I have a passion for researching and recreating TV schedules for when historical events have occurred since 1950. AMA

It started with me thinking. “I wonder what was playing on TV when —X— happened.”
Through wikis, TV schedule sites, and lots and lots of looking through old newspapers, I’ve recreated what a TV schedule would’ve looked like during events like say, Hurricane Katrina, the Deepwater Horizon disaster etc…
This has since expanded into Music and movies as well.

Do you ever watch biographical films about events in recent history and think about where you were airing the film’s events?

Say for example, you watch something like Hotel Mumbai, do you sit there and think “when this happened on-screen i was doing…”

Any advice on how to replicate watching (old-school) cable TV today?

Sure it would be easy to just buy Dish or get Cable, but as you already know, it’s expensive, and nothing but reruns and movies and shows the network has no business playing.
But I really miss those days when you flipped through channels and got high quality variety, while still having the news, weather, sports,
Etc.. all on the same thing.
Any advice on how to replicate that today?

What films do you think the characters would have enjoyed (in their time period)

Film was mostly always a background element in the series, except in the second film when they make the movie at Downton. That being said, what are some films from the silent era that you think the characters would’ve loved?

What was the experience like going to Windows on the world? How does it compare to the new restaurant in the new building?

It’s sad that nobody will get to enjoy WONW anymore, but I’ve read that there’s some new eateries at the new building, but it’s a far cry from what was.

Not limited to chefs but restaurant workers in general…if you’re passionate about culinary work, do you get burned out of your job?

I love food. I love reading about food, the history of food, menus, what people ate over time etc…
I’m a passionate (amateur) baker and cook at home that goes off of recipes.
Ideally I’d love to be a pastry chef or just a general cook at a prestigious restaurant, but I worry about the long hours, the lack of sleep, and about losing that passion, and drive for something I enjoy.
Any advice?

Is it ok if I get annoyed with people who are loud, obnoxious, and act dumb on purpose?

For context: I live with other people. People who talk loud, sing random songs out loud, shout at video games, and shout out quotes from tv shows or TikTok videos just to be doing it, and constantly wants to socialize about things I really don’t care about.
It makes me super angry and annoyed. But I wonder if that means I’m just a killjoy, or makes me perceived as cold and hateful.

Any recommendations for shows set in the 1900s-1930s?

I love the time frame of Downton Abbey, and the historical context of the events of the 1910s - 20s, I’m wondering if there’s other shows out there that have this as its setting as well.

What do you do if you find yourself getting distracted while in church?

I’m sure everyone’s experienced it before, but you’re in Bible study or in church service, and your mind wanders to irrelevant thoughts. You pull your phone out and start scrolling. You can’t keep your focus on the lesson at all.

Any advice on what to do?

Are modern urban pigeons the same as the doves mentioned in the Bible?

The dove is a common and reoccurring symbol in the Bible. When Jesus is baptized there is a dove.
Now, I’ve read that doves and pigeons are pretty much the same bird with two different names.
Would that mean the pigeons we see in city streets be the same as the one mentioned in the Bible?

Book recommendations focusing on “Starving Artists”

Think an avid book reader, writer or artist living in a tiny cramped apartment in Paris, poor but intellectually and culturally rich.
Think of Jack from Titanic.

One of my favorite aspects of the show is seeing the “new” technology get introduced

Here’s the simple beauty of it: through the show we get to see the characters get closer and closer to the modern world. This is particularly evident in the new inventions and tech they embrace (or absolutely reject).
My favorite instance is that of the wireless (radio set). Imagine living in a world where everything was limited to your own home, and now a device can bring voices, stories, music and shows from any number of places.
We take all of this for granted today and wouldn’t think much of a new radio set (given we have em in our cars, phones etc..)
But just sit there and think about how thrilling it truly is that we can hear music and talk at our own comfort and convenience. It truly makes
You marvel and look at our mundane objects as something treasured and unique - even if from a historical perspective.

Need some dating advice…

Ok, I’m very introverted. I like my space and quiet time. I can go a day without seeing anyone and it wouldn’t bother me. But I want to get on the dating scene and start a relationship with someone.
However, I worry about the commitment, and having to check in on a person once a day, and talk about your day or talk in general when there’s nothing to talk about.
Honestly, the kind of person I’m looking for is I’d just love to have someone sit on the couch with me a read without any words even said.
Any advice?

I’m need some advice for being a Asexual Christian.

So, plainly speaking, I’m straight, but I’ve never experienced sexual desire or anything related to it. It simply doesn’t exist for me. As for romantic, I can’t really say. I’ve have had some instances where I felt romantically interested in someone, but for the most part, I’m focused on starting my life, going to school, career etc…

But what worries me is the time that I Do pursue a relationship with a lifelong partner, the discussion will happen at one point or another and I worry it will cause problems with the relationship, or limit my options entirely. I want a Christian woman to live a Christ-centered life with.
any advice or suggestions? I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Anxiety related to sticky stuff

Ok this is little odd, I don’t know if it’d really
Be categorized as anxiety, but I really, really don’t like sticky stuff,
When I bake bread and have to knead the dough, I try to avoid it by using a spoon instead or if I do use my hands, I get uncomfortable and feel the need to immediately wash them.
Any ideas or suggestions on this?

How can I learn to be bold, outspoken, fiery, passionate and don’t care what others think?

You see them quite a bit in movies and TV shows (usually older women characters) but how can I adapt this for myself?
