This is the first midterm I've been eligible to vote for, and I'm eager to join in - however, I will have to be out of the country to care for my sick father.

Ballot voting seems to be up in the air at the moment and I can't guarantee that I would get my vote back in time. I don't have a lot of cash so I don't want to fly back just to vote (not to mention, my dad's immune system is compromised, so I want to limit air travel).

So what I want to find out is who's actually up for election for me in the midterm. If it's like, a comptroller or something, I'll give it a miss. If it's a major position I'll look into making it happen somehow.

Is there a list of these things? I tried Vote411, but it didn't have any information for my zip code. Or will that info come up soon?

I've only just completed my first playthrough of Road 96, so I might have missed something, but this seemed odd...

(If anyone is wondering, here's what happened with the other characters: Mama Bear, Papa Bear and Baby Bear all chilled out and ran to the next country with my last teen and were seen sleeping on the road in a camper fan; Zoe was shot, seemingly dead, by Tyrak's men; Sonya reported on the event with Stan and Mitch cheering her on and later went on holiday with them.)

In this sentence, Smith actually wrote that careful research is the first step, and this rule has not expired at the time of my writing, so this makes more sense:

Making two terrible things somehow worse.

And 106 hours of playtime. Though not entirely fairly.

I'll be honest, my hitherto boundless enthusiasm for the game evaporated a little bit when I found out that I'd need to draft room after room to accumulate the Blue Memos. I hadn't been bothered by the RNG up to that point (the various tools I'd found had helped me finesse it to perfection for my needs), but that became such a chore that I just looked up which ones were essential online.

I also cheated a bit to find out where to look for the angels' names, because I hadn't taken those notes and the thought of scouring absolutely every room from scratch to piece it all together made me want to cry.

And when I got into the Atelier and discovered I'd have to do a billion Mora Jai boxes, I just gave up entirely and looked up the solution to both them and the subsequent route.

But I reckon that's fine, really. That final part is clearly for the hardcore puzzlers and people who love Mora Jai boxes (ugh!); I am neither. And I'd rather see the "true" ending, as underwhelming as it is, than just sack the game off - even though I think just dropping out at any of the other endings (Room 46, Throne of the Blue Prince, parlour puzzle) is also totally fine.

But anyone who genuinely figured out the whole thing from beginning to end with no outside help has my overwhelming admiration (and mild fear).

Anyway, best game ever. At least, until Dirigiblocks releases.

My dad is going to undergo chemotherapy in a month or so, and I (US resident, dual UK-US citizen) want to go back for the duration to help out him and my mum.

Thankfully I can work from abroad, and my company is fine with it. But I don't know what tax issues this may create. It's unclear how long his chemo will take, but it can run to 6-8 months, from what I understand.

Presumably I'll be on the hook for UK taxes if I'm in the UK for a certain period, but I'm not sure how long that period is, how I would pay it, how much it's likely to be, or even how they would know.

...I really have no idea what to expect, in terms of when it would be best to be there, and what would be most useful.

He's got Stage IV prostate cancer - it's spread to his bones, but the doctors are talking about using a particular kind of chemo (don't know which kind, but it's for his specific situation) to knock it into remission. The course should start in 4-5 weeks, and in the meantime he's on hormone therapy to strangle the prostate cancer. He's in his early 70s and is otherwise fit and active (relative to an old British man). My mother is quite frail, so is limited in how much she can help him.

I'm lucky in that I work from home full time, and my boss has been incredibly understanding and has said I can work from the UK for an extended period (I'm a dual US citizen, so no worries about returning), so I plan to go back for as long as possible to help out. My sister lives close to my parents, but she's got kids and I don't want her run ragged dealing with my mum and dad (who are like big kids themselves these days) full time.

I don't yet know exactly when the chemo will begin, or what kind it is, what the schedule for it is or how long it's projected to go on for. I know the answers to these questions will help, but I don't have them yet.

So I guess my questions are:

1. If the chemo treatment is to go on longer than I'm able to stay there, would it be better to go later in the course or at the start? Or maybe split it so I'm there at the beginning and at the end?
2. I'll probably be staying at my parents' place. I'm picturing him vomiting and being quite weak, and I expect to help with that, but is that a 24/7 thing, or does it come and go?
3. He's quite a proud man, and is trying to keep a stiff upper lip; I can imagine this clashing somewhat with his physical issues. Although he has also seemed quite realistic about the conditions in our phone calls. Anyone have experience in negotiating this?
4. For those who've looked after parents going through chemo, what sort of things did you help them with? I'm expecting to be doing a lot of shopping, cooking (although his appetite will come and go, I expect), cleaning up (possibly vomit and other messes), driving him around and so on - what other things should I expect to do? Are there any things that aren't obvious?
5. What other things did you experience as a family member of someone going through chemo, and what advice do you have?

I'm just a bit adrift at the moment, so basically any insights you can give me would be super appreciated, thank you!
