Telugu girl learning Malayalam — suggest some good movies/songs 😭

Hey, I’m a Telugu girl who recently started learning Malayalam and I really want to improve my listening and speaking.

Please suggest me some good Malayalam movies, songs, interviews, shows, etc. that can help me get used to the language naturally.

I’m especially looking for:

- Good movies with natural conversations

- Songs that are easy to understand / have nice lyrics

- Interviews or YouTube channels

- Informative stuff where I can learn new words

- Any good slang or everyday Malayalam content

Basically, what should I watch/listen to if I want to get better at Malayalam? 😭

Help me guys 🙏

Am I overthinking this friendship, or has it become transactional?

I've been friends with this guy for several years. My family is financially well-off, but I've never flaunted it or made him feel inferior. I've helped him whenever I genuinely could.

Recently, he started a business with his family's support and became successful. Since then, I've noticed a change. He openly says he networks only with people who can benefit him, ignores old friends, and suddenly becomes interested when someone has business/political connections.

With me, he constantly brings up my family's money in front of others. I've told him multiple times not to, but he still does. When we go out, he indirectly expects me to pay because "you have money" or tells me to ask my parents for money.

He also expects me to be available whenever he calls, but gives me delayed/one-word replies when I ask him to meet. Most importantly, I usually leave our meetups feeling drained rather than happy.

After my last post, neither of us texted for a while. Today he called me out, and I went with a genuinely positive mindset. I didn't want to assume he was using me and interpret everything negatively.

But the same thing happened again. He didn't bring money for the things we were doing together and indirectly expected me to pay, while he had money for something he personally wanted to buy a book.

I know this doesn't automatically prove he's using me, and I don't want to judge his intentions. But even after consciously trying to look at things positively, I still noticed the same pattern.

I'm thinking of simply setting a boundary next time: "I'm not paying for this." Then I'll see how he reacts.

Am I being fair, or am I still overthinking this? What would you do?

Best bank for a ₹3 lakh FD at 18? Also, how does tax work?

I’m 18, and my parents have decided to give me ₹3 lakh to put into an FD in my own account.

I’m currently looking at Slice because the interest rate seems pretty good, but I’m not sure if it’s actually the best option.

My main priorities are:

- High interest rate

- Minimal or zero premature FD-breaking charges

- Safe and reliable bank

- Easy access to the money if I need it

- Auto-sweep/sweep-in would be a bonus

I’m open to any bank, not just Slice. I’m mainly looking for the best combination of interest + safety + flexibility.

Also, I have no other income at the moment. How would the tax/TDS work on the FD interest in my situation? Would the bank deduct TDS even if my total income is below the taxable limit?

If you had ₹3 lakh to put into an FD at 18, which bank would you choose and why?

Would really appreciate any suggestions or personal experiences.

0.5 point five gadu meaning ?

Guys, I keep seeing/hearing the phrase “0.5 gadu”(point five). What exactly does it mean in Telugu slang? Is it a double meaning or does it have some other meaning?

Just curious 😭

Would this be awkward, or should I just do it?

18M here.

When I was in 10th grade, my class teacher had a huge impact on me. She believed in me, encouraged me, took extra classes before my board exams, and did a lot of small things I've never forgotten.

After my 10th results, I wrote her a long thank-you letter and bought her a saree as a gift. In my family, gifting a saree to a respected female teacher or elder is simply a traditional gesture of gratitude and respect, nothing romantic.

The problem is I never actually gave either of them. I kept thinking I'd do it later, and somehow two years have passed.

Since then, I didn't pass my 12th exams and I'm repeating the year. I feel embarrassed meeting her because I don't feel like I've achieved anything yet. But another part of me feels that gratitude shouldn't depend on success.

If you were in my teacher's place, would you appreciate this or find it awkward after two years?

Also, I'd love to hear your own stories, did you ever have a teacher who made a big impact on your life, and did you ever get the chance to thank them?

Girls, would this feel awkward, or should I finally do it?

18M here.

When I was in 10th grade, my class teacher had a huge impact on my life. She believed in me when I didn't believe in myself, encouraged me, took extra classes before our board exams, and genuinely changed the way I looked at myself.

After my 10th results, I wrote her a heartfelt thank-you letter (around 1,000 words) and bought her a saree as a gift. In my family, gifting a saree to a respected female teacher or elder is simply a gesture of gratitude and respect—nothing romantic.

I never actually gave either of them. I kept thinking I'd do it later, and now almost two years have passed.

Since then, I didn't pass my 12th exams and I'm repeating the year. That's honestly what's stopping me. I feel embarrassed to meet the teacher who believed in me when I don't feel like I've achieved anything yet.

From a girl's perspective, if you were in my teacher's place, would this feel genuine or awkward? Would the delay or my current situation matter, or would you simply appreciate the gesture?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions, especially from anyone who's had teachers they were close to.

Riverside 120 (RS120) vs Triban RC100 Flat Bar – Which would you recommend and why?

Hi everyone, I'm new to cycling

I'm trying to decide between the Decathlon Riverside 120 (RS120) and the Triban RC100 Flat Bar as my first proper bicycle.

My riding will mostly be:

- City roads

- Weekend fitness rides (20–60 km)

- Occasional longer rides if I get into cycling

- Indian roads with potholes and speed breakers

From what I've found:

- RS120: Steel frame, V-brakes, 700×35C tyres, 8-speed drivetrain, upright geometry.

- RC100: Aluminium frame, steel fork, caliper brakes, 700×25C tyres, 7-speed drivetrain, more road-focused geometry.

I have a few questions for people who've actually used these bikes:

  1. Which one did you choose, and why?

  2. How do the brakes compare in real-world riding, especially in the rain?

  3. Is the RC100 noticeably faster, or is the difference small for a beginner?

  4. How much more comfortable is the RS120 on rough roads?

  5. Is the RC100 too harsh because of the 25 mm tyres and steel fork?

  6. Which bike has better-quality components and fewer maintenance issues?

  7. How easy is it to upgrade either bike later?

  8. If you had around ₹20–25k today, would you still buy one of these, or would you save for the Triban RC120 instead?

I'd really appreciate opinions from people who've owned either bike for at least a few months.

Thanks!!

Should I change the cycle gear when there is movement??

Guys,

I'm new and don't have any idea about gear cycles

This is a billion dollar question,

Should I upshift or downshift the gear when the cycle is in movement or still in a place

(Is it something similar to car or bike?)

Also should I stop pedaling for a moment while shifting

Does "Laagoddu" sound like a Malayalam swear word or slang?

Hi everyone,

I'm a Telugu speaker and was wearing a T-shirt that says "Laagoddu!! Point ki Raa!" ("Don't drag it, come to the point" in Telugu).

While I was walking, a random Malayali stranger seemed offended after reading it. That made me wonder if "Laagoddu" sounds like a Malayalam cuss word or slang.

Is there any Malayalam swear word or vulgar slang that sounds similar to "Laagoddu"? Or was it probably just a misunderstanding?

For comparison, some words have very different meanings across languages. For example, "Andi" is a respectful suffix in Telugu, but I've heard it has a completely different meaning in Malayalam.

I'm just curious if there's any accidental double meaning. Thanks!

Do you think the internet is changing people's views on relationships and commitment?

I honestly don't know how to feel after discovering a side of Reddit I never knew existed.

I came across several NSFW communities where people were posting nude pictures just to get "verified," asking complete strangers for hookups, married people openly looking to cheat, couples inviting random people to join them, and people treating relationships like they're as disposable as a paper cup.

I know these are consenting adults, and people are free to make their own choices. But seeing all of this made me wonder: have we started normalizing things that used to be considered disrespectful or unhealthy?

It feels like loyalty, commitment, honesty, and self-respect are becoming less important than instant pleasure, validation, or attention from strangers. Everywhere I looked, it seemed like relationships were being treated as temporary, and trust was treated like it didn't matter.

Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but I still believe trust, loyalty, and keeping your word matter. I can't imagine throwing away a genuine relationship for temporary excitement, money, status, or online validation.

I'm not saying everyone is like this—obviously they aren't. But seeing so much of this in one place genuinely shocked me and made me question where our generation is headed.

Am I overreacting, or has anyone else felt the same after seeing this side of the internet?

Which app do you guys use to track the cycling data?

Could you guys suggest me some apps or which ur currently using for tracking down the cycling history.

I want to continue using a single app here on, so I have most of the data in a single app

Also generally a good on, I don't want the app to shutdown after a few years lol 😜
