Need to clarify some things...

  1. If my friend lends me a book and I make copies of sections of that book and use said copies for personal use while I am being lent the book (and this is assuming that I would destroy the copies after returning the book to my friend), would this be fair use?
  2. If I use brief citations of said book in a blog post for purposes of commentary, criticism, parody, etc. (which would normally be fair use) from the book being lent to me, would it be legal for me to keep those brief citations in the blog post after I have returned the book to my friend? Or would the only legal thing to do be either to remove the citations, continue to borrow the book from my friend, or acquire my own copy of said book?

Question regarding video codec royalties

Let's say I am making a video and have hundreds of gigabytes worth of footage compressed using FFV1 and need to free up drive space and so decide to start compressing some of my footage with lossy HEVC.

If I include footage compressed with lossy HEVC in the edit, but encode the final master with a royalty free codec, do I still have to pay royalties because it includes footage originally encoded with HEVC and consequently features forensic visual traces of it despite having been re-encoded?

How to improve video quality?

I uploaded this as a 4k FFV1 MKV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDtWAsZSdjU

It looks really compressed. The file on my hard drive is completely lossless and looks beautiful. I understand that I'm not going to achieve that on YouTube but I would at least like to improve it as much as I can for subsequent uploads.

What codecs, containers, settings, etc., have worked best for you?

Does anybody here have a digital copy of the Wii version of Twilight Princess on their account??

I am making a video about Twilight Princess. I wanted to show footage of the Twilight Princess Wii Shop Channel page but I only have a physical copy of the game and since the shutdown, you can only view the Wii Shop Channel pages for games/channels for games which you already own a digital copy.

So my request is this: could somebody who has a digital copy of Twilight Princess on their account record footage of the store page?

Here's what kind of footage I'm looking for:

Capture card, via component video or HDMI (via Wii U HDMI, Wii HDMI mod, or Wii-to-HDMI device - please do NOT use composite or S-video!!!), 480p (please no interlaced!!), either 16:9 or 4:3 is fine, uncompressed/lossless or at least very very high bitrate (no perceptual compression artifacts)

Show accessing the game from the ""Titles You've Downloaded" screen, then the actual game page, then the additional details with screenshots and description, etc.

Sorry for the very strict specifications but I want to maintain visual cohesion with the rest of my video (so that the footage doesn't stand out too much because it looks different from the other stuff I recorded)

I will be sure to give credit.

Thank you!

P.S. wouldn't hurt to get some footage of the Skyward Sword page as well if you happen to have that game too (might talk about SS a bit in my TP video idk yet).

Questions regarding the AverMedia Live Gamer Portable 2

On AverMedia's website, it says that it will support input resolutions of (among others, but these are the ones I am specifically interested in) 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080p. However, for RECORDING resolutions it only specifies a maximum of 1080p60.

My question is: can it RECORD (and not just receive) 480i, 480p, and 720p media, in addition to 1080p? In other words: if I have a 480i source, I want to record it to a 480i file which I can then upscale/deinterlace LATER ON MY COMPUTER.

Also, will it receive input + record ALL resolutions at BOTH 29.97/30fps AND 59.94/60 fps?

I'm considering getting a used Ninja 2 (yes I know it's old but I need a super low budget option for the time being), I have a couple of questions

  1. Will it record at 720x480p@60Hz?
  2. It will record only up to either 1080p@30Hz or 1080i@60Hz, NOT 1080p@60Hz, so the question is: if I feed it a 1080p60 signal, what will it do with that signal - just record every other frame or won't take in or record the signal at all?
  3. Are the "Caddies" media unto themselves or just containers for media? If the latter is true then what kind of media do I put into them? CF cards?

I know this is a niche topic but your answers are much appreciated!

Question about commercial license

Let's say I had one of Houdini's commercial licenses (say Houdini Indie) and uploaded a video created with Houdini Indie to YouTube and monetize it, but then my license expires. Can I continue to monetize the video?

Is it possible to sort pictures like 1,2,3... instead of 1,10,100,1000... ?

I converted every frame of a video file into jpeg images and named them 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...and so on. But the Xbox 360 is organizing them by the first non-repeating digit in each individual number rather than by the value of each individual number as a whole. This is NOT what I want...is there any way around this??
