brutal)

Deadass bro, how are you guys actually making friends on Discord? I've had this app for two full years now and I genuinely haven't made a single friend. Every time I join a server and just say "hi," it's like I'm talking to a brick wall literally nobody responds.

And whenever I actually try to join an ongoing conversation, it's always the same thing. Either I get completely ignored like I didn't even type anything, or someone comes in with a genuinely rude reply, bad vibes, or straight up tells me to mind my own business.

Making online friends is so exhausting. I'm in multiple servers and they're all like this.

thinking about trying OMAD...

so I’m thinking about starting the whole One Meal A Day thing. my plan was to basically just eat that one meal, and then throughout the rest of the day stick to water and unsweetened drinks like black coffee, tea, or nescafe with no sugar at all.

has anyone here actually tried doing it this way? how was your experience with it, and did it feel doable or just exhausting? would love to hear your thoughts or any advice before I actually give it a shot! Also I really wanna lose weight in a short time I feel that's the only way.

Please read I need help

I’m typing this while literally crying and I can barely breathe. I'm a 16yo girl living in a deeply conservative and toxic strict family, and I’m reaching my breaking point. I am emotionally and mentally abused every single day, and the trauma goes way back. My dad used to beat me so badly when I was younger, and he used to beat my mom right in front of me. She has zero personality now, she's completely passive, On top of that, my older brother has been physically abusive to me since I was a child, and it’s still happening until now.

Mom are neglectful, never apologizes, and feels so narcissistic. My dad is barely home, but whenever he comes back, he turns my life into living hell. I do literally everything around the house, yet I’m constantly told I do nothing. Just a while ago, my dad got furious and threw everything I love into the trash... and he might even take my phone away soon.

I don't even have friends. I have literally no one to talk to or lean on. Even if I tried to talk to people around here, nobody cares, and no one would help because everyone in this country has that same toxic, strict mindset. You can only live free here if you have money, which I don't.

I have so many big dreams and ambitions. I want to escape this country, I want to be free and safe. But I feel so hopeless. Waiting years until I finish university just to finally leave feels like a whole lifetime away, I feel like my whole youth will be wasted before I even get a chance to live.

Please, if anyone sees this... I don't know what to do. I need advice, practical steps I can take right now at 16 to prepare to leave, or just how to survive this mental torture when you have absolutely no one. Please help me.

How do you actually make online friends? Feeling a bit lost and isolated.

Hey everyone,

I’m struggling with making online friends and could really use some practical advice. I don't really have a solid friend group in real life, so I was hoping to find some connections online, but it’s been much harder than I expected.

I recently downloaded Discord and joined a few servers, but every time I try to chime in, people either barely respond or come off pretty unwelcoming/intimidating. It feels impossible to break into existing cliques.

To make things harder, I don't really play a specific main online multiplayer game or have a hyper-specific hobby that automatically connects me to a group. My English isn't my first language either, though I try my best!

Feeling completely lost, trapped, and overwhelmed with my life right now (16F)

Hey everyone, I just really need a safe space to vent and maybe get some advice, because I feel like I’m drowning in my own thoughts and have no one to talk to.

I’m 16, living in an Arab country, and raised in a strict Muslim family. Lately, I’ve just been feeling so overwhelmed by everything.

First off, when it comes to religion, I’m deeply confused and conflicted. I don’t even know how to pray properly yet, and honestly, a lot of things about religion just don’t sit right with me. It bothers me so much because this is the life I was born into, but I feel so disconnected from it. On top of that, my parents are very strict. I wear the hijab, but I secretly wish I could take it off. I know that’s never going to happen as long as I live under their roof, because no one here would ever accept that.

I have huge dreams. I want to travel, live on my own, build a life for myself, and honestly just escape all of this. But where I live, the legal age to travel independently without a male guardian is 21. That feels like an eternity away. I feel like my youth is slipping away, like I'm wasting my best years doing nothing while trapped in this house.

I’ve never experienced what real freedom feels like. I can’t go far from home, and even going out locally takes endless convincing and begging. My home environment is exhausting—it’s loud, tense, and constant chaos. It never feels peaceful here, and my parents just don't understand me at all.

I just feel like I'm completely lost. I'm 16, struggling with my faith, stuck in a controlling environment, and I feel so helpless waiting for time to pass.
