How has bail reform affected your community?

Bail reform was began January 2020 so it can be hard to tell it's effects. From what I can tell, in NYC we saw that jails were holding people who belonged in mental health facilities leaving them to wander the street until they were caught for worse crimes. In smaller counties jails were longer stuffed to the brim.

What Golden Girls lines have you used unintentionally?

I told my parents I'm getting rid of their power tools and ladders. My mom and I got in a fight about it. She told me Uncle Roger went up on his roof to repair it when he was 97. The next words out of my mouth were "I'm not your Uncle Roger's daughter".

I must have been inspired by That Old Feeling.

"I'm not Sheila Patterson's daughter."

When have you used a line from the show without meaning to?

I hate this feeling of drugging him into rest time.

3 week appt with specialist recently

The good: we caught it early. An MRI wasn't even on their radar let alone surgery.

The bad: stricter crate rest. As in keep him in a crate. No more letting him have his potty time to sniff the yard like a dog. Always on a leash.

The vet sympathized with us. She gave us higher doses of trazadone and gabapentin to give him to keep him knocked out. I know that if we can keep him calm and snoozy for 3 more weeks he'll get many more days to be a dog in the future.

I hate that he doesn't know why he has to stay in the crate or why he snoozles so much. I am greatful we caught this early, just feeling so terrible for how his life has to be in the short term.

The front of the house is unguarded!!

One of the laws I have peed all over the property is that the dog of the house (me) must perform 5000 security checks on all part of the property everyday. More if there is an active threat.

Protocol states that for any noise occurring outside of the front of the house is for the dog of the house (again me) to run at top speed, woofing with all his or her might, and jumping on the couch to give more ferocious and pointed woofs at the perceived threat. Then remain on the couch for several hours checking the window every few minutes. I have been very good at my job. Everytime a squirrel in the neighbors yard has farted I've been there to tell him or her off. We have been killed by axe murderers exactly 0 times.

The vet has told my hoomans I must be in strict crate rest. This means no more jumping onto the couch. I am only able to see the back yard through the two big windows, which leaves the front of the house fully unguarded.

The hoomans and vet clearly do not respect the importance of my job. What will happen when all the squirrels, bunnies, bike riders and axe murderers realize the mighty Fido is no longer working out the front window? I have tried to raise the issue up the chain command, all that has resulted in is another half of a trazadone pill in my pill pocket treats.

How do I get back onto active duty?

Did people in your day believe "God would sort it all out in the afterlife?"

In your day, did people worry about wars, criminal trials or other current events? Or did they just shrug them off thinking God would make sure it was all ok in the afterlife?

Is interacting with a faerie a guarantee of pain and turmoil?

Is ones life, in terms of safety, comfort and stability, over if they meet a faerie? Going solely off media here.

My favorite childhood book Ella Enchanted featured a fairy godmother who refused to use "big magic" to avoid horrific repercussions. At least one other fairy didn't follow this example leaving horrific lives for the people she "blessed" with gifts at births and weddings.

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell features a faerie who unintentionally makes the lives of humans he finds interesting hell by forcing them to live with him in his castle as they sleep. He really does love them, one of them he tries to make into the King of England, however he is unable to see how the effects of his magic are making their lives hell and rebukes pleas to be left alone.

Finally, the Emily Wilde trilogy. The Fae are meant to be treated cautiously and implied to have the power to trap humans just for fun or by accident if they wander too closely to some faerie portal or artifact.

All this to ask, if I'm ever just living my life and run into a faerie who finds me in someway abnormal or interesting, is my life just toast? Should I be praying that I never run into a faerie or if I must that they think me dull and don't give me a second glance? If a faerie promises to magic me away to their kingdom to live in luxury should I assume it's a terrible trap and try to talk my out of it?

Women who have donated their eggs, how would you feel if they went to Perez Hilton?

Perez has said that he and the donor do not know each other. I have to wonder if she would have given knowing that someone like him, hateful towards women, would potentially be raising a daughter she helped create.

Women who have donated, any thoughts?

Did I embarrass my parents by calling about a violent incident that occurred near their home?

Quoting my post from amioverreacting

>This happened many years ago. I live in a city a few hundred miles from my parents. They live in a rural town. I read their local news. Once day I read that a violent crime occurred half a mile from their home. Which is many miles from the nearest town.

>I immediately began worrying that something terrible like happen to them. They're country people, they don't own a gun. I couldn't think of what they'd do if a stranger knocked on their door. I was imagining terrible things at night when they took their dog for the last potty before bed. I called and tried to tell them that they should visit me for a few nights. They declined. I said they should stay at an empty family property, or my moms siblings home, or that I'd get them a hotel. They said no to it all.

>I couldn't stop worrying so I called the non emergency number to the local police (listed at the bottom of the article). I spoke to the detective on the case, telling him where my parents lived and asking if they were safe. He told me they believed the person who did it wasn't in the area and it should have been settled before days end. I thanked him profusely.

>I called my parents to tell them the good news (without details). My mom was annoyed. My dad lost his shit. There was a lot of back and forth about him accusing me of treating like him he was incompetent to love on his own and me saying I was just worried and if he'd heard of something happening where I lived her be concerned as well. He denied he would have called authorities like that. At the end he either asked the officers name or I told him if he saw anything to call officer X he blew up again. Apparently the officer was his second cousin and frequently visited his workplace to pick supplies for some kind of program. After a few more minutes of yelling and swearing he hung up. The case was settled that night. We all moved on, but occasionally if something strange occurs on the news my partner tells me "don't call the cops for them again". My sister heard the story a few years later and called me dramatic. My aunt said I did the right thing.

We were talking about crazy things we did as kids, my boyfriend said this one (even though I was in my 20s) probably caused my parents the most upset because the officer most likely told others and they were worried people in their small town heard the story. I thought the officer would have gone on with his day and not given it much more thought.

Did I cause my parents a lot of embarrassment?

I am on crate rest. What are loopholes that would allow me to go to the park?

The vet told me I must be on crate rest for several weeks. I've realized that if I give the eyes I am allowed to lay on a bed on the floor and if I am quick I can jump on the couch instead of using the dog stairs. However I have not found a way to be allowed back to the park.

Every work day at 5:00pm and weekend at 10:00am I create the pre-park rumpus by jumping around, grabbing my leash and performing dog play bow. I am told "no it will hurt your back" and "keep it up and you'll have to stay in the crate all day". Dog law for the last several months has been that a trip to the dog park at least once a day is mandatory. I miss it very much. It is one of few places I can run around, sniff and pee without my hoomans needing to be on a leash.

Can I sign a waiver saying I'm willing to have back problems for the rest of my life? I just want to go back to the dog park!

Why can't I get along with people my own age?

I promise this isn't "le wrong generation" I really am distressed. I'm 34. My social set is mostly people over 20 years older than me. My partner is a few months older than me and I'm in touch with one person from my high school days. I'm close with an old landlord and his wife who are in their 70s. I started volunteering last year. I worked in the day so it was me and a lot of retirees. I made many friends who I can regularly call, text, ask for advice or offer to help. My book club is me, one other woman in her 30s and women who are retired or about to be. At my last job I got along best with a coworker who was in her early 20s. At my new job, mostly people within 10 years of my age, I haven't clicked with any of my coworkers.

I would love some friends my age, who I can chat with and send Simpsons memes to. I just can't seem to make it work. I don't know why, I'm a normal 30 something. I love rose perfume, hard candy, and complaining about how AI is ruining society. Has anyone struggled with this?

Is Headway allowed to lie and say my provider is no longer taking my insurance?

My therapist warned she was having trouble with Headway. One day I logged in to make another appointment and got a notification she wasn't taking my insurance and would I like to find a new provider? I called my insurance. They said she's still in network and even she opted to leave their network they would cover a few more weeks.

I went to headways help line, I chose live chat. The person on the other end said she wasn't taking my insurance, then that she wasn't taking new clients, then that she wasn't taking pre-existing clients and they couldn't tell me why. I told them that any non-compete they had was with her and that as the client I had a right to seek her services out even she couldn't reach out to me. I asked if they were sure they wanted to leave my insurances cut on the table. That prompted the "agent" to say they would escalate the situation and someone would email me (fwiw I requested a phone call).

I got an email from someone reiterating that my provider no longer took my insurance and they wished me well on my search for a new one. They said they were "gathering details" to ensure I could be assisted in the best way. I said again that insurance said she's covered and will be for several more weeks and to stop lying. They said they escalated and I'd hear back in 2 business days. I found some contact info for my old provider. She confirmed she's no longer with headway and can continue seeing me.

Are they allowed to lie about the status of a provider and my insurance?

Headway blocking me from my provider?

I tried to rebook with my practitioner. I got a message saying she wasn't in my network anymore. My insurance said it was still good on their end unless she decided to stop working them. Headway then said she's no longer taking new or existing clients.

We'd been getting along great, she said she had some trouble with headway. What could be going on?

He wants to go to the park at his usual time.

Not sure what stage he is. Diagnosed one week ago follow up with his vet next week and a neurologist a week after that. The meds have done their job, he's no longer in pain. When my partner and I are done with work he begins the veg for the park. Demand barking, whining, stomping his paws, bringing us his leash... It's heart breaking. We'd only been going about three months, sometimes twice a day in weekends, but it was a big part of his routine.

Any tips to ease the guilt?

Stir crazy dog wants to go to the park.

Not seeking medical help, just venting.

Four months ago we started going to the park. He loves it so much he begs when we're home from work and would sometimes beg twice on weekends. Vet says he has to be on crate rest few weeks, he still begs, whining, stomping, demand barking and bringing his leash to us for over an hour. A few treat puzzles aren't cutting it sadly.

Any tips to ease the guilt?

Hot take: I'm bored of the Jessica Lange character.

I'm sick of the sarcastic, abusive, head bitch charge who's bitter about aging, but secretly as a heart of gold beneath her tough exterior and is saved the end by the man whose been pining for her for decades.

If she's coming back, I hope the character is fresh.

Have the books been verified?

I was about to purchase some of the books and was surprised to learn Jennifer Worth is accused of taking a lot of liberties if not making things up. Her daughters say they never met the characters and only have a picture of who they believe is Chummy. Other fans are saying they've tried to find the trial of Monica Joan and anything about the real Chummy, she and her husband were the first police officer and first midwife of a country they went to on a mission, and ave concluded they couldn't exist as written.

This was all from years ago. Have their been any developments?

Reminder you are allowed to call the cops when your Q drives drunk.

Courage to change the things you can, you can prevent your Q from killing someone. Not saying it's easy but it can help you sleep at night in the long run.
