I DID IT!!!

After two weeks of watching two episodes daily (as that’s all the time I had per day), I have FINALLY finished the first two seasons of Twin Peaks!!

They were both just as good as I knew they would be; the aesthetics and atmospheres in the first season was so pleasing and even warm at times, while the horror elements in season 2 were executed **brilliantly**.

I plan on watching Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me really soon, maybe even tonight. But in the meantime as a means to celebrate this long-awaited personal achievement, I shall fetch myself a cup of strong black coffee, a slice of cherry pie, and then wait another 25 years before watching season 3 :D

Anyways, I just wanted to express my excitement to y’all. I wish you a brilliant rest of your week 👍🏽

I’ve been getting a little more into Western films.

Any recs (and reasons why I might like them in particular) would be greatly appreciated, as I haven’t seen that many westerns quite yet. I enjoy many film genres, but I’m typically drawn to films with an experimental and/or psychological edge the most if that helps.

Currently, I also have Lonesome Cowboys (1968), The Good The Bad And The Ugly (1966), and The Wild Bunch (1969) on my watchlist.

Permanently banned from r/notinteresting, but not necessarily because of what I posted or commented on the sub.

Basically, I made this one post on the sub that was essentially following a trend that was invading the sub at the time (and it also became my most popular post I ever made with 7.1K upvotes). But then less than 24 hours after I posted that, I saw that it was removed by the mods without any reasoning mentioned.

So I sent a mod mail asking why it got removed, but after a few days, I got no response. Then after I made another post similar to the previous post I mentioned to see if perhaps it was a mistake of some sort, that also got removed for reasons not mentioned. So I sent a mod mail asking “why?” for they post too, but no response back. I had already read the rules of the sub prior to making those posts, so I already knew they didn’t break any rules.

I guess I got a bit frustrated, so it basically culminated in me sending a mod mail asking “Why don’t you answer your mod mails? Is this why you need more mods?” (as I noticed that they had mod applications open for their sub).

I didn’t really pay much attention to it afterwards, but just today, which would’ve been a few days after I sent that last mod mail, I got two separate messages; one saying I’ve been perma-banned from r/notinteresting, and another saying I’ve been permanently muted from messaging the mods. That was really it, they never did explain anything else extra, it was just Reddit automated messaging that I received. This is also the first time any of this stuff has happened to me on the sub; I’ve had no prior bans or mutes over there.

Of course I did (and still do) feel really bad about it, because I have a feeling it’s because of me basically screaming out into the presumably empty void that caused my ban. r/notinteresting was one of if not my MOST favorite place to go on Reddit, but now I can’t anymore. And it sucks a lot. And if I wasn’t muted, I would send an apology to the mods in a heartbeat.

Anyways, I am sure I’ll get over it as it’s *just* one subreddit after all, there’s plenty other places I can go besides there. Just felt like writing it out as writing out my feelings and what happened also helps make me feel better.

Have nice day y’all!

Mel Brooks turns 100 years old today!

For those who don’t know:

After seeing the script for a movie idea and watching David Lynch’s debut feature film Eraserhead (1977), Brooks brought in Lynch to direct his next feature film under his production company, Brooksfilms, who would also help finance the film.

This would then result in the creation of Lynch’s 1980 biopic, The Elephant Man.

—————————

"Eraserhead made me feel he could handle melancholy and freaks and could use black and white film […] We want Elephant Man in black and white to minimise the horrific deformity and also to help us capture the feel of Victorian England." - Mel Brooks (circa 1979)

Happy 100th birthday to Mel Brooks!

Young Frankenstein (1974) is by far one of my favorite comedies of all-time. What a legend.

What’s your favorite movie of his (if you have one)?
