Advice for a first-timer?

I get about $10 on a gift card of my choice every eight weeks from selling my blood. I've always wanted to visit D&B and just go crazy, but I'm too poor for that. It's a bit absurd but this is kind of a bucket-list item for me. So two questions:

-How many gift cards would I need to save to be able to play for a really substantial amount of tickets (like maybe two hours worth of gaming)?

-Will they even accept multiple gift cards for the same payment?

-Do all D&B locations have the same layout or is there a way I can l look up which games are at my local one?

My only knowledge of this place comes from watching a channel called Arcade Matt and once looking wistfully through the window at a location, so I don't know ANYTHING about how this works!

Maybe this is a dumb question but how do I promote awareness?

I'd like to be able to promote awareness of my SPD, but with the caveat that I'm a mostly functional adult and don't want to be labeled as "the disabled person" or "the complainer" or "the baby" or anything. I just want some way of letting people know that I have difficulties while still being considered a normal person. If that makes any sense.

Any suggestions? Maybe a keychain in the SPD colors (if we have any colors)?

How do you get over the sensory aspect of swimming???

My parents (who were both state champ swimmers- one was also a lifeguard for a few summers) tried to teach me swimming when I was in third grade. It didn't work out well.

They gave up and tried again in highschool. Still didn't work.

Now, in my 20s, my community pool is offering a free summer swim class, and I'm actually learning a lot so far. I've made a lot of progress in just two weeks and it's definitely worth it.

BUT. I still have major sensory difficulties. I absolutely adore being in the water. UNDER the water? Not so much. And when they have me do the breathing practice I always feel like I'm drowning when I'm actually not.

Backstroke is fine because I'm not underwater. But how am I supposed to get over being underwater so I can actually learn freestyle swimming like everyone else my age? It's driving me crazy!

"Children say the most insane things..."

Five-year-old runs to her mom in the DVD/media section of the thrift store, screaming "MOM LOOK MOM LOOK LOOK LOOK IT'S ET!!! ET ET ET!!!"

Mom looks at the DVD the child is holding, goes "Oh, so it is! 😀"

Child goes "What's ET Mommy? 😐"

Mother explains the plot of ET to the kid.

At the end, the kid goes "But... do they... touch each other? 😏👀"

Real interaction I saw today.

...is this normal?

First time going to Target Optical (switched from Costco because it was much more convenient- six minute drive as opposed to 30 minutes plus cost of membership that never gets used.) They tell me my lenses will be ready in two weeks but it's usually less than that and they only say two because they're required to by store policy. It's been almost two weeks. Nothing. I find their online tracking page, try tracking my order with the receipt- it gives me an error. No matter which browser I use, error. It won't tell me what the status of my glasses is.

After reading some angry customer reviews I'm starting to think this wasn't the best idea. How long did yours take and could you actually track them? I'm getting anxious lol.

I Need To Work On My Vestibular, But How?

Title says it all. I need to desensitize myself to vestibular sensations so I can learn to do stuff I've been wanting to do, like drive and more importantly skateboard and ride a bike and stuff. But how am I supposed to do this? I don't want to practice on any of these things with the current levels of overstimulation because that makes me associate the bad sensation with the thing I was working on ("oh skateboarding is scary it overstimulates me".)

Ideally I'd just go to an amusement park and force myself on a few rides until I stop having issues but obviously that's not a practical solution. So what is?

How do I eat healthy???

My sensory issues are mostly around food and vestibular sensations. According to my parents, I actually used to eat a normal diet and enjoy fruits and veggies and stuff until I was like six and then a lightbulb switched on and suddenly I stopped. I don't remember this but there's multiple sources claiming it happened.

Basically, I haven't touched a full serving of vegetables in about 20 years, and during that same time if I even have to LOOK at fruit (berries especially) it makes me sick. My parents keep criticizing me for "being picky" and every time I try to explain my issues with the texture of foods they go "WELL YOU'LL DRINK ORANGE JUICE, WHY WON'T YOU EAT AN ACTUAL ORANGE?????"

Mostly my favorite foods are crunchy. That's an okay texture with me. Besides most snack foods my favorites are meat, potatoes, carrots (but only heated and chopped, like in soup- not raw or cold), bread (almost any kind, bread is amazing), guacamole (NOT plain avocado, just guacamole), and even though I'm lactose intolerant anything with dairy (I punish myself a lot lol.) Tried Meta-Mucil supplements but those are crazy expensive and not worth it. Also tried Benefiber but that's the same issue. I don't think it's ARFID because I do have a wide variety of foods I enjoy (mostly snack foods, unfortunately) and at least in college I tried a lot of new foods and found stuff I liked.

How can I get a healthy diet within these restrictions? I've been reading articles about to the rising prevalence of colon cancer in young adults and would like to lower my risk factor with fiber but somehow it's not working. It's like my conscious brain wants me to eat healthy, so I look at a piece of broccoli or something and go "I'm going to consume that even though it doesn't taste good" and then my muscles go "the hell you will!" and I don't eat it and just throw it out or something.

Why can't I force myself to eat healthy? Are there other ways of getting fiber that I could use as a workaround?

Nobody talks about the spectrum!

Why is it that in the autism communities everyone talks about the "autism spectrum" but in NVLD groups nobody talks about the "NVLD spectrum"? We definitely have one! My sibling and I both have it and whilst he's got a very high-end engineering job, a house, a car, a massive social circle, and is becoming fluent in ASL in preparation for his wedding, I'm three years post-college and haven't had a job before, still unable to drive and living with my parents.

How come autism gets a spectrum label and we don't? 🤔

How Expensive Is It?

I've never been to one of these places before but it's been on my bucket list for a while now. Mostly because I'm young and broke and can't afford the luxury of something like this.

So how expensive is this place? D&B is one of my gift card options when I donate blood, but I only get $10 at a time. So if I wanted to save up my gift cards until I could buy a play card (or whatever they call them) for a day out, how long would I be waiting? And would paying with multiple gift cards even work?

Sorry if it's a dumb question lol!

Full-length animation: is it possible?

I'm helping an older family member create a project that's been on their bucket list for a while. It's basically a musical based on a Bible story, approximately 24 minutes of music with bits of audio in-between. I helped write the music, family member did lyrics, and we're all set to record some dialogue.

Rather than keeping this as an audiobook-style performance (as family member was assuming it would be) I'd like to experiment with turning it into an animation. Nothing fancy, just something visual to go with the audio. But for a project that's at least 30 minutes long, I'm not sure if AI will be able to do what I'm asking of it, that is to generate a long video with consistency in the backgrounds/characters (especially since most video-generators are 10 seconds long, max.)

Have you seen AI-assisted content this long before? Does it even exist? I'm really curious to learn about this stuff!

Can you change a Japanese DSi to English language?

Bought a Japanese DSi on eBay, and for the price I paid it was definitely worth it. $39.99 for a console in great condition, and I'm happy with what I got. I can still run games on it since it's region-free and really that's about all I need it to do. BUT I'm still wondering if there's any way to change the language to English, because it is getting a little annoying having to use Google Lens. Has anyone done this before? I've never modded a DS (or ANYTHING, for that matter), and I'm not sure how risky it is or if there's even a mod for this sort of thing.

Swimming- help!

I never learned to swim as a child (even though my mom was a state champion swimmer, lifeguard, and senior swim coach) because not only do I have bad visual-spatial deficits (my limbs don't work with my brain, basically) but I have really bad sensory issues with water. Basically, I love being IN water but not UNDER water. I'll stick to water walking and hot tubs, TYVM.

But my parents have always told me swimming is a "basic life skill that everyone needs" so when my neighborhood pool announced they were offering free swim lessons for all age groups this summer, I signed up. And now I'm regretting that decision.

When I'm under water I always feel like I'm drowning, even when I'm not. Even if it's three feet and I've only been under for five seconds, I can't stand the whole "holding your breath" thing. If all I had to learn was swimming on my back when I can breathe, fine. But my parents are insisting I need to learn to swim underwater like normal swimmers do.

What do I do? How do I get over being underwater? And is there a concise (and socially appropriate) way I can explain this to the swim instructor ahead of time so they don't get too frustrated with me? I'm not scared of water, I just have sensory issues with it!

How Do I Keep Them Straight?

I started listening to BSB about three years ago, listened to their first two albums a lot but didn't take it super seriously until recently when they announced Millennium 2.0, so I still consider myself a new fan. Now I have an unusual problem, which is that I'm a neurodivergent with severe visual-spatial problems and can't remember who's who in the group! I know their names are Kevin, AJ, Howie, Nick, and Brian, but I'm not good at associating faces with them (it's just how my brain works, I've been to Iron Maiden four times and I still forget who's who sometimes!)

Any suggestions on how to learn this?

I Need Your Sticker Ideas!

I just bought some printer-friendly sticker paper, and I need to make a Matt Rose sticker for my laptop now. Only requirements are it has to be some form of Matt Rose content, and it has to be normal enough that people won't go "tf you been watching on YouTube these days??? 🤨"

So far my only ideas are a calavera-style SKULLEMOJIIIIII, and potentially EMERGENCY FROG SITUATION. Any other suggestions would be appreciated! (My design will most likely be entirely in black because color=💰)
