Throwback to the time that me and my grandma gave each other the same book as a gift.

It was my birthday. However, I wanted to surprise her with a gift too, probably because I wanted to be grateful for all she has given me in my life so far.
So anyway, one day I went ahead and bought the book. Then I called her, telling her that I had a gift for her. She kept insisting that I didn’t have to and when she finally gave in, she started asking for hints for what her gift was. I finally gave in and told her that it was something made of paper. She told me that she also had something made of paper for me too. and I want to be clear about this: at this point i all ready very strongly suspected that it was going to be the same book. I don’t know how, I just knew it in my soul.
So anyway, my birthday rolls around and we exchange gifts. She is the one that opens her book first and laughs. She said she knew it. I said that I also basically knew it. Somehow, the rest of my family didn’t witness this specific part of the interaction even though it happened in the living room right in front of everyone.
Later, I started opening my gifts. when I opened my book, it was indeed the same one. My laugh at that moment was kind of half faked, half real. It was the kind of “I can’t believe that it’s actually the same book” type of relief laugh. when my mom saw it her eyes widened and she said
“Wait, Isnt that the same book you gave her” and I told her that it was, and got back up to show it to her and grab a glass of water.
Then my dad noticed and said basically the same thing.
Then everyone started accusing us of planning it. I kept saying that we didn’t, and that somehow, we just knew it was gonna be the same book. My mom and dad kept asking how, and so did everyone else.
Nobody will ever believe that we didn’t plan it, and that we only pretty much knew it was going to be the same book.

Greener areas to move to?

I’m planning on moving to Houston/the United States within the next few years and I need tips on which areas to move to. I know that you wanna say “pick a different city” but I wanna live in Houston and I need tips on the greenest and most walkable area to move to. Doesn’t have to be like upstate New York green or something but I’m willing to splurge on rent If it means driving less. At least slightly less.
(Plus it’s the only city I have even a slight shot at affording)

What is a distinct thing you are 100 percent sure changed in the world since you were a young child?

I specifically remember that when I was a kid, planes didn’t have screens yet. the flight attendants still did the safety instructions the traditional way, in the isle.
I also remember that cars used to have dedicated CD players. Most don’t anymore.

The "fall girlies" long standing trend where people make fall/halloween content in august is really irritating

i'm gonna start off this post by saying that i'm biased because i do the exact same thing with christmas but at least i don't post it online and make it a trend when people are still trying to enjoy the rest of their summer. at least i start during the actual fall, but tbh i'm not really any better. at least don't claim it's fall when it's still summer. i'v been dreading the come of these videos since the beginning of summer. where are the "enjoying my summer" videos?

Dose anyone know if the spiritual tie to your birthplace/birth country makes you more likely to feel more grounded if you visit?

I’m currently visiting there and I’m feeling more grounded than I have where I live. Is this a possible spiritual thing?

CMV: one peice dresses at ugly and unflattering and shouldn’t be considered dresses.

One peice dresses have no wait line, no cups, and in my opinion have no way to look good because of this. I don’t call these dresses, I call these long shirts lol. The beach is the only acceptable place to wear one. I don’t know how else to explain it.
Honestly it pretty much looks like you didn’t put any effort into a nice looking outfit, no matter when you are going. and yeah I’m hypocritical because I have worn these in the past and have ever felt confident and pretty in them, and felt like I wasn’t wearing anything that was up to pretty dress standards. I’m not saying you gotta be ultra snatched, but at least have some definition somewhere to take it from 2 pieces of fabric sewn together to real summer dress.

The United States trip that I worked my ass off for (literally) had to be cancelled (but can hopefully be rescheduled)

The United states trip that i worked my ass off for, literally, had to be cancelled (but will hopefully be rescheduled) My dad told me that if i lost 15kg witch is about 30-35 pounds (for context my parents worked their asses off to provide us a stable home and life to witch affect we are now upper middle class.) he would take me to america for over a week. i did it in just under 3 months, witch is a mad win win for me.
as time went on it became clear that it would end up being a family trip instead of just us two solo witch is awesome.
But the day before we were meant to leave for the trip we found out that that the law has recently changed to where US citizens: for context i was born in the state of NY but our family now lives in eastern eroupe, witch technically makes me a US citizen. To where you can't enter the US without a US passport. My US passport was revoked long ago when i was a kid because i believe that it goes away after like 5 years of not visiting the US or something. (correct me if i'm wrong.) Now we don't know if we can cancel in time for my dad to be able to get his money back, let alone reschedule.
i'm sitting here with my lunch bowl next to me freaking out over all this. i don't wanna cry and overdratamise and jinx things. let's hope that my dad is both able to get his money back and we're able to reschedule the trip to after monday witch is when we're heading to the capitol to the US embassy to get me an emergency US passport issued. I love the US and was beyond excited to go there, this trip means so much to me for personal reasons outside those that i have shared here. please don't break my heart, universe, please...

If you can have basically anything delivered straight to your doorstep in 1-3 days, consider yourself privileged.

It doesn’t work the same way with companies like for example in eroupe. And I know what you are thinking, eroupe has Amazon prime delivery in some places, right? And you’d be right, but outside of that and western eroupe, the delivery network fucking sucks. we’re talking 4-7 days minimum from just a few counties over, and that’s if you’re lucky. with Amazon countries that don’t have major central hubs/live outside Amazon prime like (some of) central and eastern eroupe, Amazon completely and utterly fucked us over. Delivery takes 5-10 days minimum if you are lucky, and that’s with Amazon. It might just be me, but 90 percent of the time it’s 10-17/whatever the TAF Amazon says they will deliver by. So concider yourself really lucky, even privaliged if you can order something and get it that quickly. sometimes I feel like central and Eastern Europeans are living like 35 years in the past. Your only hope here is a local store/online shop which is sometimes extremely hard to find for whatever you need outside basic necessities. If the country is more then 2 away good fucking luck getting it faster then under a week. even local stores that would literally be like a few hours drive away have taken 4-5 days before.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if you have access to 1-3 day delivery on a broad range of items for delivery directly to your doorstep, you’re privileged.
