Anyone else likes the DS English versions?

I have played both 2 and 3. But got no voice acting in 1 since I played the EU version which has no voices. While I haven't played the Japaanese versions and only heard clips online, I actually like the character voices in the dub better than the original for both (especially 3, where I actually like the voices better than the Special redub (which I also haven't played) clips as well. And do at some point intens to play US version of RF to hear the dub. Anyone else like the DS game dubs and prefer them over the originals?

What makes married and family life in 4 have such positive reception?

I have not yet got any dating realtrd requests. Though I read lot of positive things about marrued life in this game as well as having a child. I initially was going to marry whoever proposed first but lately have kind of waivered to Forte even if I feel have been marrying lot of blonde characters in similar games and would want a different type for change. Though what is it about married life and having a kid that it has such positive reception? Is the pregnancy dialogue and child growth dialogue really fleshed out or something? Or are there more events than most games?

Favorite "imaginative" recipes from any game?

While most tend to be normal real life foods like bread, baked potatoes, or curry rice, the games often feature outlandish recipes like Ultimate Curry or Prelude to Love. Are there any of this kind you think looks good be it from any main series game Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons game, or any spin off? For my part, I actually think the Golden Cake in spinoff Hometown Story looks delicous. What are some you like to try and why?

Marriage events in Hometown Story.

So I've been playing the 3DS spinoff Hometown Story and think it a great game. After much anxiety I was able to marry Anna. And right now am aiming for 100% completion. While her dialogue has not really changed much, I actually havw ogtten three events with her so far. First, the one where she requests a second item which alongside the fruit she picked earlier she makes a blue stone that mentions keeping me healthy (though it seems to be just flavor text). Then shortly I got an event where she went home to her mother Rachael temporarily out of anxiety for her but shorlty returns a couple of daya or so later because her mom scolded her for not leaving me. Now, I just got a wedding annivarsary event where she and I went to the view where she proposed marriage. She even mentions her deceased brother Harvey and her sorrow about his death. And talks of loving me forever. It would be nice if the annivessary event is repeatable but not sure if it is. And do hope there are more events. But just wanted to put this out for those who have not been able to marry in this game or want to know what it is like. I thought the first two events were all but this annivasry is a wonderful surprise. And this has become a personal favorite game.

How is Dragon Quest 7 in your opinion?

I am near the end of my second play of 6 (just need to do final dungeon) and just started my first play of 7. And first impression is good. The 3DS isometric visuals are excellent. And do like my first impression of Maribel and would enjoy having her present for the rest of the game. The premise seems to be that there is only one island in the world but Maribel does not believe it. I went ahead and saved after delivering lunch to dad. And before getting further was wondering if this game is quite popular here.

Which is the best of the other Lunar Silver Story games to try after Lunar Legend on GBA?

I played Lunar on GBA before and liked the story and characters. Many do find it to be the most watered down version though I really like it. But eventually might try one of the versions with voice acting and more complex animations. Though which one would be best to play first? Which has the best voice acting and visuals or would be most enjoyable coming off the GBA?

Anyone else enjoy Harvest Moon Lost Valley?

I managed to awaken the Harvest Goddess and the game is far from over. And I honestly like the more simple graphics and gameplay mechanics style it has compared to the 3DS Story of Seasons games, though the classic Harvest Moon graphics were prettier. The villagers slowly arrive over time much like in Island of Happiness. And I have read that I will play a more active role in caring for the child after marriage than in classic Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons (such as having to feed them myself). I really am looking forward to continuing it and disagree with the many neagtive reviews it gets. And do intend to check out Skytree village next. Anyone else enjoy it? And actaully like the more simple design compared to later Farm games?

Anyone else not a fan of the romance in Please Excuse My Younger Brothers?

Been watching the anime. And I honestly like the last episode where the MC helps her stepbrother leave his shell and become more socialable. By contrast, I did not much care for the latest episode which makes it clear she is set up with the eldest stepbrother and had lot of rom com drama. Not because they are step siblings or she looks too young but because I picked it up for a show focused on familial bonds and a sweet big sister MC. Not another rom com drama with the same cliches about how they see them as more than a friend or in this case a sibling. Still enjoy the show and would like to see her interact wit the other two brothers who haven't had much focus. Anyone wish that it had just been focused on family love and romance either did not exist or took complete backseat?

Opinion on Venti compared to the other dragons?

Actually compelted thw first arc (which I incorrectly thought was the first AND second arc). The game is quite good I'd say. Not as good as 2 and 3 but still enjoyable. Venti so far is OK. Compared to the dragons in the three DS games who were morally ambigious forces of nature, she is benevolent and has quite a sensitive persona. I kind of have mixed feelings about it and did prefer the more ambigious morals of the three other dragons, with Terrable being violent only to end up helping to stop the Sechs empire for ambigiois reasons, while Fiersome was an amoral force of nature who while not malicious had no qualms about destroying a village, and Aquaticus while having benevolent intentions deceived and manipulated the villagers and Micah even if it ended up doing good. Venti may end up growing on me (she is the first to be present for mist of game instead of only appearing at the end). What do others think? Do you prfer the more morally ambigous dragons of the previous games or do you like Venti being nice and sensitive?

Can you do the family visit DLC if it has been more than 45 days since marriage and can it be done indefinately if you reset to earlier save each time after doing it but still have the DLC?

According to Fogu https://fogu.com/sos2/getting-married/index.html, your parents and sister will visit you if you have this DLC. I have been married to Komari for more than a year now. Will it still work if I manage to get it? Also, can it be repeated if you reset to an earlier save file after doing it? It is the only family event where my wife and family will interact so would like to be able to repeat it. Though is it necesaary to complete it to unlock new content?

In practice, why forums and sites that are meant to be open minded end up hostile toward unpopular opinions even when politely stated?

For instance, many fandom sites may have someone who gives positive comments about an unpopular sequel get hostile responses or even downvoted. Or cooking forums might have people who "ruin" good food get told off. Or hobby sites might show hostility to those who use something the "wrong way". What exactly causes sites that are open minded in intent to in practice have a bias and hostility toward dissent even when done in good faith?

Do the DLC events for Trio of Towns unlock any new content or changes to game?

If I ever do manage to get the DLC, does it unlock any changes? There is one event where your family visits, and since otherwise my wife gets no interaction with them in normal game, I was thinking I could just reset after doing the event to reexperince whenever I want infinitely. Or does it have to be done to unlock any new game content?

What you like about Interlude?

It only was ever released once on Playstation Portable. People do tend to sleep on it but what parts of it you like? And how does it compare to both the original FF4 as well as After Years? I haven't played it since I cannot get PSP to work so I only know second hand about it but do like that it keeps Cecil as the main focus (given he becomes more supporting in After Years). And that Cecil and Rosa get more moments together, even showing their child being born during the game.

Opinion on the plot of 4?

So I actually got all the rune spheres near the end of the first Spring and it seems the main story is already near the end (and that I will be going to the Forest of Beginning soon). I had it on eas mode but was not expecting the story to end this soon. There is a third arc that takes time to unlock (I am playing the 3DS version) but I haven't done lot of requests for villagers and the main plot is already near the end. How do others think of the story in this game? Find it too short or think it works?

Why does Natsume get blamed for the rebrand?

I haven't played enough of their games to judge them (though I really don't find Lost Valley the atrocity many were saying). However, I did read on some older comments of u/Cherubae supprted by articles like https://www.siliconera.com/harvest-moon-beyond-whats-next-natsume that it was really Marvelous who abruptly chose to cut ties and rebrand. Whereas most fans online make it sound like they had no choice in the rebrand and that Natsume forced them to do so. I don't know too many details behind the scemne but why is it still commonly made out that Natsume stole the name or forced the rebrand when Marvelous did not actually try to keep it or negotiate in any way? Edit:Fixed broken link.

What exactly is it that makes your wife offer to cook a dish of your choice?

Usually a random dish is made. However, Komari has several times asked if I wanted something specific usually offering three options. I can't notice any pattern but is there a specific trigger to get her to ask you rather than just make a random dish for one of three meals each day? Or is it all random?

Any fans who like Ruby and Sapphire better than Emerald?

While most fans see Emerald as the definitive version, I for some reason like Ruby and Sapphire better despite the extra content in Emerald? Anyone else feel this way and for what reasons? What things you like better in Ruby and Sapphire compared to Emerald?

How many rematches are needed to batttle all title denfense challengers and any post game worth doing?

Completed Moon. And I surprisingly enjoyed it. And the ending where Lillie leaves for Kanto to helo her mother was quite a good way to end the story. There are title denfenses unlike previoisbgames that just had you rematch the old champion indefintely. How many times do you have to do Elite Four again to battle all of them? Also, is any post game content worth doing?

Actually find first impression of Lost Valley quite good.

So I decided for first time to play a game from Harvest Moon after splitting with Bokujō Monogatari just to see for myself how it is and whether I agree with the fandom or not. And the first impression is actually quite good. The graphics are not the most pretty compared to Bokujō Monogatari but they are easy to get used to. And the premise is actually a good one. It sort of feels reminiscent of Island of Happiness (another unpopular game I liked) which also started in a ruined ghost town with barely anyone besides thw player. Except here the town is literally a wasteland. I never have played Minecraft in my life so I cannot say how accurate the common claim of its being like Minecraft is. I have read that you play a more active role in caring for your child after marrying unlike the passive role inmoat of Bokujō Monogatari (expect maybe A Wonderful Life which I have yet to play) such feeding them milk with bottle. While it might seem annoying to some players, it actually is one of the things I am most looking forward to. Time will tell whether this first impression is will be lived up to or if the negative reviwes are right. I easily have figured digging paths and planting but are there any more obscure tips? Also, when can the first villagers be expected to arrive?

How are Lost Valley and Skytree Village on 3DS?

I've lately been playing the Nintendo 3DS. And do feel curious about trying some of the games from post split. From reading it seems that they feel different but it is not necessarily a bad thing for me. In fact I'd be interest to see what kind of style they go for and how different they feel. Just how are Lost Valley and Skytree Village on 3DS? Putting aside any bias toward brand or developers, do they have merits as games? How are the settings and gameplay? How different are they from the pre split? Or post split SoS (I only have played Trio of Towns so far).
