Cloumonster 3 Hyper for $15.

Cloumonster 3 Hyper for $15.

I had a credit for $205 after I bought a pair of leaky Cloud 6’s so I decided to grab these after wearing my new Cloudrunners for awhile.

I’m new to running and plan on some short runs this weekend. Does anyone have any experience with these with a slight over pronation ?

These look great and feel good while walking around.

Thoughts on this motor for the FCX24 Unimog

I’m ordering parts for my long delayed Unimog build and I this is a good motor option. Has anyone had experience with one in a trail or crawling rig ?

I also think the transmission needs to be swapped and only see the trx4m listed with this motor.

Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.

FCX18 to FCX24 compatibility

FCX18 photo for show, but I am planning on swapping the brushless out runner system from my LC80 into my FCX24 Unimog and wanted to see if anyone has encountered any issues in the process.

I do see the parts between the platform are interchangeable and plan to use the tires, shocks and axles from the LC80 as spares.

I am thinking the wiring of the Unimog may be plug and play for the Outrunner motor and placement should be in the same location. I would also use the receiver from the LC80. My other issue is whether the two speed transmission would also swap into the Mog. I do not see any adequate aftermarket transmission options for FMS trucks.

Performance of the Unimog would be greatly improved and with some down low weight and some good tires, I’d have a good trail rig. Doing some research on this seems pretty straightforward. Does anyone have some pointers or tips for me?

I have the wooden flatbed ordered for the Unimog as well as some better wheels. I have the FairRC black mod.

My LC80 was ran twice before having power cutoff issues. I actually got a replacement esc from FairRC and then realized the issue is in the wiring. I’ve been through the truck as well as the tech at my local shop and it’s very poor quality wiring and still cut on and off with the new esc. That’s how I came up with the idea.

Any tips or knowledge would be helpful, I know the FMS aftermarket is lacking and rather than have this thing broken up on the shelf, I’d rather use the parts from it to build another truck.

FCX18 Brushless in an FCX24

I am currently thinking of stripping down the LC80 for parts and using the brushless system in my FCX24 Unimog. The truck is dead, parts are non existent so I want to salvage what parts I can. I’ve been through two Eac’s and now the truck is dead due to wiring.

This truck failed on me on the first run on the first battery and then again after intermittent power issues. I found out the motor was good and Fair RC sent me a new ESC after months of trying to find parts and aftermarket support.

I’ve lost interest in getting it running and had no interest in a sales ad so I am thinking of swapping the motor into the Mog.

Does anyone know if this will work as the two platforms seem to be interchangeable?

I am thinking I would use the LC80 controller with the motor in the Unimog.

Also, would I be able to use the LC80 axles with the Unimog? The mog runs well in stock form and I think the FMS 24’s are more durable than the 18’s.

I appreciate any input. Thanks.

Crawler Course at Crusin’ With RC’s in NJ

I went to Cruzin With RC’s to get some batteries and checked out their crawler course in the level below. They have a drift and carpeted course as well. If you are in Northern NJ, check them out in Waldwick.

I will run my Vanquish on the rocks if allowed, but it looks great for the 18 and 24 scale. I’m building an Scx24 and would run my stock for now Redcat Apex there.

On Cloud Not So Waterproof

I’m glad I found this sub and I hope I can get some opinions. I bought these Cloud Waterproof shoes about two weeks ago. I haven’t worn them until today when it rained.

I wore them to work and from the office to the car, about two blocks in an average rain storm, the water started to penetrate the mesh on the top of the shoe.

I was disappointed mainly because they are my first and now last pair of this brand and for the price I thought this was more of a marketing scam on their part. So I got to the car and after several dead end attempts to set up an account, I found the customer service number here on Reddit. The guy was nice and told me they should withstand every day rain and it wasn’t just marketing. He told me to file a warranty claim and they will get back to me in 48 hours. I’ve been trying to set up yet another account to do this and the site won’t let me.

Has anyone had experience with their warranty department or am I better off getting a refund? My girlfriend told me that Scetchers makes a copy of this shoe as they copy most and it’s $80 are these shoes worth the hype or did I get a bad pair?

Below is a pic of the shoes 30 minutes after coming into the garage and still very wet. They are dry now and I just wanted to get some opinions. Thanks

Second failed buy from FMS and Fair RC.

I reluctantly took a chance on my second Fair RC purchase in three months and again opened the box and was disappointed.

I bought the Unimog to expand my collection after buying a Fair RC LC80 that lasted a day before permanently breaking.

I just opened the box and saw one of the side lights missing from the truck and they shipped it with no battery.

I know the customer service is dismal and non existent for both companies as I have recent experience but I want to know if anyone has ever just returned a truck to Fair RC and requested a refund in the past ? I tried to this with my LC80 and it’s now a paperweight because they just don’t honor their warranty.

Sorry for the venting, but this is just unacceptable.

Brand new Apex delivered with a DOA Battery and a new RWD option.

Bough this as a gift for a teenager and was about to get myself one but after ordering a battery off eBay because the one in the box was DOA, we plugged it in and under a minute later realized it’s RWD. The front driveshaft is missing.

This thing is hyped all over the web,has anyone had experience with the company? I filled out a warranty claim and will wait for them to reply. I had high hopes for it but I see quality control isn’t the best.

The young owner has lost interest in it since we have these problems and I don’t blame him. I’m thinking of just returning it and sticking with my 1/10 scales. This was my first real 1/18 crawler after buying an FCX18 which is now a paperweight due to lack of parts.

Please share any thoughts, thanks.

JConcept tire question

I have been trying and not succeeding to mount JConcept Lamdmine 1.0 tires to a set of both OGRC and TiTS wheels and they seem to be too wide. I talked to the owner of TiTS via email since I ordered the tires and wheels from him and he said he tried to make the wheels the easiest to work with.

Do I abandon JConcept tires and just go with Indora? I’ve accepted the tires are too wide to mount despite wanting to try them out.

Any advice would be great. I’m about to just get a mounted Pro Line combo off Amazon and save myself the frustration. I’ll just toss the other wheels in a drawer for another day. Thanks.

First run with the SCX30 and it’s insanely entertaining.

I walked into the shop for 2.2 tires and walked out with the SCX30 as an impulse buy. These are pics from my first run on a local hiking trail with some good rocks.

It earned its first body scratches and ended up on the roof a few times. I was amazed at how well this little guy climbed in stock form. I already own an Scx24 and can see why people love these trucks. I am picking up some brass wheels and shocks as my first mods and moving on from there. The black body is great and looks good now that it’s weathered.

The shocks seem decent and I may run them with the new wheels just to see how they work. Steering knuckles, wheels and good tires will make this a good rig. I’ll add the mods and return to the washed out drainage ditch to test some more

Can anyone tell me why these tires do not lock into these wheels ?

The tires are Landmines and the wheels are 1.0 OGRC brass wagon wheels. I cannot get the front of the tire to lock into the c wheel to save my life. The tires always pull out in the front.

Maybe I chose the wrong wheels and the inserts are too wide for the tires or I should just mount the tires without the brass , who knows. I saw a few people here run this combo and my carpal tunnel does not let me work on this small scale for very long.

Any advice would be great. Thanks.

First Run with the Optic Sparco V2.

This is my first serious RC since the gas TMaxx and before that, the Tamiya Hornet in the ‘80s.

I took it to a local trail for some climbing and it ate up almost everything it came across. The experience is well worth the price and you’ll see battle scars on the roof and hood. I know scratches are unavoidable and this isn’t a backyard basher, but it’s insane in its capabilities.

The axles work great over roots and rocks and it handles itself great over larger rocks.

There are some scratches on the skid plate and I’m happy it’s built to take some punishment. The material seems to hold up well.

I’m running a 3s and lost the hood pin on the ground before it even moved. I’ll roll with the body pin upside down as it hasn’t moved anyway.

I’m going to look at body panels now that are direct fit. I’m not a fan of drilling and cutting and see how easily this thing scratches.

I think the first and one of the few mods will be aluminum wheels and tires. My local hobby shop carries these big tires.

Any input about body panels and whether or not to ditch the body pin is welcome. I read here most people flip the plastic stick and forget the pin.

First 1/24 after buying a 1/18 and I’m hooked.

I’m back in the RC hobby after a long break and a still broken gas powered T Maxx

I bought a FairRC 1/18 FCX18S LC80 and got into crawling a month ago. I was debating between the two trucks and now bought this little rig today for $150 bones. My FCX18 lasted a day before the servo saver broke, but I was hooked.

I had a free day and picked this up. It’s bone stock and I had no idea how capable this little guy is. No brass, foam and stock tires and it did well over some good size rocks on the local trails. I do like the 50/75/100 power options and will add tires and weighted wheels.

I’m waiting for the parts for the LC80 and wanted to see what people are running for motors and servos.

I think I’ll eventually upgrade the brushed motor and servo.

I’m thinking mot all of my rigs need to be brushless and would look for a good direct fit motor. I’d also like to widen the stance a bit too.

This truck was great and performs well over rocks and rough terrain. I’m now all in on the 124 scale and glad I went the Scx24 route. I can see having two of these rigs for trail and rocks.

I never really worked on or modded my own RCs besides bodies, tires, etc so this will be fun for me.

Second run with the new 1/18 and lost steering.

I’m very disappointed. I ran this on a local hiking trail with barely anything to crawl or climb. After moving over some rocks, the steering was gone and the servo arm was hanging and broken.

Does anyone have a simple fix for this or know of the part and how to go about getting it? I’m thinking this scale just isn’t for me and the 1/10 scales are more stout. I thought this rig would have at least lasted the first moth of ownership without an issue. Maybe im too demanding of the electronics or something. Thanks in advance.

1/18 FC80 first run was a success.

My RC history began with a Tamiya Hornet in the 80s and a gas powered buggy called the Hunter after that. Sometime 15 years ago, I had a T Maxx that I sold.

I liked the LC80 and wanted to try a mini crawler out and saw this one from FairRC. The brushless motor and weighted wheels sold me. I ran it on a single track trail and was surprised by its climbing capability. It also handled a small creek crossing and some minor mud. I removed the rear wheel and stock bumper before running it from seeing vids on YouTube about the weight of the rear wheel and more clearance from the 3D printed bumper. I’ll probably leave the roof rack unloaded as the rig has a tendency to tip.

I am definitely going back to a 1/10 scale eventually but like the size of this rig and its flex in the rocks.

I plan on modding the shocks for more flex and experimenting with different tires as second gear really brings this rig alive

BMW Conversion 2000 Calculator

I found tugs during a move. It’s a vintage BMW Group Technical Training "Conversion 2000" calculator with its protective hard case.

This device, branded for BMW Technical Training, features specialized buttons for immediate conversion of volume, weight, length, area, and temperature

It is functionally similar to the 1-Step Metric Pro calculator, model 6258B, which is designed for over 350 different unit conversions

These calculators were often used for automotive work to switch between metric and imperial measurements, such as converting bar to P.S.I. or Nm to Ft/lb

A deeper search included some additional information.

Key Features

Custom Branding: Features a slide-on protective shell custom-printed with "BMW Group Technical Training" and an additional quick-reference automotive formula guide printed on the face.

Over 350 Conversions: Instantly converts standard imperial/U.S. units to metric counterparts and vice versa.

Dedicated Layout: The right side features a color-coded grid of single-press buttons organized by categories like Volume, Weight, Length, Area, Temperature, and Cubic measurements.
