I am tired of America’s race obsession with Odyssey

I am Greek, and I don’t want to talk about the movie itself, but rather about the many letterboxd reviews & social media posts I’ve seen that have sparked a fringe debate over whether Greeks are 'white' or not. Honestly, I am so tired of the American obsession with race being forced onto our country. It’s offensive to try to shove us into a tiny, specific box based on skin shade. Are they expecting us to look either strictly Nordic or African? Have any of these people actually visited Greece? It just goes to show how deeply alive racism still is in the US, and how obsessed they are with categorising everyone based on skin color. Also, I don’t care about casting a black actress as a mythological character. Helen of Troy never actually existed, you know. What I care about is for you to stop dragging my country into your toxic culture wars. Also, it would be nice if, in your next Hollywood movie based on Greek history or mythology, you cast Greek actors to represent their own culture. You know, it would add a sense of authenticity.

Είναι η Κρήτη συντηρητική;

According to Eurostat, has support for LGB people decreased since 2019? Is that data legitimate? It surprises me because laws and legal protections have improved dramatically, so I would have expected the opposite.

Are they bed bugs? My dad believes that we don’t have a bedbug issue so I need your help. All of these insects in these photos are dead.

You’re probably not interested in the World Cup, but let’s make a guess. Who do you think is going to win?

What’s wrong with the political landscape in Central and Eastern Europe?

I find it strange that Central and Eastern Europe are often much more socially conservative, considering that they were under communist regimes that, at least officially, supported things like atheism, more liberal abortion policies, and gender equality. Is there a possibility that this could change over time?
In Poland, for example, I saw posts about the president vetoing a law that would have helped with inheritance rights for same-sex couples. What is going on with the rise of ultranationalism and conservatism in these countries? It surprises me because I come from Greece, which is also a conservative country, but generally more moderate on these issues. I don’t really understand the mentality in post-Soviet and post-communist countries.
They strongly dislike Russia, but instead of doing the exact opposite of Russia’s policies, some of them seem to follow a similar direction in terms of nationalism and social conservatism.
