Day 4 Update: Thanks to 770+ catlubers for giving this safe community a new banner

You all spoke and I heard! Thank you u/R4yvex for starting the petition with such a good suggestion for the banner! Hope y'all catlubers love the new official banner for the r/iwillthecat.

I am delighted to see that this has actually become the safe space for us catlubers exactly the way I wanted. And it is working!! We're more than 770 catlubers here and we've started sharing our success stories and experiences -ing the cat! Plus we're consistently attracting more than a 1000 visitors everyday! While this is just Day 4 for this little house of catlubers!!!

Thank you all for your support and dedication to the cat!

BTW do y'all think we need a new icon for this community? If anyone has any suggestions, let us all see it with a new petition and vote for it!!!

300+ catlubers in 36+ hrs 🥰

Tired of being told by the internet to do not the cat, I started this sub to gather frens who are catlubers like me and want to freely say I will the cat.

And I’m overwhelmed by all the support from fellow catlubing frens - who helped me spread the word about this community, shared their stories of •ing the cat and even suggested the official banner for our little community!

The result of this support reflects in the metrics we’ve achieved:

Missing my orange gunda (part 2)

Someone asked me to post my Mau's videos so I made a compilation of them. I apologise in advance for the video, it is long as I'm not good at editing🫠

Context for the videos:

1: first time climbing on the balcony grill got him all confused and scared so we had to help him down. Now he climbs fearlessly

2: hyperactive playtime, also he's acting scared and defensive as it was the first time him seeing my red nail color

3: distracted during playtime by his own reflection

4: first time watching TV and fascinated by the animals

5: him wandering off to a new place where again he got scared so I had to help him down but now it's his favourite place to sit and gossip with the neighbor's cat

6: first time trying on the collar with name tag and bell. We have removed the bell after the first try as he was getting too troubled by it and not able to explore the world the way he wants

7: he is playing with his tail while on an empty cardboard box which was on a bean bag which was on a coffee table. The floor is boring, just in case anyone is wondering.

So pleased by your support 🥹

Scrolling through Reddit, I’d be joining a new cat sub every day. There are so many lovely cat subs out there already that made me look at cats differently and love and enjoy them more than ever.

The more I scrolled through Reddit, the urge to pet a cat and play with a cat grew stronger. Subsequently, I started taking photos and videos with any cat I could get - but the internet told me r/donotthecat .

But I wanted to the cat so badly. So badly that I felt I need a space with other frens who also want to the cat. As a result, this sub came into existence where we celebrate cats and say r/iwillthecat

This sub has been in existence for just over 12 hours and we’re already a group of more than 50 cat lovers here! I love to put arbitrary targets and see if I can get anywhere around them, and I picked first 50 members in Day 1 very randomly with no thought and turns out we achieved it in half a day!!!

Now that we catlubers have gathered here, let’s show the internet that cats lub us too which is why r/iwillthecat !
