My thought/question on Totoro (20 years later.)

Have watched this movie so many times as a child- and now with my own children, and having lost my own father to heart failure as a boy, im feeling a weird melancholy.

Do you think that Totoro is a visual represenation of the imaginative mind of a child and how trauma and grief can create mental wonderlands to escape true loss and sorrow?

Sons first day in K, and I get a call he's "missing." Thankfully, they were in error.

Mom dropped him off this morning for his first day of K. Tk was wonderful. We loved and bonded with the insanely talented team.

Today- after dropping off my other kiddos, i get a call from my non verbal, stage 3 disabled (risk of eloping.) son's school to remind me "they would love to see him in there class, if we were still interested."

My heart stopped.

I said, "Mam, he was delivered this morning with confirmation." And proceeded to profile him for her.

She said she would call right back.

My heart was beating out of my chest.

Minutes go by. My heart.

Then the phone rings.

"oh!" "We didnt realize he responds to his nickname, vs. His much longer "full." Name. "He's right here!"

Had to vent. Life is harder than need be sometimes.

Thank you gents for your glove suggestions.

It was hard to adjust, but 100% worth it. Worked the 30 today a bit at the range.

I was able to meet bump into a 75 year old local range master who has been trad shooting for 52 years, he helped me with my Mediterranean form and finger draw technique. He was also stoked to see me working a traditional bow.

The man said "let's see your bow", then proceeded to send a 65 yard bully first draw. Was incredibly cool to be humbled so quickly.

Working my way towards our local western classic shoot.
