Heard on the radio that the invertebrate blashkas are at corning now? Are these the ones that were displayed at corson-mudd or are these different specimens? If from corson-mudd, anyone know when they moved?

I've heard so much about this idea of "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps" and all that. But? I don't really know anybody so far that bought their house entirely by themselves. The parents pay for the college or the parents pay for the house or they got some big break or whatever.

I will try to keep on reading them. so far, it appears that anyone that afforded something in our generation either bought around the 08 crash, bought around the pandemic, or got a VA or first time home buyer loan. there are a few people that are telling me that they worked enough for a down payment but they are honestly few and far between on the first 76 comments that I read. let's see if it changed significantly as I keep on scrolling down.

does Reddit skew extremely military? I was very taken aback by the amount of VA loans I saw on the thread.

Looking for remote work. I'm neurodivergent and had a nasty marriage that sent my experience back ten years.

Things I can do:

-neurobio/neuropharma, particularly psych. I legalized cannabis in CO back in the green rush. I helped write patents.

-med record analysis. I wrote briefs for SSDI cases.

-translation. Strong on humanities and art history. In Spanish and English. I can try my hand on French and Portuguese.

-music lessons or writing music for you. I'm writing my sixth album.

I'm too tired to even know which of these I should focus on. I had funding lined up and it's gone and I signed the contract yesterday. My other streams are tapped out. Any help appreciated- either advice or actual work to be completed.

Independence Day for Mexico and 16 other Latin American countries is celebrated September 16th. I've been over in the east coast for about 20 years and I have been requesting for the last 10 or so that we are not performative assholes and actually celebrate independence on the day of instead of just accommodating everybody else's schedules.

Is there an actual independencia celebration happening the day of this year or is everyone more interested in school starting? I want to know if I have to organize it myself again

Marty Nadler, a producer, sitcom writer and stand-up comedian, who worked on “Happy Days,” “Laverne and Shirley” and “The Odd Couple,” died in Margate, Florida, on Aug. 26. He was 80. His son, Charlie Nadler, said he died due to complications from myasthenia gravis.

Born in the Bronx in 1945, Nadler eventually switched coasts to pursue a career in comedy. He discovered his passion for stand-up as a theater major at Ithaca College. He established a close personal and professional relationship with director Gary Marshall, and contributed jokes to nine of Marshall’s movies, including “Pretty Woman,” “Runaway Bride” and “Mother’s Day.” Marshall considered Nadler his good luck charm, and gave him on-screen cameo roles in each of those movies. 

In 1976 when Nadler was writing for “Laverne and Shirley,” he met a new writer named Holly Mascott who met with him at Paramount to pitch story ideas. She eventually became Nadler’s wife. They married on Martha’s Vineyard in 1978, and bought a home there in 1984, where their only child, Charlie, was born.

This really is not about shading the festival it really isn't. But I'm reading that Olivia gave 10 million and that Melinda Gates matched it. And I am reading that Lilith Fair raced around 10 million when it was running. But this is what I'm kind of weirded out by. The 10 million at Lilith were raised by tickets and patrons. The 10 million at the festival were donated by Olivia the day it was happening.

I'm just curious about the money that was raised by the people that went to the festival rather than the one that was donated by the festival organizers? Don't get me wrong the donation is massive and I am super thankful to. But I'm having a hard time figuring out how much was raised and I would assume that we don't get that number until later, but you know? Anybody got information on that part of the festival?

The way Marxism is debated in an economic way versus a social vs political vs even literary theory way is very different. A leftist from latin América is quite different from an American democrat. The word fascist, particularly, is being thrown around left and right and it doesn't seem to mean the same.

In a world where the media is bought and Wikipedia is volunteer run, is wiki our final authority? If not, what? Journals are inaccessible. What are your sources, and what authority do they have?

And I start off by clarifying that I have no issues if that is the case. I kind of saw the writings on the wall since Gaga and it makes sense to me. I'm just wondering if there is a manosphere adjacent club scene I am unaware of as I am looking at the pole dancers on my clubs. Country boys just not have clubs anymore? But if you wanted to be a job you have to treat it like a job. You do not show up to the street as your stage if you don't have something Stage ready to play. You do not show up with a drink or water or a cigarette or a vape if you're performing. You show up with a sign and a tip jar that is clearly showing what you're doing. You are dressed like a performer, whatever that means to you. And that doesn't mean you have to wear expensive clothes, but there's something in your demeanor that shows that you're not just chilling on the street you know.

You respect the other performances around you. You do not hog stage time. You respect the police officers in the street around you and do not skip over the rules they have made for you. You do not use curse words and your performances are kid-friendly, and if they are not there is a sign that says so.

I personally limit performances to 2 hours max. I find I do not get more tips after this time anyway. Helps me keep myself in check in terms of time and makes it feel like a concerted effort at making money instead of losing time on the street.
