edit: been getting a few comments treating me like someone who hasn’t even read a single book by Christie, to clarify, I’ve read almost all of them.
With spooky season starting tomorrow, I thought I’d recommend this absolute classic.
if you haven’t heard of it, Flatliners is a surrealist neo-noir sci-fi horror about a group of medical students who risk their lives by taking part in a dark experiment.
still holds up really well and the way the concept is executed is absolutely brilliant.
9/10, can’t recommend this enough.
also, if you want more Kiefer Sutherland horror movies, Lost Boys is a must-watch.
while it’s no Sixth Sense, the critics hated this movie for literally no reason. i mean sure it’s not Shyamalan’s masterpiece, but it’s seriously an amazing film.
honestly this is a top 10 movie for me, mainly because i thought it’d be shit when i read the reviews, but i watched it anyway and it was a masterpiece.
also how the fuck was this PG-13? genuinely scared the living daylights out of me.

the reason I designed this is because I noticed that my copy has a shit synopsis. It says on the back literally everything that happens in the movie (including the iconic ending, which they decided to spoil only because of how iconic it is) and if I’d read that before I recently watched it for the first time there literally would be no point watching it at all.

also I’m not looking for very recent films (example: Redux Redux), films with annoying child characters (again, Redux Redux) tv shows, or anime. and absolutely no rape scenes.

age rating doesn’t matter BTW.
he’s seen all of the Terminator movies, Commando, Predator, Kindergarten Cop, True Lies, Red Heat, Raw Deal, The Last Stand, Escape Plan (which we both agreed was shit) and most of the lighter ones like The Sixth Day, Junior, Last Action Hero, etc.
the only one that was too much was Total Recall, but even then the gore was comic.
basically, was it as violent as Total Recall? (not Arnold but he has also seen Point Break and Pan’s Labyrinth, which he was fine with)
and don’t google it for reasons that will become pretty obvious by the end.

it’s a movie that explains nothing. usually i like this kind of movie, but for a film like this, it really should have explained it as the concept did not work with this kind of writing.
If you’ve seen it, skip this part.
the film is about this couple (including Jesse eisenberg) who looks for a new home. they check out a suburban neighborhood, only to find out it is a disturbing maze they cannot escape from. eventually, they find a child on their doorstep and are sled to raise it if they ever want to get out of there.
Spoiler alert: the child rapidly grows up into a bizarre humanoid alien and they both die. While i don’t Mind a sad ending, the film was just too pointless to have one. I watched this when i was feeling ill, which made the experience even. fucking. worse.
overall, 0.1/10, worse than seven women and a murder.
the reason for me saying that was that people have commented on hundreds of posts on various subs without reading the description. one time someone made a post with the title “recommend me some horror movies” and the description said they didn’t like gore, graphic sex, and didn’t like the style of horror in most popular modern films. one person commented with just a bunch of modern, popular, gory, sexual films. i do not want this.
i don’t check my email much, and someone has sent literally thousands of emails to me. it’s obviously spam, but it’s not gone in junk. i blocked them. because i don’t want anymore shit, googled it and the only results are for how to get rid of them when you blocked the seller before they mass-messaged you, not after. please, there’s way too many to cope with
was going to watch tenet but noticed it said 2h 23m whereas the official runtime is 2h 30m.
checked images of the back of the uk dvd which shows it’s longer on there, so it can’t be because of the pal format.
edit: stop commenting, it’s an error. when you watch it it shows the correct runtime, so u/area51_spurs can go F themselves.
i understand it’s not as good as some of her other books, but that’s because it’s not supposed to be. people complain about the “inconsistent“ writing style. no shut Sherlock, it’s a bunch of short stories intertwined into one big one. I never see these complaints for the other connected short story collections like the labours of herrcules. To be honest, i think people just hate on it for no reason. Does anyone share these or similar views?
