First time playing this series. I'm thinking of quitting this entry and going to the next...

I just think the game has way too many combats for its own goods, there is not enough variety to get between battles to not make them repetitive and i can't take 5 steps without being interrupted by one. It's just making me annoyed... Does it get better later?
