I'm trying to get back into a solid fitness routine after a 3-year hiatus from the gym. Doing solo workouts right now feels a bit daunting, so I was looking at trying out some group fitness classes to help ease myself back into the swing of things.

Fortunately, I'm still in pretty good shape due to having a very active, physical 9-5 job, but actual gym workouts are a different beast.
I just booked my first Body Pump class for this weekend.

According to the app description in the image, it's a
60-minute, high-intensity strength class using light to moderate weights with high repetitions. Since it's labeled as "High" intensity, I'm a little nervous about jumping straight into it after so much time away from structured training.

How beginner-friendly or "restart-friendly" is it really?

I’m looking for some insight or similar experiences. I recently noticed in pictures that my lips aren't symmetrical, specifically, my bottom lip sits more to one side. My upper lip is perfectly centered with my face, but my lower lip visibly shifts to my left. When I bite down, my entire lower dental arch is visibly shifted way over to my left. Because I can't see my ortho for a bit (appointment is in 3 weeks), I ran the photo through Google Gemini just to get an idea of what might be happening (sorry, all I have to go by right now lol).
It suggested that this looks like a classic textbook sign of a dental midline shift.

For some context: I actually had braces before and got them off about 11 years ago. Unfortunately, I stopped wearing my retainers around 6 years ago, and my bite and bottom row of teeth completely shifted and got messed up.

**Because of that, I just got braces put back on a month ago.** My orthodontist did mention that my bite is going to require some work, also my bottom row, and she gave me a 20-month timeline for the treatment.

It has been annoying me for the last few years how visible the lip asymmetry is in pictures. It honestly only clicked for me a few months ago that this is likely due to my bite shifting from not wearing the retainer.

I completely forgot to ask my ortho about the lip symmetry specifically during my first appointment, but I definitely plan on bringing it up at my next one. In the meantime, I wanted to ask here:

• Does your bite have a direct impact on lip symmetry?

• If you had a similar issue with a shifted bite affecting your lips, did braces fix it for you?

I’m really glad to have braces again and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that correcting my bite over these next 20 months (19 now) will fix the alignment of my lips too. Thanks in advance for any insight!
