Your Fav Vintage/Retro Boarding School Horrors?

I know Suspiria, The Devils Backbone, Phenomena and Aenigma off the top of my head. So, something that isn’t them.

Preferably a girls boarding school for personal relevance (I went to one of those LOL) but anything counts.

Thanks!

Street Photography Portraits? Your Fav Portfolios, Profiles And Databases

Where do ya’ll recommend I look for portraits of average, random people. Specifically, close up portraits of people that focus on the face itself. Looking for more interesting faces to use as reference.

I know Martin Schoeller, but he does a lot of celebrities and I’m really just looking for people you’d see in the street everyday. I’ve also got a lot of portraits from Internet Archive and yearbooks.

Thank you!

Movies With Ghosts/Hallucinations That Just Look Like Plain Humans?

Any good 80s film that have ghosts or hallucinations that appear as humans and stay that way? Like, they’re not trying to be demonic or grotesque. The characters don’t even know they’re not real people. That type of thing.

Bonus if there’s a massive helping of guilt mixed in there. Maybe the apparition is somebody close to them who died because of them, etc.

Movies With Ghosts/Hallucinations That Appear As Physically Human

Any good 80s film that have ghosts or hallucinations that appear as humans and stay that way? Like, they’re not trying to be demonic or grotesque. The characters don’t even know they’re not real people. That type of thing.

Would probably prefer horror movies, but any genre works. Bonus if there’s a massive helping of guilt mixed in there. Maybe the apparition is somebody close to them who died because of them, etc.

Movies Where The Antagonist/Central Conflict Is An Exact Clone Of The Protagonist?

Looking for movies where the main ‘problem’ is a clone hanging around. Whether the clone is just kinda… there, making them uncomfortable. Or if they’re actively trying to attack/take over the original.

Bonus if:
- The clone is exact and feels human. There are movies like Invasion of The Body Snatchers where they tend to go all apathetic alien, but I’d prefer a clone that feels like a person but just has their own motives
- They include some discussions on how they feel about each other. How the original feels having a clone at all and how the clone feels not being an ‘original’ person, etc.
- The movie is from the 70s-80s. I like retro films. But any date counts!

Thank you! :D

Anybody Know Where I Can Find Pictures Of Everyday People? Like Archived Yearbooks?

I’m an artist and really need some better references. I love all the normal sites people use, but the problem is that most of those people are celebrities or models. They’re ‘conventionally attractive’ and most people just don’t look like that. We can’t all be Winona Ryder LOL. It makes it way harder to make characters that look unique but still average.

So far, I’m loving yearbooks. But obviously these are mostly kids + a few teachers. Any ideas for where I could find archived collections/books like that but for adults?

Thank you :)

It’s really sinking in that I was almost murdered as a child

When I was 11-12, I went to a primary school that plainly did NOT care about bullies. It happened after a new principal transferred in and started enabling the worst behaviour of both the students and their teachers. He was immature and the fakest ‘nice’ person I’ve ever seen. He’d tell you to apologise to your bully for ‘starting drama’ with this stupid smile and thought it made him a good person. There were families that moved out of their homes just to get into a new school district.

There was a group of kids who hated me and any other quiet kid they could pick on without getting punched back. I’ll call them JK, JA and JO. JK was clearly a very angry child, JA was actually a distant cousin and it was like his only joy in life was hurting others because his home life sucked. But JO? His mother was the most cartoonish example of a “my kid can do no wrong” PTA mom I’ve ever seen. He had eyes like a shark with no light in them. He’d be having a perfectly good day, happy life and still go out of his way to destroy people’s property and harass other kids. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got arrested for killing somebody and I 100% mean that.

I was at the pool next door to the school with my Mom. School had just ended and I loved swimming. I was playing around with the only massive orange boogeyboard big enough for 4-5 people, since there was nobody else there at the pool. These 3 kids + 2-3 more that would hang out with them, but weren’t as relentlessly mean walked in and I got nervous, but tried to ignore them.

The first thing they did when they got inside was see me, start pointing at me and laughing, whispering then went to get dressed. They came out, swam towards me and started pushing the board and mocking me. They didn’t say they wanted it, they just wanted to hurt somebody. I fell off the board and they pushed the board over top of me and surrounded it on all sides. We were mid-way to the deep end, so it wasn’t deep enough that I could full swim under them, especially since I was a bigger kid.

They kicked me if I tried to swim out from under them. I couldn’t push the board up, I couldn’t get past them and I was terrified. My mom had to get up and start shouting at them, telling them to get off me. It took a while but eventually a couple of them swam up to her and started mocking her like they had me, so I could finally swim past them.

I will never forget coming out of the water and not being able to breathe. Coughing, panicking and so so confused. I hadn’t done anything wrong, why did they hate me so much to do that to me? Me and my Mom left and when the PTA mom was told (very politely, mind you) what had happened she chased down my Mom to yell at her that she was a liar and her son would never do something like that. No consequences. The school didn’t care because it “wasn’t on school property”. The police didn’t care. They tried to drown me and only me and my Mom were upset. But I never really realised they were trying to KILL me. It just became another incident along side having my pencil case emptied and thrown around, having sports balls thrown at my face, being mocked and laughed at for literally anything I did. But like… they actually tried to kill me. I would’ve drowned if Mom hadn’t helped me. And I know that for a fact.

I know some contrarian is gonna pipe up with “we all make mistakes as a kid” but these kids were deranged. Last time I heard of JA, he smashed a glass bottle over a kids head because he thought he was laughing at him (he was having a conversation with his friends and didn’t realise JA was there, apparently) and got kicked out of school. My lasting sighting of JO was in my second highschool. He was being lead away by a very angry teacher with that same horrible smile and those same shark eyes. Just no soul, no empathy. JK disappeared, can’t find any evidence he even exists anymore.

They didn’t change, they escalated publicly and finally got consequences when it was too late to help them. They tried to kill somebody and nobody cared. Those adults, who brushed it all off or defended the aggressors, set them up for failure and traumatised an innocent child who just wanted to swim after school. I wasn’t the only one either. The school has an awful reputation in the community now because while the school wouldn’t do anything, the talk of what was happening still spread. The (now-ex) principal left but is on a school board, making high level decisions. I found out as an adult that at his last school, his daughter attended and was a notorious bully that all the parents hated. I hope he and the people who helped him rot.

Your Favourite 70s-80s Era SciFi Extraterrestrial Flicks?

I’ve seen the big ones like E.T, Fire In The Sky, Starman, etc. What other movies do you recommend?

Don’t mind what subgenre. I prefer a creepy horror/thriller but it doesn’t have to be. Whether it’s crazy practical effects and laser light shows or more of a psychological slow burn. If it’s good, it applies!

Most What The Fu Retro Horror Movie Plots/Ideas You’ve Ever Watched?

Trying to find some more horror movies with crazy, weird plot lines. I’d prefer if they were actually decent films but we all know the best ones are usually objectively trash LOL.

Recommend Me Your Favourite Insane And Terrible 80s B-Horror!

What 80s era horror movies are so bad they’re good? Massive points for ones with less reviews/ratings online, I feel like I’ve heard or watched a lot of the really popular ones. But I tend to be picky when choosing what to watch next, so I’m hoping I’ll have a massive blind spot here and find some new cheesy, awful gems :)
