Update #2: stray baby has a name and maybe a friend

The lady we rescued a few weeks ago has been slowly warming up to us but she's been tense and scared to a degree that didn't feel right. Last week the guitar teacher said he's been seeing another cat around his property that looks much like her and has been crying and searching the area, presumably looking for her. He thinks it's either a brother or her mother. We're going to catch that cat as well, and if they're friends we'll try to find a foster to take both of them. I can't keep two cats and I won't separate a bonded pair.

We've named her Artemis. The other cat will be either Apollo (brother) or Leto (mother). Any advice on finding a suitable foster home is appreciated.

Spay the stray?

Hi! We just rescued a stray cat who is unspayed. According to local law I have to spend 90 days looking for her owner before I can claim her. I have two male cats and would really like to spay her for everyone's wellbeing. I know it's the best choice for her health long term, but it's possible she escaped from a cattery or other cat breeder.

Edit: she is not chipped and I live in King County, WA state

Question: if I spay her before those 90 days are up and an owner comes forward, and that owner did not want her spayed, would they be able to come after me for that?

Hi all,

Mother's Day is coming up and my sibling and I have a Complicated relationship with our mother. We both want to start distancing ourselves from her, as she's demonstrated untrustworthiness and in trying to "keep the peace" has implicitly allied herself with our abuser. I think not doing anything for her for mother's day is one option, but I also feel like it could be a good opportunity to make a point.

Does anyone have recommendations for something we can give her that might make her a little uncomfortable/start to realize how badly she's fucked up? I was considering getting her a copy of Why Does He Do That? but my sibling thinks that's too obvious.

I think he may be feral. Any ideas on what species, and recommendations for care/getting him socialized to other occlupanids?
