Need a rental realtor for UA family

Hello, we're looking for a rental realtor to find a rental two-bedroom apartment around Aalborg or Norresundby for my family. The family doesn't speak English or Danish very well they both have jobs and we can translate for them,

The rental market is usually pretty tough for foreigners so we found it easier to go through realtor in Poland in the past

Why is the move-in price for an apartment absolutely insane?

The moving price here is 40 times higher than rent

It should only be like 2 months plus deposit, 1/10 of this price, like anywhere else

Is this BoligPortal just a scam app? Is there a better place to look for apartments?

edit I am looking via boligportal, this price does seem it's like 10 times higher, but even most of them are in the 20K range, is that fair for a two bedroom apartment or what price should it be for the deposit?

and how likely are you going to get it back?

2000 sienna power door glitches

The power door started glitching, for a while the power door button would only open it and not close and when I try to close it it would automatically open itself. I basically have to use the power door off switch, but it's still difficult to close the door manually.

What is the best solution for this? Is it possible to fix this electrically or do I need to detach the motor and the gearing so I could just operate it manually?

Is it true that functions like max() and min() have extra overhead?

I'm reading this section on learncpp.com on inline functions. it says "When a call to min() is encountered, the CPU must store the address of the current instruction it is executing (so it knows where to return to later) along with the values of various CPU registers (so they can be restored upon returning). Then parameters x and y must be instantiated and then initialized. Then the execution path has to jump to the code in the min() function. When the function ends, the program has to jump back to the location of the function call, and the return value has to be copied so it can be output. This has to be done for each function call.
All of the extra work that must happen to setup, facilitate, and/or cleanup after some task (in this case, making a function call) is called overhead."

I understand this is true for user functions, but for basic math.h functions and anything built into the standard library, aren't these optimized by the compiler to be as fast as possible? Is learncpp wrong on this?

Minimum tire clearance on road ike conversion

I'm trying to convert a 2013 Cannondale synaps to gravel bike, at the current tires are 25 mm, I measured a minimum of 5 mm spacing between the tire and the frame, but the tech specs has 28 mm as the maximum tire size for the bike, can I unreasonably go up to 32 mm or is that going to cause problems? Will it eat into the fork. What's the absolute minimum measurement I need to make. I'm planning on using the stock rims too.

Is Zezwolenie na Pobyt Czasowy needed for Ukranians

I'm a bit confused between all of the different work contracts

if they are able to get a job in Poland with a Umowa zlecenie contract.

Do they actually need the Zezwolenie na Pobyt Czasowy or are Ukrainians excempt from needing it? I understand you need this in order to even get a job, but the employers all say they can just sign the UZ contract first and start working. Is that true?

if the UZ contract ends, I believe they have up to 30 days to find a new job. If there is an issue and they cannot get another UZ contract, we they continue to pay for their apartment and expenses, that's not an issue. Will living without a UZ for a few weeks be a violation of the law? Wil it put them at risk of living in Poland illegally? Or if it takes them longer than 30 days to find a job, will it be ok? I know there are plenty of factory jobs available in emergency that will sign a UZ contract

edit. Obviously this is a sensitive subject so please answer only if you have knowledge about Polish law. I get enough anti Ukrainian comments on here than I have tolerance for and won't be nice about it

All the BMX parks and dirt jump tracks around my area are pretty flat so I'm always having trouble getting enough speed for the A and B lines.

Are the full suspension mid drive mountain bikes a good way to solve this problem? Or are the motors just not built to handle that?

I'm assuming hardtails would be even worse on the motor and the bearings overtime

If so, which bikes are you using at the park?

How long does Umowa zlecenie stay active?

If you are not from EU, and you sign Umowa zlecenie which I'm assuming is in the form of a contract between you and the employer, how long is it supposed to last?

Can you request to sign in for the entire year if you were trying to rent an apartment for the same year?

Does this mean that employer is obligated to keep you employed at the same pay rates for the whole year?

Or are you at the mercy of the employer to terminate or not renew it at any time?

And if they do, how long do you have to find a different position, a week, a month?

Also are you allowed to leave the country for a week or two with Umowa zlecenie ?

Thanks for the information

If the employer in Poland is offering umowa zlecenie. And you want to rent an apartment. How long is this umowa given for? The apartment rental is 1 year, can the umowa expire earlier and then do you have to leave if the employer doesnt want to update it or you switch employers? what protection do you have if you are paying rent and if money is not an issue, just the work permit?

Is the Zezwolenie na Pobyt Czasowy better in this case? Does this last at least a year?

are they like different visa types?

Or can you get Zezwolenie na Pobyt Czasowy after getting umowa zlecenie, and have them together?

I was informed that you can get a pesel if you're renting an apartment, or if you're currently employed at a Polish business. for a non-UE citizen

For someone who is moving here for a job and a temporary residence permit, and is looking for an apartment. The job is taking a couple weeks to get all the documents prepared.

If they can manage to rent an apartment first, is it correct that they can just get a pesel number by having the residence address?

I already know that most people won't rent without a pesel number but this is in case they find someone who is willing to rent to them. they already know the rental process,

Thanks

Every time someone gives me an address it's in this format Ul.xxxxxx 19/1

When I try to type that into Bolt it either shows a different city completely or takes me to another part of town

So I now have to ask them for an exact gps location on maps and have Bolt take me to a nearby business.

But on the map it will show up as something like
Xxxxxx 19, 70-134 city, Poland

Either way I can't risk it anymore I always just use the map to go to a location I can't trust street addresses anymore.

what is the /1 for?

Ffs please stop posting requests for 90s mountain bikes that cost less than the Uber ride to the hospital once that handlebar loops out or the v brakes fail

I consider this is the bare minimum mountain bike you can get.

https://www.specialized.com/us/en/pitch-275/p/171052?color=263491-171052

you don't need to be rich, You can find one used for $100-200. same price or a little more than the rusty marketplace bikes with seized forks if you look around well enough

I have one. It works just fine. I take it to BMX parks, road trips, and leave it on the bike rack for days. I also have bikes that cost many times as much, but I use this one 90% of the time because it's easy to take anywhere

It is not very upgradeable, the spring fork is heavy, I wouldn't waste any effort on putting new parts on it. since it has QR axles. But at least it has hydraulic brakes and the specialized brand behind it, and won't break on you easily. and it will stop when you are flying down a hill

Try to find one without a front derailleur, but it's not the end of the world. Or try to find another brand bike that looks like this.

I also had the wallmart ridge, which is cheaper, but it's a complete pos and that bike hasn't lasted 10% as long as this one. literally everything on it broke or bent eventually. the specialized bike is just made with higher quality materials. (for the exception of the specialized kids bikes, they're are also crap) So I advise against using Walmart bikes at all

please feel free to share any other brand bikes that are the same price range

u/InfluenceEfficient77 — 16 days ago

I'm looking at some of these, and they have financing options, and the website is looking more like a car dealership

https://www.specialized.com/us/en/shop/bikes/electric-bikes/electric-mountain-bikes/turbo-levo

Is it more common with e-bikes than regular bikes even if they're in the same price range.

I'm assuming people generally just buy regular bikes outright, maybe with credit they don't have money to pay off right away. But are people straight up financing electric bikes now, like with a 5 year payment plan, since they're the price that cars used to be?

Is that a reasonable explanation to why I'm seeing more and more groups of blue collar type dudes with beer guts chugging cans while plowing up trails on a $5-10k emtb? not hating on that, live your best life, but it's pretty obvious they didn't get that bike because they exceeded the performance gap of a lesser model, most of the time

or is it just because of the commute to work programs that pay for the bikes

also I'm not sure if everyone want to seeing the 0% APR ads below each bike maybe they're just preying on me and I'm the blue collar fat ebiker

Walking around towns I'm seeing people are just selling random stuff out of garages, little metal shacks, abandoned looking buildings, Even what looks like a dumpster a few times. Are these businesses licensed? Or do people just set up shop anywhere they want to and the police look the other way?

while there's lots of this in EU in tourist areas but they're usually illegal vendors or scams and they bail whenever the cops show up. but these shops look semi legitimate with signs and everything. or are there plenty of scams as well? it is recommended to only use cash with these businesses? should I be concerned about counterfeit currency?

My team, that is mostly offshore in India, does not know how to use data structures lol

Like we'll get a Json structure, for example a user profile, from the database. And instead of building a profile object with all of the data as separate member variables in that structure, they instead repackage it as an array of other variables which they pass on to other functions which then repackage it again and again and again

The problem is they also keep renaming the variables as it goes from function to function, so at the very end, when we have to display something in a form it will be in the format of something like

Display(profile?.user_id? || Profile?.useriD? || Profile.profileID? || Etc etc)

And they do this with literally all types of structures in the code so it very quickly becomes a confusing mess.

As a C++ developer being dropped on this team, this is driving me nuts, I know that JavaScript doesn't have implicit type checking. I'm not a react developer, I use a fair amount of co-pilot but I know how to format my code and structure it correctly so it's readable.

My question is: is there a specific reason why they might be doing this, is it faster to not pass around the entire profile object, isn't it going to be passed by reference anyway, and therefore passing it is an array would just be making duplicated copies of data?

or Is this just AI slop and they're not even checking their code?

maybe is this done for some kind of security by onscurity reasons?

Would using typescript have solved the problem in some way, I joined the team to late to make that call and they seem to be just using JavaScript react for everything.

I'm mostly just preparing my arguments for later in the day today for needing this mess to be fixed.

But I'm concerned that they just going to overwrite the code and break everything again the next time they want to add a button in figma. they already erased all my code changes the last time they did a commit. this was after a week of passing around a zip file with all the code for like 15 different Jira tasks combined together, because apparently was too hard to resolve the merge conflicts with like 5000 lines of AI Gen code changes.

Like it takes me a week to try to explain something and I still get the same questions over and over, I know there's a language barrier, but god damn, the language barrier is even there in the code, It's like it was written by autistic people for autistic people, do I just give up on trying to explain what passing by reference means and just make my code unreadable too?

Need something simple, like an app I can install on an iphone and pay for a plan that will handle all of the configuration.

What is a good app/service that works in Poland?

Something cheap that has a good data and phone plan and roaming in E

Thanks

I'm trying to get this as a gift, I can see there some that are very expensive and some are very cheap, what do people normally use? I can't tell apart the brands.

Are they significantly different in terms of how bad they are for you or just taste?

Is it still better than cigarettes? I'm trying to get it for someone who smokes cigarettes. So they can be at least making their own and spending less

I'm assuming it's like water, you can get cheap tap water or douchy artesian water for 10 euros, the health impact difference is very minimal right? or is the cheap rolling tobacco still full of additives? I can see why cigarette companies add that shit to keep people addicted to their brands, does rolling tobacco have them too? I personally feel horrible the next day after a cigarette, but I can smoke like 10 handrolls and still be fine.

I was informed by someone with a paralegal background that under the new March 5 laws, that business owners who have Ukrainian and not Polish citizenship are not going to be able to hire other Ukrainians. Is this true or is it just speculation? I couldn't find any information on this

Ai response is The premise that Polish law prohibits hiring Ukrainians after March 5, 2026, is incorrect.  On March 5, 2026, the "extinction law" entered into force, ending the special temporary protection regime but not banning employment.  Instead, it transitioned Ukrainian citizens into Poland’s mainstream immigration and labor frameworks, maintaining the right to work under specific conditions.

For Ukrainians holding PESEL-UKR status (temporary protection), the simplified employment procedure remains available.  Employers must notify the district labor office via the praca.gov.pl portal within 7 days of starting work, and social security contributions are due from day one.  This status is generally secured until at least March 4, 2027, allowing continued legal employment without a separate work permit for this group.

If you have some legal background can you provide somewhere insight?

edit. I did read the law or at least the English interpretation of it I didn't find any references to this except for the seven day period where the employer has to declare it. maybe I didn't read the whole law, maybe I didn't get the right translation, maybe there's a high potential for government employees to reject the applicant even if everything is done legally by the employer and the employee, and this is why the paralegal person said this is going to be a problem
